Chapter 27

Mirta crossed the street near her home. It was night-time, the place was deserted. She accelerated her steps to get right to her home.

A figure appeared before her. It was in a black cape and its face was covered by a dark hood. She raised her hands to her lips as she was terrified by that creature.

“Who are you?” She took two steps back.

The bizarre figure did not answer her question. It only continued motionless, just watching her trembling movements.

“What do you want from me?” she insisted.

The stranger walked quickly toward her and wrapped her into its black cape.

She had no time to run away.

***

Mirta was thrown to the ground. She had fainted it seemed.  The causative individual left the place before he could be taken by surprise.

At that moment I walked down the street and saw Mirta lying on the floor. I ran to her.

“Mirta!” I looked at her pale face.

I knelt down to see what had happened to her.

“Mirta! It is me... Valkyrie!” I put my hand on her cold face. She was dead. I turned her head to the side and saw blood on her neck.

I  recognized it had been vampire bite.

“Mirta!” I yelled.

Despite everything that had happened between us, I had never wanted her death.

Mirta was used by Eros to affect me.

“He did this to you!” I said aloud.

In my mind there was only one culprit.

Chapter 28

I took Mirta’s body with me and flew over the town with her corpse in my arms. I could not leave her dead on the ground. People would discover the origin of her death.

I stopped flying on top of a cliff in a forest. There was a large, deep hole. No one would find her there.

Then I threw her corpse into it. She disappeared into the depths. I looked at a huge stone and made it move in the direction of the hole, covering it.

Then I disappeared.

Chapter 29

My mother drove to the town to try to resolve some outstanding issues with the bank. Driving her car slowly, she looked to all sides. Then she started her car radio to listen to a song.

She looked forward again and saw an unusual appearance. The same creature that murdered Mirta also appeared to my mother.

Due to fear, my mother lost control of her wheel and her car hit a tree as it veered off the road.

She was wounded.

***

I rushed to the hospital as I knew what had happened to my mother. I walked to her bed.  She was lying down, her head was bandaged and her eyes were closed.

At that moment I stood beside her. I leaned my body to be closer to her.

“Mother,” I said softly.

She opened her eyes and looked up at me. I was relieved to see my mother alive.

“I will not leave you alone,” I said sadly.

“I lost control of my car,” she said.

“It happens,” I completed.

“I saw a black figure in front of me,” she confessed, perplexed.

“Black figure?” I asked as I thought my mother’s story was strange.

“A creature with a black cape. I could not see its face, but it looked like something supernatural!” She explained.

“Are you absolutely sure about that?”

“I saw it ... Valkyrie! It appeared in the air ...” she gave me details.

I had no doubt who my mother was referring to. I just did not want to believe it.

He killed Mirta and tried to kill my mother too.

That explained it all. The killer wanted to affect me.

Chapter 30

I had been transported to Eros’s home.  He was sleeping, hanging from the ceiling with his head down.

“Wake up Eros!” I cried impatiently at him.

He opened his gray eyes and fell down, standing in front of me.

“What are you doing here?” he asked suspiciously.

“I came here to destroy you!” I said seriously.

“Why do you want to destroy me? Is it another fit of jealousy?” His gray eyes faced mine.

“You tried to kill my mother!” I said, hateful.

“I do not know what you're talking about!” He turned his back to me.

“She told me she saw you!”

“Your mother is crazy! I did not do it!” he said turning back to face me.

“You killed Mirta and wanted to kill my mother too!”

“I did not kill Mirta! And why would I do that?”

“You want to affect me, to avenge me!”

“I want nothing of the kind!”

“I will destroy you!” I said.

Energy came out of me and struck against Eros, flinging him against the wall.

“You are not kidding!” Eros realized I wanted to eliminate him.

He returned to me another energy but it was weaker than mine.

I fell to the ground and then I stood up again as I was determined to destroy him.

“I am stronger than you!” I said to him.

“You might have more power, but I know how to use them better than you,” he said as he dominated my body with his own hands. I could not get out of his clutches.

“Let me go, Eros!” I screamed.

