carry his belongings for their journey home. Then Cull had

lowered the ‘boys’ pants.

Brandr had been somewhat frozen in shock. It was apparent

immediately what Cull wanted. Especially when he laughed and

said he could tell the young pup was untouched by his reaction, but

said he’d still trade for him. Brandr was furious, and still Cull

would not heed Brandr’s warning to stop what he was doing.

Besides, Brandr had found it too difficult to refuse when the boy

had begged for his help. Brandr was sickened by Cull’s tastes;

normally, the man preferred women, but when his need was upon

him, it was apparent nothing was safe or without consideration.

Brandr would never have sold the boy to Cull for that reason and

would have gladly pulverized him. Cull was no fool, though. Still,

the man should have heeded the first warning. Cull was lucky the

knife didn’t embed in his foot. Still, the choice not to trade the boy

would have carried a high price for Brandr.

By offering the ‘boy’ his protection, it would mean Brandr

would have the responsibility of training him—a heavy burden to

him and Rolf. A boy that wasn’t even their son or any blood

relation. It took years of hard work and dedication to train a

warrior. That first night, the boy had eaten so much Brandr was

left wondering where he put it all. He had been hoping it meant he

had some strength. Then he found out he couldn’t even lift a

sword. He had never seen such tiny arms on a boy the age he

presumed him to be. And his hands, they were as small and

delicate as a woman’s. Then the boy had cried.

By the Gods, a boy at his age who cried would have been

laughed out of the village. A warrior in training may as well stone

himself. Brandr and Rolf would be ridiculed as inept failures. He

couldn’t believe a few small cuffs of a hand would send a boy into

hysterics. It had been so embarrassing.
What kind of father does the

boy have?
Then he had realized it didn’t matter. He now belonged

to Brandr. With that realization, Brandr determined he was not

only responsible to take care of the boy, but to care for him. The

thought was sobering. He placed himself in his position which was

easy enough; Brandr had lost his own parents at a young age. He

realized how alone the boy felt. Sympathy had washed over him.

Brandr was happy he possessed compassion and kept

himher. When the thunderstorm struck the second night and the

58

boy tried to climb into his arms he was annoyed, but tried to be

patient. He knew the boy was just afraid, nothing more. Brandr

wasn’t attracted to boys. He had only thrust his penis against his

behind to show how painful it would be if Cull were to have his

way. The man could be merciless. If the boy had run in the night

and Cull had found him, Cull could have laid claim to him. Worse,

if Cull had found him first, the damage would have been done

before Brandr could interfere on his behalf. And Brandr never

knew what way the council would sway. Most had a degree of

compassion—though there was one who was just as vile as or more

so than Cull could ever be.

Brandr had been dismayed when the boy had cried out for

Rolf in the storm. He again wondered just who this other Rolf was

and if he would come and claim the boy. Brandr had wondered if

he would have to protect the boy from this Rolf. Although the

pitiful way he had called the name led Brandr to believe he wanted

him near. The whimpered word was curiously pleading and

somewhat pleasant to his ears. Brandr had given himself a shake

and had been disturbed to think this ‘boy’ was cute when clinging

to him so desperately. Beautiful brown eyes had gazed at him so

sorrowfully, he had been moved to offer comfort. After all he

would train the boy better if boy trusted him.

When he had awoke and the boy was sleeping under him,

Brandr had noted the shirt had risen. A tiny belly tapered to

slender hips. He wanted to see just how much work he and Rolf

had in store to prepare the boy who would need to become a

warrior to survive in this age of unrest. He lifted the shirt higher.

When he had seen small high breasts, he almost bolted. He had

heard of women-men. He had been relieved to feel only her

womanhood under his hand. Perhaps she had run from an abusive

relationship, or unwanted advances; she might even have been a

captured slave from the destroyed village. It didn’t matter, he

claimed her, she belonged to him and he was thrilled. He knew

59

Rolf would be pleased; women were few and far between with the

warring going on; it was always the weak who suffered the most.

His hunting party had had gone out with the intent to find women.

The ravaged village had been a heartache.
Such a waste of life.

Whoever had killed the villagers had been evil.

Brandr had been beyond amazed when he had discovered the

person he had thought to be a boy was a woman. He wondered for

the hundredth time why she had played such a dangerous game.

Many of the villages were warring with invaders and amongst

themselves. She would have been safer if she was dressed as a

woman. He would have laid claim to her then and there and

offered her his protection. There would have been no need to

punish her. Didn’t she realize that he might have killed her in the

clearing when she stumbled upon him? She had been wearing the

garb of a young male warrior in training. Although, upon

reflection, he surmised if she had witnessed the devastated village,

she may have thought a male warrior would be approached with

more caution, since the women had been slaughtered.

When Brandr had claimed Sky, Cull had been angry to

discover she was female and off-limits entirely. Cull insisted she be

punished. A boy who wrongly donned a warrior’s outfit was

lashed. Brandr couldn’t lash a tiny woman. Lud had agreed. Cull

had wanted her behind, to take her as a captive, but Brandr

refused, knowing the man would have had her without mercy. The

spanking had been bad enough and he winced, thinking of the

bruises to her tender bottom. She was so small and defenseless and

had cried so pitifully, he had been tempted to stop at three hits, but

he didn’t want the matter before the council. The council might

have sided with Cull. Their women weren’t beaten; they were

shown dominance and many more might have had her if she were

declared a captive for a day. Since both Lud and Cull agreed it was

enough, the matter would be dropped. There would be no further

punishment. Brandr didn’t ever want to have to hurt her again.

