Vegenrage: Dragon Reclaim (33 page)

Cormygle has a deep wound in his side left by Farrah’s attack, but he and Xanorax, who is still in his saddle, head for the weaker dwarves and elves, hoping to get hostages to halt Vegenrage, but they are quickly met by Farrah. She flies right at Cormygle, shooting Dragonslaying Hands from her left hand and grabbing Quadrapierce from her left bicep sheath. Cormygle is hit in his left side and, like he was punched with a massive fist, flies sideways and falls toward the ground, regaining his flight just before impacting. Farrah charges right at Xanorax and lances him right through his left side just under his left nipple. He grabs the hilt of her sword as she drives right through him, knocking him off and staking him to the ground and leaving him there, stuck to the ground by her sword. She stands and pulls Quadrapierce from her left forearm sheath and can sense that Cormygle is behind her. He lunges his head sideways to grasp her in his jaws, but he cannot move fast enough to counter Cleapell, and Farrah turns, slashing a deep wound just between his right eye and his nose, leaving a bleeding and painful wound. He backs away, stunned and in pain. Farrah turns to Xanorax, who is staked to the ground, and swings, looking to make a deadly strike to his head. Xanorax has released his Life Stealer and blocks the sword with his right blade. While the two blades are in contact with each other, he throws his left blade that enters the stomach of Farrah and sends her back staggering to the ground with the Life Stealer through her stomach. She drops Quadrapierce and falls to her knees. Cormygle sees his chance to return a painful and lethal bite to her and goes to bite her when Logantrance flies up.

“Get away from her, dragon.” He is flying in just above the head of Cormygle and magically kicks Cormygle in the head, sending him staggering to the left. Oriapow comes in right behind Logantrance with a Fist of Power spell coming right down on the top of his head, driving it right into the ground. Xanorax finally pulls free from the earth and pulls Quadrapierce from his chest and drops the sword, walking toward Farrah to touch his Life Stealer so he can steal her life force.

“I don’t think so, demon.” Rifter takes aim and lets loose a magical arrow from Fearpierce, and it strikes Xanorax just above his right eye and slices a deep wound right through his head, exposing his brain. Xanorax’s right arm flails in the air, and his Life Stealer sword falls back into place on his arm, and he staggers to the left, stumbling and falling, twitching from this lethal wound. Cormygle forcefully raises his head from the earth and releases his Breath of Carbon Spikes at Oriapow who flies over his head to evade the deadly breath attack. Cormygle follows Oriapow right into the path of the charging dwarves and elves. Blythgrin gets off his earth elemental just in time, and it attacks Cormygle, grabbing him by the head and turning it down to the side, stopping his breath attack just before it devastates the party.

This is amazing. The earth elemental is hulking and has Cormygle by the head. Cormygle thrusts his head side to side, and the elemental sways with him, squeezing and turning his head toward the ground, trying to bring the dragon to his side. Grenlew casts another earth elemental, and it attacks. It runs up and punches Cormygle in the side over and over, forcing him to the ground, and the two of them begin to pulverize Cormygle with crushing punches.

Cellertrill is running right for Xanorax, and he has his magnificent new Foarsbleem sword, the Swooping Death. It is one of the most odd-looking swords ever. It looks like a question mark. Very heavy at the top, making the swing very fast and more powerful than the swing of any other sword. It swings so fast that a blue tint streaks the air it passes through. Cellertrill had dreamed about the design of this sword his whole life, and now he is wielding it. He runs right for Xanorax, looking to release his body from its head, but before he makes it to him, a terrible creature rises from the earth in front of him. It is Maulplice who survived a previous encounter with dragons, and he has risen to protect his master, Xanorax.

“What is this? Another demon?” Cellertrill swings at the large clawlike appendage at the top of Maulplice’s head, severing it, and it falls to the ground. He quickly does the same to the other claw on the other side of his head, but the effect is not what he had hoped for. The claws fall to the ground, but they grow into new smaller replicated Maulplices, and now Cellertrill has three of them to deal with. Rifter starts blasting it with arrows as does Kearsebe and Shastenbree. These arrows effectively push back the demon and punch holes in him, but Maulplice begins to split and split and so on until there are dozens of them, and now Silgeqwee and Krimzill are here, hacking away with their Fireod swords as well.

