Whispers in the Dark (5 page)

I fell onto my bed, my face hurting from the smile that was almost breaking my face open.

What a night.

Lena never came back that day. Apparently, she and Justin hit it off as well.

Tristan and I spent the entire weekend together—unpacking his place and getting to know each other. By Sunday night, we were exhausted and curled up across the hall in my apartment.

“I wish I didn’t have to go to work tomorrow. I want to stay with you,” I said with a sigh.

“That sounds a bit needy.” I pouted. He smirked at me, his hand cupping my cheek. “And I feel the same way.”

His lips pressed to mine, and I melted against his chest.

Thing were looking up for me in the love department. I was pretty certain he was going to be my happily ever after, and I had a broken elevator along with a thunderstorm to thank for it.

The next weekend, the water main broke.

Tristan took me camping.

No zombies, no dragons. Just the two of us…and a few bras.