He wished she understood his language. He had never heard

such strange words before. He had so many questions.
Had she cut

her hair to make herself look like a boy?
She must have. No woman he

knew had hair that short unless she was being punished for

something or a slave.
What village is she from? It is all so odd.

Brandr gave his head a shake; he was tired. He could think

more tomorrow. He stripped and settled behind Sky in the furs.

He nuzzled her neck and her hand slipped within his own while she

slumbered. He hoped Rolf had gotten her used to having her

behind taken. He had said he would try again. The next time he

took her that way, he would be more careful until she was

prepared. He was so grateful she was so forgiving. When she had

pressed her cheek to his chest, his heart had hammered with relief.

Sky wasn’t a slave or someone else’s captive. She was his and

Rolf’s. Soon she would wed with them. The idea made him fill

with tender emotion. He squeezed her hand back and settled for

the night.

When Brandr woke, Sky was just beginning to stir. His cock

was hard and throbbing and he pulled her under him. She made a

sound, as though hesitant, but she belonged to him. Her legs were

spread and he slid into her heat. She cried out, waking Rolf.

“I took her rough that way last night. She was fine,” Rolf said,

his voice was a mumble and raspy with sleep.

Brandr grinned. He pumped harder and she moaned and

gasped beneath him, her arms reaching up to clasp his neck and

when he kissed her, she kissed him back. Her legs wrapped around

his waist and she rocked with him. Rolf told him to pull her to her

knees. He complied. Rolf thrust up into her ass and she cried out,

then gasped. Her fingers dug into Brandr’s shoulders and she

whimpered a pleading sound.

“I think she’s still tender there,” he commented.

“I’ll be very gentle,” Rolf said on a grunt.

61

Sky moaned and whimpered as they both took her. From the

look on her face, Brandr was doubly convinced she had never had

two men at the same time. She looked bewildered, like she was

deciding if she liked it. He slid carefully into her, not wanting to

frighten her during her first time. By the Gods, she felt incredible.

Rolf had both her breasts in his hands, kneading them and rolling

her nipples. Her eyes closed and her fingers loosened on his

shoulders. She pressed her cheek against his chest and clung to him.

He could tell she didn’t know whether to meet his thrusts or Rolf’s

and he held her still, making the decision for her.

Sky cried out when she came and Brandr chuckled. Her entire

body quivered under his hands and she pressed so tightly to him it

felt as though she were trying to crawl inside him. She had looked

so surprised the first time she had an orgasm, he wondered if she’d

ever had one before. It had been no wonder she was fearful the

first time he’d taken her. He berated himself for not taking more

time that night to coax her into wanting him. It would have been

nice if her first experience had been better with him. But she had

annoyed him and though Brandr felt she had been ready after his

coaxing, it had been too fast and she had been tired. Sky had

traveled all day and should have known better than to not eat out

of spite. She could have become ill. She was already so tiny;

depriving herself of sustenance would have been dangerous.

Rolf had been angry with her bruising and thought Brandr had

not kept her warm enough when he brought her naked to the hut.

Brandr knew better than to let her catch a chill. He had only

removed the fur from around her when they were almost into the

village. He was proud of her beauty and wanted to show off his

great luck. He wanted the men to see why he would kill any who

challenged him for Sky. Rolf would have been furious if he thought

Brandr had starved her as well as allowing her to take a chill.

Brandr thrust harder and she groaned. His arms wrapped

around her, pulling her closer. Her body was so slender. Warm

62

feelings of protectiveness filled him. Rolf was moving quicker, but

he didn’t let his hips slap against her bottom. Brandr knew her

bruising disturbed his friend. Brandr came hard and removed

himself so Rolf could bend her forward and take her more roughly.

She was crying out, but not sobbing and he knew Rolf wasn’t

hurting her. That was why he liked Rolf so much. They had been

friends forever, though Rolf was a few years older. When Brandr

had lost his parents in a raid, Rolf had taken him under his wing

and helped train him to be the warrior he now was. Rolf’s own

parents were deceased and he allowed Brandr to live in his hut.

They had been friends before the raid, but became closer until they

were inseparable. Rolf took care of him when he had felt lost and

alone. Brandr supposed it was why he had felt compassion for the

boy he thought Sky to be. He understood loneliness. As they grew

older, their bond was unlike anything Brandr had ever experienced

with another. He loved Rolf more than a brother. Both men knew

when they mated, it would be with one woman. Rolf was

compassionate and he grounded Brandr’s sometimes rough

temperament. Brandr liked rough sex. He knew Rolf would coax

Sky into what Brandr needed soon.

Sky cried out again and Brandr knew she had come. She

collapsed into the furs when Rolf released her. She was panting

raggedly and rolled to her side. Brandr was relieved there were no

tears on her face. She looked so cute lying nude in just footwear.

Brandr reached down to untie the laces on her feet. She hadn’t

taken them off the entire time she was in his presence, but she

wouldn’t need them when he carried her to the lake to wash; she

was covered in sweat.

Rolf exclaimed in surprise and Brandr gaped when several

coins spilled from a pouch he uncovered in her moccasin. The men