Vegenrage is concentrating and focusing all of his magical energy on Vemenomous and Zevoncour, and they are about to be destroyed when behind Vegenrage rises Zenondour, the demon king of Fargloin. Zenondour swings his massive closed fist, striking Vegenrage to the back right side of his head, slamming him violently to the ground, and Zenondour stands on Vegenrage’s head, burying it in the earth. Vegenrage is out cold and suffocating.

“And you are my master. Looks like you should bow to me.” Zenondour watches as Zevoncour and Vemenomous regain and form back that takes a good minute. When Zevoncour regains his form like a shadow, he darts at Zenondour, grabbing him by the throat and pushing him off Vegenrage.

“You are my little girl, Zenondour.” Zevoncour points his left index finger at the forehead of Zenondour, and a sharp long round black nail grows from his finger. He punctures the forehead of Zenondour and pulls it down from his forehead down the center of his nose, cutting a gaping wound, and Zenondour cringes and smiles, loving the pain and bloodstreams from his wound.

“Yes, Zevoncour, I love it.”

“Yes, you do, Zenondour. Now go take care of the rest of the humanoid races, but this one here and the female are needed alive.”

“Yes, my master.”

The elven and dwarven warriors, along with the bow users, are slicing and blasting the continually replicating Maulplice spawn, while Whenshade and Tunull have worked together to cast a very powerful spell of Starlight that is lethal to demons. They have said the magical words in unison as Whenshade directs the attack, and Tunull targets all the replicated demons. This spell is brilliant. The sky is clear, but mist gathers, forming clouds that grow big and fluffy. The clouds start to spread apart as brilliant diamond white lights start to shoot to the ground. This is a random event, and many lights shoot down followed by more and more Starlights. They shoot down like lasers, and each Maulplice that is struck looks up screaming as it disintegrates. The demon continues to split and split, and now there are so many of them that they are all over the place. They charge full speed, and there are too many of them to cope with. Kearsebe is overrun. They are all over him and biting and gouging out chunks of his flesh. He fights bravely but is eaten right in front of the others who try to knock the demons off him but cannot, and Kearsebe is killed.

Logantrance has drawn both of his golden staffs and walks toward the Maulplice horde, pointing his staffs at them and casting the White Flame of Krinston. This spell was created purposefully to kill demons, and Logantrance learned this spell from
The Magic of Krinston
, the book written by Ledgehorn. Demons are completely immune to fire, but the white fire in the form of starlight kills them instantly, and the elves have mastered this magic though it takes them a long time to cast. The same is true for Logantrance, but he is now walking down the one demon who is many, and white fire is shooting from his staffs, incinerating all the replicated Maulplices. They cannot escape Logantrance, and he gets them all.

Meanwhile, Trybill has regained his strength and casts another earth elemental, and now three of them are pulverizing Cormygle. Cormygle is massive and strong. He swings his head back and forth, trying to shake the elemental that has him by the head, but he can’t. It just flows with him. He swings his tail at the other elemental, and it dissipates as his tail crushes it, but it reforms and punches with great force in his belly and so on. Now a third elemental starts to punch into his hind legs and grabs them, pulling him to the ground. Cormygle tries to fly, but the elementals keep on with punching attacks, and every time he moves to the left or the right, he is slammed with a powerful punch. His head is being knocked back and forth. His legs are getting slammed, and he is becoming sore all over. His body is solid muscle, but he is being punched so hard over and over that all his muscles are becoming tender to the slightest touch, and he has not been able to cast any magic. Xanorax has been wounded so badly he cannot think straight and will need some time to heal yet.

Tunull runs to Farrah and pulls the Life Stealer blade from her stomach and throws it to the side. Farrah falls back on the ground, holding her bleeding stomach. Tunull holds his hands over her stomach. “Hold on, Farrah. Hold on. You are going to be okay.” He begins to heal her, and with her magic, the wound in her stomach begins to heal. It closes, and she opens her eyes with a deep inhale. “Thank you, Tunull.” Tunull stands and reaches his hand to help Farrah up. She sees Vemenomous land behind Tunull with a loud thud as his feet land on the ground. Tunull stands straight with a horrible look in his eyes. Vemenomous thrusts his right hand right through the back and chest of Tunull and crushes his heart in his fist, squirting blood all over Farrah. He then swings his right arm up and over his shoulder, throwing Tunull’s dead body through the air behind him. Farrah looks up horrified as Vemenomous grabs her head with his left hand. His hand is so large that his fingers go down the base of her neck, and he punctures her back with the claws at his fingertips. His thumb claw punctures her left shoulder in the front. She starts to shake as Vemenomous enters her mind. “My queen, we have finally been brought together. It has been so long, but finally, we are together, and our union is now close. You are my queen, and you always have been.”

