Unexpected Love (23 page)

Sixty

Taylor and Maggie went shopping in town.  Allison, Sargent Mayfield’s wife, had called her earlier in the morning and had invited Taylor to a girls’ night out that night.  Taylor wanted to get a new dress to wear.  It was money she should probably not spend, but she decided to splurge.

The officers in the precinct got together once a quarter and the women had decided it was time for them to get together too.  Taylor had met some of them when she and Sean had visited John while he was recovering.  Some of the wives were having a potluck for John and his family at their home, so Taylor took a container of her white chicken chili.  She had met several other wives and cops who came in and out.  They had all been nice to her.

One of the cops introduced himself as Tony Mayfield, Sean’s boss.   “So you are the one.  I’ve been wanting to meet you.  Sean’s a good cop, one of my best.  But after the school incident I was ready to chew him up and spit him out into little pieces.  I didn’t because of what he said.  Did he tell you what he told me?”

Taylor shook her head no.

“Typical.  When I asked him who you were, he said and I quote, the most important person in the world.”

Taylor just stared and was unable to reply because of the lump in her throat.  Sean walked up to them, “Hey, what are you guys talking about?”

Mayfield responded.  “You.  She’s a lot prettier than you are Sean.”

Sean laughed and put his arm around Taylor, “I know.”

He guided her away, “What’s wrong?”

She shook her head, “Absolutely nothing.”

He gave her a doubting look but said nothing more.

When they got home, he asked her again as they sat on the couch and she told him everything was wonderful.  She did not tell him what Sargent Mayfield had said.

She wanted something new to wear because she was making plans.  Girls night out was going to end very well if she had anything to do it.  She was feeling so much better and the timing, at least for her, was right.

The girl’s night out was going to be at Sargent Mayfield’s home, hosted by his wife.  Taylor made a tiramisu to take.  Allison Mayfield was going to pick Taylor up and drive her to her house.

Sean had told her about the night, but he had not said if he was going.  She had to make sure he went.  He needed time with his fellow officers and she was going to participate in the fun night too.

Maggie helped her pick out a new dress.  It was a little short, but Maggie insisted it was perfect.  It was royal blue with spaghetti straps and fit her like a glove.

“You are going to have so much fun.  Of course, coming home might be the best part.”  She laughed.

Taylor rolled her eyes, but she giggled, “I don’t know, he might enjoy being with the guys for a change.”

“Um, not if he gets to come home to you, missy.”

Taylor laughed.  Maggie had been calling her regularly since the hospital.  They were worried about her.  She was determined to get better and not have an issue later.  Maybe if Sean drank a few beers, he would in a good mood and more than ready for tonight.  Her stomach knotted.

When Sean got home, he kissed her, which he always did now.  “You have to hurry and get changed for the guy’s night out.”

He stared at her, “I’m not sure I want to go.  I’d rather stay home.”  He didn’t add with you.

Taylor laughed.  “You need to go and spend some time with the guys.  If you are worrying about me, don’t.  I’m going to meet some of the officer’s wives for a little while.  They invited me so I’m going.”

He reluctantly agreed to go.  She went upstairs to get ready.  She put on her new dress and tried to pull it down more.  It didn’t work.  How had she let Maggie talk her into this?  She brushed her hair and left it down.  She went downstairs to wait for Allison.

When Allison arrived, she looked Taylor over.  “Taylor, you look amazing.  Did Sean see that dress before he left?”

Taylor laughed, “No.  I think it’s a little too short.”

“I bet Sean wouldn’t agree.  I am so happy the two of you are together.  I’ve met Sean several times and he seems like such a nice guy.”

“He is.  I’m crazy about him.”

Allison looked over at her, “Of course he feels the same.  It’s obvious every time you two are together.”

They gathered in the house and several of the women admired Taylor’s ring and dessert.

“Taylor, you look amazing.”  Sara said.  The others joined in, agreeing.

Allison turned out to be a great hostess.  The night was relaxed and fun.  She told them some silly stories about her and Tony and a few other wives joined in about their husbands.

Allison raised her iced tea, “A toast, ladies.  To the men who serve and protect and to us, the women who are there for them no matter how hard it can be sometimes.”

One of the wives has said they might all get lucky that later that night when they got home and the others had laughed.  One of them had looked at Taylor and grinned.  “I bet Taylor gets lucky every night.”  Taylor had blushed so they laughed again.  It was obvious they thought she and Sean were engaging in lovemaking all the time.  She did not divulge her plans for Sean to the other women.  She was almost giddy with excitement but she was also terribly nervous.

Everyone clinked glasses and drank.

