Whatever It Takes (18 page)

She began working fast to free him from his jeans. He sucked
in a sharp breath when she wrapped her fingers around his cock and gripped him
possessively. Making frantic little whimpering sounds, she rose up far enough
to guide him into her. He held her hips and pulled her down as he thrust up.
She cried out as his length entered her body. They both sighed when he hit
bottom and took a moment just to savor the feeling of giving their bodies what
they’d been craving for more than a month.

After a moment, urgent need overtook both of them. Mason
buried a hand in her hair and pulled her down into a desperate kiss. Laurie
kissed him with fervor as she rocked her hips in an erotic rhythm. He slipped a
hand between them and pressed his thumb against her clit, and her body jerked
as she released a surprised cry. Groaning and thrusting against each other
frantically, they both came quickly and loudly.

Once sated, they stared at each other while they tried to
catch their breath in the quiet of the car, neither of them quite ready to
speak yet. Headlights shone in the distance, almost illuminating the interior
of the car, and Laurie gasped.

“Holy shit. Did we just give someone a free show? We shouldn’t
have done that.”

Mason cupped her face in his hands and pulled her to him for
a gentle kiss. “I know, but I wouldn’t take it back even if I could. I’ve
missed being inside you, Angel.”

Laurie laughed nervously as she leaned back and raked her
hair out of her face. She glanced around, clearly paranoid someone could see
them.

“Anyone could have walked right up and caught us. You know
this is actually illegal, right? I mean, I don’t want to get arrested for
indecent exposure.”

“Relax, nobody saw us.” Mason chuckled as he caressed the
sides of her breasts, studying them with a fascinated smile. Her darkish
areolas and nipples were a striking contrast to her pale skin, and he found the
combination amazingly erotic. They looked almost as delicious as they tasted.

“You can’t possibly know that,” Laurie argued, trying to
brush his hands away so she could close her bra.

He removed her hands and insisted on fastening it for her.
Then he pulled her shirt down and took a moment to smooth out the wrinkles.

“Someone could have seen us and called the police. For all
we know, they could be on their way to arrest us right now.”

“It’s too dark to see in the windows.”

Laurie frowned and smacked his shoulder. He let out a
surprised laugh and looked up at her as she gazed out the windows.

“You don’t know that for sure. How can you be so calm? I can’t
believe we—” She froze and looked at his face.

He smirked and flexed again. Laurie gasped when she realized
he was still inside her and rapidly getting hard again. She squawked and raised
herself off him. He let her go, although he was tempted to thrust into her
again. She leaned back and tried to pull her skirt down while he tucked himself
back into his jeans. He grabbed her ripped panties from the driver’s seat and
held them up.

“Sorry,” he said sheepishly.

She rolled her eyes and smiled. He closed his fist around
the ruined fabric and pulled his shirt down. Both of them still had their
jackets on so Mason was confident that even if someone spotted them, they
couldn’t really see anything past their outer clothes.

“We should go,” Laurie said quietly.

Mason nodded and then kissed her one more time before he
opened the door so she could climb out. Once she was clear, he stood up out of
the car then grabbed her, spun her around and placed her in the passenger seat.
The movement was so quick it caused her to release a surprised squeak. He
laughed as he shut her door, then he jogged through the rain to the driver’s
side. He was truly happy for the first time since he woke up and found Laurie
gone a month earlier.

Chapter Sixteen

Laurie looked up at the two-story wood-frame house. The
windshield was dotted with raindrops but she still had a good view. It had a
small front yard surrounded by a low picket fence with peeling paint. A high
covered porch went the length of the front of the house and held a porch swing
that was hanging loose on one side. The glow of lights shone through several
windows. The sight looked warm and inviting against the rainy night.

“Where are we?” Confusion creased her brow as she continued
to gaze at the house.

“This is my house,” Mason told her. “I wanted to show it to
you.”

Before she could respond, he was out of the car and moving
to the passenger side. A moment later, he opened her door and helped her out.
She smiled at him nervously as he took her hand and led her through the rain
toward the house. She continued to study the structure, noting that it appeared
a little run-down but she could envision how it would look with a little work.
The porch creaked under their weight and the swing rocked eerily in the wind as
Mason unlocked the door.

They took a moment to remove their muddy shoes and wet
jackets in the entryway before moving farther into the house. The living room
contained older but well-kept furniture, which Laurie assumed the previous
owner had left behind. Several boxes were still stacked up around the room and
the walls were bare of any décor. It didn’t look like Mason spent much time in
there. Once again, Laurie could see the potential of the place. With a little
work it could be nice and homey.

“You’ll have to excuse the mess,” he said as she surveyed
the room. “I’ve been kind of busy and I just haven’t gotten around to putting
stuff away and setting up…not that I’d know what to do anyway.”

