“What the hell are you doing listening to my conversation? If you must know, I met you two around the same time. I didn’t mean for it to happen but it just did.” Capone says angry that she had been listening to his conversation but at the same time upset that he had hurt her. She had shown him true loyalty for whatever reason. He had to find a way to regain his control over her. “So what are you going to do now? You think I’m going to keep this up after this? And who the hell is Derrick? She thinks you are some guy who works at a corporate office. She is talking marriage and kids. I can’t do this. She is going to be devastated when I tell her.”

Capone slaps Tiffany across the face without a lot more force than he had before. Then he grabs her face and in an angry voice, he says, “You not gonna tell her nothing. You are mine. I own you. Derrick is my first name. I do work in a corporate office, sort of. I didn’t lie and I’m sure you know that I didn’t have sex with her. I’m going to handle this my way. You aren’t going anywhere. I have plans for us.” Still holding her face, he kisses Tiffany on her lips and on her neck. He whispers in her ear, “I got this. I’ll see you later.”

He leaves Tiffany standing in the middle of his bedroom, while he goes off to go have a romantic evening with her best friend. And there’s nothing she could do about it.

***

Sienna anxiously waits for Derrick at The Melting Pot near her home. The atmosphere was perfect for a romantic evening. Tonight was the night. She had waited these many weeks to give herself to this man. She couldn’t wait any longer. She knew he was the one. She had tried to call Tiffany but her call went to voicemail. She thought that was odd but she really hadn’t seen much of Tiffany lately. She was always busy or out on a date.

Sienna had prepared for this evening. She had bought a little black dress that was low cut in the front which revealed her best assets—her breasts. She made sure the housekeepers had thoroughly cleaned her house so that it was spotless. She didn’t want Derrick to think she kept a dirty house. Earlier she had gone to the spa to get waxed and get her nails and feet done. She was well manicured all over.

When Derrick entered, he came in with a dozen white roses with one yellow and one red rose in the middle. Clearly he had been listening to her when she said that she loved white roses. He walked over to her and gave her a huge hug and kiss on the lips.

“I am so happy to see you.” He said. “These are for you.”

“Thank you Derrick. You spoil me. I feel bad that I did not bring you anything.” “I didn’t expect you to.” He said. “It is my pleasure to see you happy.”

At dinner, they talk, laugh and eat. All throughout the night, Sienna is touching him and trying to subtly let him know that she wants him. She isn’t sure if he is getting her hints. So she invites him to her home for dessert and some wine. Derrick accepts her offer to follow her to her home. At her house, Sienna, asks Derrick to sit down while she changes her clothes. While she is out of the room, Derrick is sitting in her living room looking around. He says quietly to himself, “Damn! How the hell did I manage to pick up two broads that were best friends?” There was no turning back. He was confused. He loved them both for different reasons. Tiff because she is strong and could take his business to another level, if she was willing. They had similar personalities and she wouldn’t take a lot of bullshit from him. He loved Sin because she is nurturing. She would be there for him no matter what. After tonight, he knew he would have to make a decision. After all, he was in control of this situation not these women. He would never let a woman control him. He might be able to have them both. All three of them could be together.

His dream was interrupted by Sienna returning to the living room wearing a short pink night shirt. He knew that she wasn’t wearing anything under it because he could see her nipples protruding through her nighty. Since he discovered that Tiffany and Sienna were friends, (He found out when Sienna kept talking about how she was worried about her best friend and the guy named Al that she had met.) he tried to refrain from becoming intimate with Sienna but tonight he didn’t think he could. Plus, Tiffany made him mad earlier with all that crap she was talking. Threatening to leave him. She had lost her mind. Women don’t leave him; he lets them go when he’s ready.

Sienna entered the room and stood there waiting. She looked at Derrick and said, “Are you ready?”

Derrick smiled and asked, “For what Sweetie?”

“For me to finish, what you started that night in my hotel room?”