When Allison asked what time they had told their husbands to pick them up, Taylor was taken aback.  She was supposed to have told Sean?  She looked around.  Most of the women said eight thirty to nine.

Taylor leaned over and told Allison, “I didn’t know I was supposed to tell Sean.”

“That’s okay.  Call him now.  I’m sure he’ll answer his phone for you.”

Taylor got up from the table and went into the quieter living room.  Sean answered within a couple of rings.  It was noisy where he was but she could hear him.

“Hi, Taylor.  Everything okay?”

She smiled into the phone, actually everything was great and going to be better if she had her way.  “I’m supposed to have asked you to pick me up at Allison’s house at eight thirty or nine.  Sorry, I didn’t know.”

“That’s no problem.  I’ll be there.”

“Good.  I need to talk to you about something important anyways.”

“Oh?  What’s it about?”

“It’s private.  I’ll tell you when we get home.”

“Ok.  Later then.”  Sean hung up a little worried.  Had she decided she was going to leave to visit her grandparents?  He had told her she could use his car.  Or maybe she had decided that her liver issue was too much for him.  Not that he hadn’t already told her it was not her decision.  And he was going to stick to her through thick and thin.  For better or worse.

The officers were gathered at a popular sports bar and restaurant.  They had met there before.  One of the officers told a funny story about a trip he and his wife had recently taken.  Finally Mayfield spoke up, “A toast.”  He held up his beer.  “A great team and hopefully we’ll all get lucky tonight.”  Everyone laughed.  Sean smiled and thought about Taylor.  If he could, he would go home and make love to her all night long.  That’s not happening, he thought wryly.  She had given him no indication that she was ready.  He wished he could convince her to take a chance on him.  He was not going to leave her or hurt her.

John glanced at Sean with a big grin.  Sean, who was suddenly thirsty, picked up his beer.  He didn’t drink much beer but when he was out with his co-workers they all drank it.  Tonight, he might need it.  John leaned over, “You need to work on that young lady tonight, Sean.  You know she’s great and I bet she’s more than willing and able.”

Sean gave him a disgusted look, which made John laugh.

Taylor concentrated on joining the conversation around her.  Sara was telling a funny story about a trip she had taken with John when they had first gotten married.

Allison held up her iced tea and smiled, “Before we dig into Taylor’s tiramisu, I propose one more toast to the luckiest women on earth who have wonderful husbands and to Taylor who has captured Sean’s heart.”

Taylor smiled.  She suddenly realized she trusted Sean more than anything.

While she had a really good time, she was nervous about talking to Sean.  Maybe she should forget words.  Weren’t actions louder than words?  Eight o’clock finally came and officers began arriving to pick up their wives.

Sean grinned at her when he got there.  “Are you ready to go?”

“Yes, very ready.  But I had a wonderful time.”

“Good.”  He took her out to his truck.  “If I had known I would have brought the car, but this is fine.  I get to kiss you and put you in.”  He turned to lift her and then kissed her as he held her up.  She put her arms around his neck and returned the feverish kiss.

When he got in, he looked over at her and down at her short dress, “You look beautiful.”

Sixty-one

When they were home, she changed into a sleep short set.  Now, how to go about this?  She thought for a moment and then had an idea of how to get his attention.

She went down to his room.  She noticed the bed had been moved.

She smiled at him.  “So, I see you moved the bed into a more proper position.  Now I don’t have to crawl over you.”

He shrugged.  He didn’t say he’d rather she crawl all over him, instead he said, “Makes it easier.”

Well, this was it.  Put her heart out there and hope it didn’t come back broken.

“Sean,” she walked up to him, “there is something pricking me in the back.  Can you find it?”  She turned her back to him and pulled up her shirt.

He stared at her bare back.  Was she kidding?  How was he supposed to do that?  He cleared his throat and bent down, “Don’t see anything.”

“You have to feel it, silly.”

He started to run his hand down her back and mumbled so softly she barely heard him, “This is not a good idea.”

She smiled.  He was interested.  She complained when he stopped, “Sean, you have to find it.”  She arched her back, “It’s pricky.  How can I sleep when my back is bothering me?”

She smiled again at his sigh but he ran his hand over her back again.  “Do you feel anything?”

“Of course I do, silly.  I feel your hand.”  She pulled her arms out of the shirt, “Check higher, please.”

He drew in a ragged breath and ran his hands across her bare shoulders.

She turned around, “Maybe it’s gone.”  She pushed him against the dresser and kissed him.

He kissed her back, hard.  He slid his hands across the soft skin he had just felt.  She was kissing him back just as passionately.