“See how weak you are!” He said sarcastically.

“I will devastate you!” I shouted again.

“Do it!”

I made contradictory movements, trying to find a way to break away from his arms. But Eros was holding me with more force.

Then I tried another way to escape from him. I threw my power to all sides. The wall and the ceiling cracked and pieces of concrete fell to the ground.

“Destroy everything!” Eros said laughing at the stupid things I did. “You'll waste all your powers and will not get anywhere with it!” he warned me.

Bizak appeared in our presence and screamed at Eros.

“Eros, free her!”

Eros looked at Bizak with hatefulness. He threw me to the side and attacked Bizak.

The two vampires rolled on the ground, punching each other. Both wished for an opportunity like this, to be face to face with each other.

Eros had more ability than Bizak to strike.  But Bizak left to fight using his hands and began to use his vampire powers against Eros. He flung Eros against the wall several times and Eros did the same to him.

The two had a difficult dispute.

***

Sometime later the two vampires were exhausted and very wounded. I watched everything, even I though I had fallen on the floor, next to the wall.

Eros and Bizak were up, standing, looking at each other from a distance, recovering their energies to engage in a new confrontation.

I stood up to intervene in their dispute.

“Valkyrie, destroy Eros!” Bizak shouted at me. “He tried to kill your mother!” he insisted.

I was positioned to react against Eros.

Strong visions came to my mind. I saw the moment when the killer interrupted Mirta’s life. Then I saw the moment when my mother suffered a car accident and I also saw the figure as it appeared in her way.

At that moment I was sure of who was the real killer.

“Valkyrie, destroy him! You have the power to do it!” Bizak persisted.

A long power wrapped around my hands, a force I had never felt before. I was prepared to destroy my enemy.

I stared at Eros, intending to destroy him.

At that moment, however, I flung my powers over Bizak who was standing looking at me.

The impact of my energy destroyed him at once.

He became ash.

Eros was innocent.

Bizak planned everything so that I could believe that Eros was the culprit.

Chapter 31

After Bizak’s destruction, I stayed in the house. Eros was wounded. He would need my help to recover faster. I held his arm, intending to help him.

“Are you wounded?” I asked.

“Stay away from me!” He pulled his arm violently from my hand.

“I want to take care of you.”

“You wanted to destroy me ...Now you want to take care of me?”

“I thought ...”

He did not let me continue talking.

“You thought wrong! I do not need you!” he said, hatefully.

“Forgive me, Eros!” I implored.

“Should I forgive you? You wanted to destroy me!” He looked into my eyes. “You acted worse than your father ...He banished me out of Neptune, but he never wanted to destroy me.”

“I just thought of my mother.” I lowered my head. “I had no choice.”

“Get out!” he ordered.  “Never try to cross my path again.”

Tears of blood appeared on my pale face.

Eros was expelling me out of his life. He had a different face. He seemed to carry a hatred for me.

“What are you waiting for? Be gone!” he said loudly.

Courage entered my heart.

I hadn’t done what Eros ordered me to, although I should respect his wishes. I stopped in front of him, proud and sure of myself.

What I was about to do could change my life forever.

I deposited all my hopes in that single moment.

The full moon was a scene for us, pointing out of the window.

I held Eros’s face firmly. He had no way to escape out of my hand. My strength had neutralized him.

This was the most exciting moment of my life.

I stared into his gray eyes and he also stared into my supernatural eyes. The moon recorded the occasion when my lips absorbed Eros’ lips. We were covered by a pleasant murmur.

Everything revolved around me.

I was dreaming ...A dream from which I would never wake up because it was reality.

Moments later my lips came off from his. He was dazed and stunned at our kiss. Then he put his hands to his lips to make himself sure that all was well with him and his mouth was perfect.

Eros had never felt any desire for beings of our species, but our kiss had stirred something in his emotions.

I saw it in him.

“I love you!” I said with tenderness of a passionate vampire.

He said nothing, just recovered from his dizziness and disappeared quickly...

I looked up at the sky through the open window and saw an owl flying away.