Laurie smiled at him then turned her attention back to the
house, moving on to the dining room, which contained an enormous table that
looked as if it had only been used a handful of times over many years. From her
vantage point, she could see a small kitchen beyond the dining room. The light
above the sink illuminated it just enough for her to see that it was old
fashioned but cute. Overall, it had a warm, comfortable feeling to it. Laurie
turned around to find Mason standing in the living room, watching her fixedly.
She walked back toward him and stood with the coffee table in between them.

“It’s really great, Mason. I can’t believe you found this
place. You could do so much with it.”

He shoved his hands into his pockets and continued to gaze
at her until she started to become uncomfortable. Just when she was ready to
start squirming, he smirked at her then pulled his hand out of one pocket and
tossed her torn panties on the coffee table. She looked at them then back at
him, blushing at the memory of her brazen behavior.

His eyes were intense as he began to make his way around the
coffee table, moving slowly and smoothly in that animal-like way of his. She
bit her lip and moved to counter him, keeping the coffee table between them. He
stopped and studied her for a moment with a gleam in his eye. A prickly
sensation spread throughout her body as she realized her move had provoked a
primal response in him. She’d become his prey and a game of cat and mouse had
begun. His body tensed and he looked ready to pounce. He moved again and once
again, Laurie countered his move. A wicked grin spread across his face as he
lunged for her without warning. She squealed and darted out of his reach. When
he came for her again, she jumped on top of the coffee table and bounded off
the other side, running for the dining room. She heard him laugh—he was right
behind her.

She intended to get to the other side of the dining table
but he caught her before she could get more than three steps into the room. He
wrapped his arms around her and pulled her against him in a steely embrace. She
giggled and squirmed, trying to break free of him but stilled when his erection
pressed against her backside.

“Thought you were going to get away, huh?” he whispered
against her ear.

His warm breath sent shivers down her spine. A tiny moan
escaped her as her nipples became hard. She got so wet in anticipation of what
was coming next that she thought it might drip down her leg.

“Sorry, Angel, you’re not getting away from me again. I’m
going to make sure of that.”

He gave her neck a slow, sucking kiss and cupped her
breasts, rubbing his thumbs over the erect nipples. Laurie rocked her hips so
she ground her ass against his cock, and his breath quickened. He spun her
around and lifted her to the table, then squeezed himself into the space
between her legs. He covered her lips with his in a possessive, demanding kiss.
She melted into his arms and ran her hands through his hair, pulling herself
closer to him. His hands seemed to be everywhere at once and Laurie quickly
realized she was naked from the waist up.
When did that happen?

“Not fair,” she whispered, working her hands under his shirt
as his lips left a trail of fire down her throat.

He allowed her to push his shirt up then whipped it over his
head and tossed it aside before he turned his attention back to kissing her.
Laurie ran a hand down his front and found his dick hard and straining against
his jeans. She traced it through the fabric and he groaned and pressed harder
against her. She was ready for him and began to work open his belt buckle. He
brushed her hands away and took a small step back. Laurie looked up at him,
confused by his action. He smiled at her, breathing heavily, and shook his
head.

“I’m going to fuck you in every room of this house, Angel,
but first things first.” He swiftly lifted her off the table and tossed her
over his shoulder.

She made a surprised noise as he spun around and ran for the
stairs. She panicked for a moment, afraid she may be too heavy and he would
drop her on the stairs. She tried to protest but he just smacked her soundly on
the ass as he took the stairs two at a time.

“Quiet, woman, I’m not going to drop you. Stay still and
take your medicine.”

At the top of the stairs, Mason kicked open a door and a
moment later he dumped her out of his arms and onto his big, new bed. It had
four tall, square posts and an almost sheer canopy with curtains that hung down
the sides. It reminded him of something that might be found in a medieval
castle. He imagined he was a barbarian king and he was about to take his woman
in a bed fit for a queen.

“Wow, it’s beautiful,” she said, glancing around, trying to
see as much of the bed as she could.

Mason nodded, still gazing hotly at her. He was far from
finished with her. He grabbed the bottom of her skirt and yanked it off her in
one smooth motion, leaving her completely naked.

“It was expensive.” He unbuckled his belt and whipped it
through the loops then tossed it aside. “The most expensive goddamn piece of
furniture I’ve ever bought. I just rolled over and played dead for the bastard
sales guy. I bought the whole set.”

He unbuttoned the fly of his jeans and slowly began sliding
them down his hips. Laurie propped herself on her elbows and stared. He smiled,
enjoying the way she gazed so appreciatively at his cock.

“And it’s all your fault.”

His words apparently caught her attention because her gaze
moved from his shaft to his face as he continued to advance on her.

“My fault?”

“As soon as I saw it, I thought of all the wicked things I
wanted to do to you on this bed. I would have spent every fucking penny I had
on it.”

He crawled above her and pushed her down flat on her back.
Resting his weight in the cradle of her pelvis, he lowered his mouth to her
breasts. He licked one dusky-hued nipple and let out a groan of pleasure at the
taste of her. He looked up at her again.