Taylor smiled and slid her hands up under his t-shirt as he kissed her neck and face.  He put his hand behind her back and pulled her closer, daring to let her feel his need and desire.  He kissed her shoulder and then back to her mouth.

When her hands slid farther up under his shirt on his bare chest, he took her hand and stopped her.  He moaned, “Taylor, you’re making me crazy.”  He could feel the heat in his loins and he was starting to get tight.

She smiled at him and kissed him.  As they kissed, she put her hand back up under his shirt and rubbed her fingers across his chest softly.  When she reached his pectoral muscle he groaned and let out a hoarse, “I’m not kidding Taylor.  I won’t be able to stop.”  He was breathing hard.

“Neither am I,” she whispered.

He pulled back and stared at her.  “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”  Or hoping she was saying.  He could barely breathe.  He had imagined this moment for a long time.

“Stop talking so much, mister.”  She pushed the t-shirt over his head.  Wow, she thought as she saw the smooth skin and muscles.  Her hands shook as she lightly ran them up his chest.  He moaned softly which spurred her on to touch him even more.

He pulled her night tank over her head quickly and gazed at her rounded, firm chest.  Then he picked her up and carried her over to the bed.  He kissed the top of each of her breasts and she whimpered.  She was full of fire and heat that ran below her belly.  The goose bumps were all over her body.

Sean murmured, “Love those goose bumps.”

He used his tongue and lips on her full breasts.  His hands were shaking.  He felt so completely and totally overwhelmed.  Her soft moans nearly drove him wild.  He tasted her with his lips and tongue and she tasted so good.  He took his time to explore her and touch her.  He could feel her tremble.

She kissed him on his neck and ran her tongue down the side.  Their mingled groans were the only sounds other than kissing.  He pushed his hands below her short bottoms and she started to wiggle against him.  The heat between them made it seem like the air was filled with hot flames.  She moaned and writhed as he gently massaged her breasts and then took a tip into his mouth, gently using his tongue to make them pucker even more.  “Sean,” she moaned.

He finished undressing her and then quickly discarded the rest of his clothing.  They clung to each other, kissing, stroking, and rubbing.  He used his hands, his lips, and his tongue on her.  She was soft and pliant in his arms.  She ran her hands down his chest and pushed the tips of her fingers down softly, lightly stroking the slim line of hair running down to his crotch.

Sean had broken out into a sweat.  He was trying to take his time, he wanted it to be special for her.  He had dreamed about making slow love to her.  He didn’t want to hurry.  He wanted to make her crazy with need.  He used his tongue on her stomach and she moaned again.

She kissed him behind the ear and then used her teeth to gently pull on his ear lobe.  He almost lost it right then.  He was not going to go as slow as he wanted.  He needed her too much.   Her calling his name and the noises she made were almost his undoing.

Taylor returned his kisses with equal passion.  When his tongue went into her mouth, she hesitated and then put hers in his mouth and stroked the top of the roof of his mouth.  He moaned.  He was breathing like he had run on the treadmill for an hour.  He looked at her with heavy, passion filled eyes.  He took her hand and put her fingers into his mouth one at a time as he tasted each one.  Taylor took his hand that was cupping her face and stroked his fingers with her tongue.

They were both making little noises.  She was aching with need and wasn’t sure how much more she could take.  “Sean, please.”

He felt her need as she arched into him, caressing his chest, back, and sliding her hands down to his buttocks.  He pressed her body into his as he kissed and stroked her.  He let her feel his need for her.

He murmured in her ear as he kissed behind it, “You are so beautiful.”

She giggled, “Am not.”

He looked at her with an intensity she had never seen before.  “Yes, you are.  Inside and out.”   He bent his head to kiss her neck and she ran her hands through his hair.

They locked hands and kissed again.  She hooked her leg across his and rested her knee against his hip.  She looked at him with passion filled eyes, “What’s a girl have to do to get you to make love to her?”

He smiled against her shoulder, “I thought that’s what we were doing, woman.”

He pulled a condom out of his drawer.  He was more than ready and felt like he was going to explode into a million pieces as he knelt between her legs.  He reminded himself he had to be gentle.  Her first experience had been bad and he wanted this to be amazing.

“Came prepared?”  She teased him.

“I’ve been prepared for a long time for you, lady.”

“I love you, Sean,” she looked at him and smiled.

He kissed her stomach and murmured, “I love you too, Taylor.  I need you.”  He had never said those words to anyone, but they came easy with her.

He was so hard it almost hurt.   He kissed her mouth again and then slowly began to join their bodies.  She was so tight.  He froze.  “Taylor, have you ever done this before?”