Before Derrick could answer, Sienna had turned down the lights and was now straddled across his lap kissing him and telling him how much she wanted him. Derrick wanted to stop but he couldn’t. Sienna had already unzipped his pants. Derrick didn’t want this to happen like this so he asked her, “Where is your bedroom?” She led him into her bedroom. She had already pulled back her covers and set the mood with low lights and soft music. Derrick kissed Sienna on the lips while he slowly removed her night shirt up over her head. Then slowly ran his hands up and down her exposed body pulling her close to him. Sienna took her hands and continued to remove his pants while he unbuttoned his own shirt. After their bodies were completely exposed to each other. Derrick laid Sienna down on the bed and climbed on top of her. He began kissing her all over.

He whispered in her ear, “Are you sure you are ready?”

“Yes, I have wanted you since our first date. You are what I want.”

She grabs his face and kisses him releasing all the passion that she has built up for him. He kisses her, runs his hands along the curves of her body and then puts himself inside of her. Clearly she had not given herself to one recently because she braced herself with the first few thrust that he gave her. She moaned and groaned with intense pleasure. He could feel each orgasm that she was having. Sienna clutched his back anticipating the intense blows that he was giving her. She hadn’t felt this close to a man in so many years. There was so much passion between them and he was so gentle. She was sure he was the one. Their sexual connection was beautiful.

After they laid in the bed together holding each other and talking, Derrick told Sienna that he couldn’t stay. He had an important meeting in the morning and he had to leave but he would call her tomorrow. Sienna walked him to the door, kissed him good night. Then went back to her bed to lay down and call Tiffany. She couldn’t wait to talk to her. But again there was no answer. This time she went straight to voicemail. At this point, she was worried. Sienna thought that maybe Tiffany had been on a date with Capone or one of her other male friends.

Over the next few days, Sienna has not been able to talk to Tiffany over the phone. They have only been communicating through text messages. She asks Tiffany to meet her but each time Tiffany explains how she is working on a major project and she isn’t able to meet her or she tells her that she has to go out of town. Sienna is anxious to tell Tiffany all about her relationship with Derrick. They have been out on dates several times since they hooked up. She is even ready to introduce him to her mother but she wants Tiffany to meet him first. She decides that if Tiffany won’t come to her, then she will go to Tiffany, at her job.

Tiffany can’t face Sienna knowing that they are seeing the same guy. She needs more time to get her poker face together. In business, it is easy to manipulate and deceive but this was her best friend. In a normal situation, Tiffany wouldn’t care that the guy she was sleeping with was seeing other woman because usually she was dating as well. This situation was totally different. She saw that Sienna had texted her while she was at work. She told her that she would be at work all evening working with her team on a project. The truth was that Capone was coming to pick her up from work to take her out to dinner and thank her for her support. She agreed to go because she was trying to be really cautious when it came to Capone. After all this time, she still wasn’t sure what he was capable of and she didn’t want to find out.

Capone arrived at Tiffany’s office building and rode up in the elevator to the 12th floor where her office was located. He had picked up a dozen roses for her at the florist down the street. He didn’t want to show up at her office empty handed especially since he hadn’t seen her coworkers since the day they met in Fells Point. When he got there Tiffany was just about ready to leave. It was 5:30 and traffic downtown would be backed up. So they choose a restaurant that was within walking distance of her office building.

They got into the elevator and preceded to walk through the lobby. They were talking and laughing. Capone was in mid-sentence when he stopped dead in his tracks and looked ahead. Tiffany was confused until she looked at what he was looking at. Her eyes filled with tears when she saw Sienna standing in the lobby with a gift bag in her hand.

Sienna says with tears in her eyes, “Oh so this is why you can’t return my calls. Apparently you knew something that I didn’t know.”

Derrick says, “You don’t understand. I tried to break it off with you yo, but you pushed yourself on me. I’m a man. What did you expect me to do?”