“I’ve lain here night after night, thinking about you.” He
scented her. “The way you smell.” He licked her nipple again. “The way you
taste. All the ways I wanted to fuck you and how I wanted you to fuck me.” He
moved up her chest, stopping to nibble on her collarbone before turning his
attention to her neck. “You’re about to find out all of that firsthand.”

Laurie opened her mouth to respond but he captured her lips
and invaded her mouth with his tongue. The taste of her made his whole body
throb and he released a small growl as he eased his straining cock into her.
She was slick and hot, and he glided in easily. She moaned against his mouth as
he stretched and filled her completely. When he hit bottom, he heard her let
out a pleased whimper and he took a moment to savor the feeling of being joined
with her again. He smiled and leaned back so he could look into her eyes as he
withdrew and plunged back into her again. He caught her wrists and pinned her
arms on either side of her head as he continued thrusting.

“You shouldn’t have left me, Laurie. I’ve been miserable for
the last month and now I’m going to make you pay for it.”

Laurie stared up at him lustfully as he tightened his grip
on her wrists and took full possession of her body. With her arms pinned down
and her legs spread wide, she was completely at his mercy and he wanted to keep
her there forever.

She looked at him with such fire that it nearly sent him
over the edge and he reminded himself to be careful. He was large and she was
small, and he wanted her so badly, he was afraid he would get too rough and end
up hurting her. Keeping himself reined in, he pushed into her as deep as he
dared. He had good intentions but she wrapped her legs around him and raised
her hips to meet him in an obvious demand for more. The movement brought him
deep in her channel and she gasped and then arched toward him again. A smile played
at his lips. He knew better than to underestimate his wild little Angel. Easing
up on the tight control he had over himself, he began to thrust into her
harder, loving the little, high-pitched moaning noise she made each time he hit
bottom. She was getting close—he could feel the tension coiling in her and he
couldn’t wait to see her come undone again. He lowered his mouth to hers again,
kissing her hungrily as her body began to clench around him. When her muscles
began to spasm, she turned her head away from his, and cried out his name as
she came. Fueled by her cries, he let go of her wrists, gripped her hips and
thrust into her hard and fast in a pounding pace. His breath came in quick
pants and his heart pounded frantically as he pulled her firmly against him and
came as deep inside her as he could get.

With his heart still thundering in his ears, he could hear
her panting beneath him. She still had her legs wrapped tightly around him and
her inner muscles still embraced him tightly. He lowered his forehead to hers
and let out a breathless laugh. She smiled shyly and then kissed the tip of his
nose. His whole body trembled and both of them were drenched in sweat. He
gently kissed her lips and slowly withdrew from her as she released her grip
with her legs. He flopped onto his back and tried to slow his breathing.

Their first time together had been exciting, new and
completely amazing, but somehow this time had surpassed it. This time he wasn’t
longing for the unknown. He knew what he wanted because he’d tasted it before—it
was the most incredible thing he’d ever experienced and he needed more. This
time wasn’t like giving in to desire. It was a need, an addiction. He turned
his head and gazed at her flushed face as she stared up at the canopy of the
bed. He was certain that he’d never get enough of her but he was going to have
a lot of fun trying. A lifetime of fun, in fact.

As her breathing and heartbeat returned to normal, Laurie
stared up at the canopy of the bed, savoring the feeling of Mason gently
caressing her as she lay in his arms. She glanced over at him and found he was
gazing at her. She shifted on the bed, feeling uncomfortable under his
scrutiny.

“What?” she asked, feeling herself blush.

Mason continued to stare at her a moment longer. She didn’t
think he was going to respond and started to turn her head away.

“I’m in love with you,” he stated, matter-of-factly.

She whipped her head back toward him, shocked by his words.
Her heart began to pound as she looked in his eyes, searching for any trace
that he was deceiving or making fun of her. She sat up and turned to look back
at him, not sure what to say. She’d known she was in love with him for a while
but for some reason, hearing him say the words scared her to death.

The urge to flee overtook her. He must have sensed her
reaction because he grabbed her before she could make a move. She struggled for
a moment as he pulled her back against him, turning her so her chest was
against his and they were face-to-face.

“It’s true, Laurie.” He gripped her chin and forced her to
look into his eyes. “Talk to me, Angel.”

She took a deep breath, closed her eyes and tried to force
her panic away. She was afraid to tell him how she felt because in her
experience, everyone eventually left, and she didn’t think she could take it if
he became one of the people in her life who disappeared. A war went on inside
her head. She had not heard the words
I love you
since her parents had died
and she wasn’t sure if she could trust those words from anyone.

Finally, she looked at him and her chest tightened as she
realized he was offering her something precious, something he’d never offered
to anyone else—his heart. He’d been abandoned as a child, been hurt, let down
by people he should have been able to trust, just as she had been. Yet there he
was, taking a chance, making himself vulnerable, offering himself to her and
trusting her not to break him. In that moment, it dawned on her that she was
about to let her past make decisions about her future. She knew she was
stronger than that and Mason deserved better from her. She steeled herself and
fought away her doubt and fear, then looked into his eyes.