She looked at him shyly and shook her head no.  “But what about…”  He didn’t finish the question when she arched into him and he almost lost all control, she felt so good.

“Sean, please.” She moaned his name and pulled on his back.  She was crying out his name as he began to move.

She couldn’t believe the sensations sweeping across her body and into her very core.  She was writhing beneath him, moaning and groaning.  She had never experienced such intense feelings.  Her body was tingling and building up more and more as the sensations overwhelmed her.

She broke out into a light sweat and her body felt like she was lost in a hurricane of feelings.  Sean kissed her deeply and he realized he was shaking too.  He was going to explode like a hot volcano.  In a huge eruption of sensations, they both cried out and collapsed together in a consumed heap.

When he pushed a lock of hair off her face, she gazed at him, “Wow.”

He grinned that boyish grin she loved, “Yeah.  My sentiments exactly.  Taylor, I thought you had…”

“I couldn’t.  He started to but when I felt him starting to push into me, I panicked and scrambled as fast I could away and I grabbed my pants and ran.  He was furious.  I could hear him screaming at me.  Later, he said it was finish what we had started or he was leaving and he called me a tease and some other names.  I thought it was the same thing as having done it, but I guess I was wrong.”

Sean hugged her tightly.  “I’m humbled that you trusted me and loved me enough to tell me and make love with me.  By the way, how does a woman who knows so little about sex because she has only done it once and then it was a disaster be so good at it?”  He leaned down and kissed her gently.

She giggled, “I read about it on the internet.”

“You read about it?”

She giggled, “Yep.  I wanted to be sure I was a participant and did it right.”

He laughed, “You did it right.  So, you were planning this?”

“Yep.”

He smiled and pulled her close.  She could feel his skin against hers.  She giggled.  He looked at her quizzically, “What’s so funny?”

“I hate sweating, but I think I’ve changed my mind.  Have I told you how amazing you are?”

He laughed, then his eyes became serious, “You are the amazing one.”  They kissed.

He remarked, “You are so sexy.  And I was a nervous wreck on the way home.”

She snickered, “You looked like you were in complete control, officer.”

He smiled, running his finger down her check, “Looks can be deceiving.  I did tell you how beautiful you are, didn’t I?”

“You’re just prejudiced.”

“No, you get a lot of stares when we go out.”

She smiled, “I am usually too busy trying not to stare at you.”

He laughed.  “I was worried when you said you had to talk to me.  I was afraid you were leaving me.”

“Fat chance of that happening, mister.”  She giggled.

His fingers stroked her face.  “I do love you Taylor and I’ve never told anyone that.  But I have something to confess.  Remember when I first met you and took you to that hotel?”

She nodded yes.  He rubbed his hand on the back of his neck, “I knew the elevator was not working.”

She gave him a shocked look, “What?  You knew?”

“Yeah, I had heard about it earlier that day.”

“And what about the other hotels?”

He grimaced, “Well, I was pretty sure they were booked.”

“Pretty sure?”

“Yeah.  95%.  Maybe 90.  85?”

Taylor laughed and kissed him.  “Can I ask why?”

He smiled with his eyes shining in amusement, “I knew I had to get to know you.”

“But why me?  You could have anyone you wanted.”

“I don’t want just anyone.  I want you.  Don’t you realize how incredible you are?”

She shrugged, “I guess I don’t see what you see.”

“Well, you could get any guy you set on, so why me?”

She laughed, “Are you kidding?  Why wouldn’t I?  Who else knocks me down, picks me up, and gives me goose bumps.  Besides my grandmother says, special only comes along rarely.”

“Wise woman.”   He kissed her.

She put her hand to his face and he kissed her palm.  She sighed, “Sean, we have to stop this.”

His brow furrowed, “Stop what?”

“Sex.”

He choked out, “What?”

She laughed, “We need to stop for a while.  You know, I read it’s not about what you do but how often you do it and the article said it was much better if you only did it once a month.”

He looked at her so incredulously, she almost burst out laughing.  “You are joking, right?”

She worked hard on keeping a straight face, “Of course not.  The article was by a famous doctor on the subject.”

He looked like he had swallowed something awful.  She couldn’t help it; she started laughing so hard, she was crying.

Sean caught on and tickled her until she said she was sorry and then made love to her.

At 2 am, she was awake and she ran her hand across his chest and up to his pectorals.  Then she kissed him there and ran her hand down his stomach.

He made a satisfied sound, “Are you trying to seduce me, woman?”

“Yes, is it working?”

“Oh, yeah.”

He moved over her and made love to her slowly and passionately.