“Tell me that you were fucking my best friend and that everything you said to me was a lie. How could you do this Derrick? Tiffany?”

***

Tiffany, Sienna and Derrick just stood there in the lobby of the building staring at each other. Tiffany and Sienna with tears in their eyes and Derrick/Capone standing there drenched with an I-don’t-give-a-damn attitude, even though he did care that he had hurt these two beautiful women. Tiffany could not speak. She did not know what to say. She had wanted to tell her friend everything but she felt that her hands were tied. When she tried to speak, she just blew puffs of air with no words or sounds. Sienna breaks the awkward silence and says, “I guess we need a new motto. “If you like fucking Sienna, then you will love fucking Tiffany.” Sienna shook her head, turned and walked away, drowning out the sound of Capone/Derrick’s voice as he was shouting out something behind her back.

Sienna felt a pain in her chest that she could not explain. She wasn’t sure if it was hurt from the shattered vision of the life she had imagined with Derrick or was it hurt from the betrayal that she felt from her best friend. How could they move past this moment? Could they move past this? Sienna went home turned off her cell phone and laid down on her sofa crying. She slowly drifted off to sleep but was awaken by a knock at her door. She got up and opened the door it was Tiffany. “Can we talk?” Tiffany asked with a smile on her face and a large bottle of Grey Goose in her hand.

Chapter 1

At the sound of my alarm going off, I groaned and covered my face with a pillow.
“I can’t believe it’s already time for work. It feels like I just left the place and I’m headed back again,”
I thought.

I grabbed my keys off of my small apartment counter, and checked my ass in the mirror once more before heading out to the old Toyota I had gotten as a graduation gift. My name is Chantel Wilson. I am 23 years old, and I live in Newark, New Jersey. I hadn’t really planned on staying here forever, but when my mom died a few months after my high school graduation, there wasn’t much I could do. So, I got this job at the local bar and I’ve been living pay check to pay check.

Sometimes I feel like I got the job based off of my drop looks and my hard to get personality. I didn’t look 18 at the time I came in for an interview. My body was very well developed. It was full figured and toned. My high cheekbones and straight nose complimented my coiled, soot-black hair. My clear, ebony skin was the icing on the cake. I stood about 5’7, and every part of me flattered each other. My boss, Rasheed, couldn’t take his eyes off of me the first night I worked there. I remember him asking me once if he could be my sugar daddy. It almost made me throw everything I had eaten that day up. Don’t get me wrong, he was not a bad looking old guy, but he was an old guy, and I was not about to throw this ass back for some wrinkly dick just to make it on my own. Who could blame me? Fresh out of high school, no guidance. I definitely had a head for college, but I couldn’t go there with no cash.

Reminiscing on the dark times always made me look for a brighter future. I was never like the other kids in school. I was smarter, I was optimistic, and I had ambition. I was determined to make it out of Newark. My future was going to take me far. It was going to be a future that hopefully included the new Divine Design that just opened today. Divine Design is the hottest apparel store poppin’ right now. Which is why I have no idea what it’s doing in shitty old Newark. I wish I could have made my way down there to meet the CEO, but working on my feet all night long had me some kind of tired and there was no way I was getting out of the bed to stand in a crowd of people. I’ve always loved fashion and I really want to get out and do something with my passion, but I’m waiting on the right time. I gotta get my money right first. No shame in my game. I’m broke, I ain’t poor. My mama taught me that being broke don’t last forever, being poor is eternal.

“I’ll go by there to apply tomorrow,”
I decided as I pulled into the parking lot of ‘The Iron Dragon’. That is the name of the bar where I worked. I checked my phone for the time. Shit, it was 6:30 that is when I was supposed to be clocked in. I quickly grabbed my bags and got out of the car. I ran into the building and clocked in at 6:32. Good thing Rasheed wasn’t around, he’d be all over my black ass about being two fucking minutes late. I turned to go put my jacket and bags in the back office, checking my phone once more, before turning it off for work.