Everyone notices this, and all the dwarves, elves, and Logantrance charge to Farrah’s rescue. They shoot magic, arrows, and swords, and Logantrance is shooting his White Flame of Krinston from his staffs. Zevoncour rises between Vemenomous, Farrah, and her rescuers and raises a red light dome that deflects all the magic, swords, and arrows away. “Back!” he yells, and they are all thrown back some ten yards, landing on their backs. Zevoncour laughs loudly, echoing throughout the plane of Vollenbeln. “This was always meant to be. You could not stop what was written. You cannot stop the rising of the demons. Elves, dwarves, humans, and even dragons have all played their part perfectly. Demons can now walk the outer realms. All of us demons can, and you are now under my rule. To show you all my generosity, I will let you all live, well, those of you that are still alive, that is.” Zevoncour laughs. “I will let you live, and when I come for you, you will bow to my supremacy. You will be given the choice to follow my rule or die under my rule. The choice will be yours. For now, I am feeling well, nice, so I will let you all live.”

Vemenomous has been charming Farrah, and she cannot fight him. He has taken over her mind, and her eyes turn solid bloodred. She is shaking like she is in a lot of pain, and while Zevoncour and Vemenomous have the attention of everyone, Zenondour walks up to Xanorax and puts the fingers of his right hand right into the belly of Xanorax. “Rise, Xanorax. Rise, our number one lieutenant.” The wound on Xanorax’s head heals up, and Zenondour pulls his fingers out of Xanorax’s stomach. He sits up and crawls over to the blade laying on the ground, and it attaches back into his hand, and then his Life Stealer forms back into his body. He stands and walks to the side of Zevoncour, along with Zenondour. Vemenomous raises his hand from Farrah’s head, leaving bleeding wounds from where his claws had penetrated her, and she falls back unconscious. He walks up beside Zevoncour as well.

“Cormygle, are you done playing with your friends yet?” Cormygle is being pulverized by brutal punches. The elementals never seem to lose any energy, and they have been relentless. “Get them off me, Zevoncour. Get them off me.” Zevoncour laughs and walks over to Cormygle. He grabs the first elemental he comes to by the head, and it faces him, throwing a brutal punch into his stomach. When the fist of the elemental hits Zevoncour, it falls lifeless dirt to the ground. Zevoncour grabs the other two elementals, and when they punch him, they fall lifeless to the ground. Zevoncour looks at the dwarves. “Remember, little ones, I am from within the earth. I own the earth and all its properties. I will be coming for you all, and when I do, bow to me or die. I will give you all a little while to think about our next encounter.” Zevoncour snaps his fingers with a smile and levitates over the podium. The
Wogenkeld
that somehow made its way back onto the podium floats over to his hand, and he descends into the podium. Zenondour levitates over the podium and descends into it as well. The podium shrinks down and disappears. Vemenomous jumps into the air and flaps his powerful wings, vanishing through a Dimension Door. Xanorax levitates over to Cormygle, and Cormygle is in obvious pain. He struggles to fly up, and the two of them fly through a Dimension Door as well.

“Logantrance, they have left Farrah and Vegenrage. Why would they do that?”

“Let’s get to them. Come on, everyone.” The party follows Logantrance to Farrah who is still unconscious. The dwarves try to revive her, and Logantrance and Oriapow head over to get Vegenrage.

“Vegenrage, Vegenrage, come on, my boy. Wake up.” Logantrance lifts Vegenrage to a sitting position and uses a little magic that revives him, and he hold his head that is bleeding and hurting. Vegenrage puts his hands on his head and sits there for a little while, healing himself and taking away the pounding headache that he has.

“Logantrance, Oriapow, what happened?”

“The demons have found a way to walk on the outer realms. Come, let us go to Farrah. She is still unconscious.” They get up and go to Farrah. They get to her, and Vegenrage notices a few less people. The party has lost Reger, Dormins, Elkwar, Kearsebe, and Tunull. They all look at Vegenrage, and the sadness starts to set in now that they can calm down a little bit. Glimtron grabs Vegenrage by the arm. “We cannot wake her, Vegenrage. She has bad wounds around her neck and shoulder.” Vegenrage kneels by Farrah and puts his hand on her head, looking at the wound to her neck. He begins to heal her, but she does not wake. “Vegenrage, what is it?”
