“He wants to be sure you’re okay. He brought flowers.” He dug in a wardrobe and tossed her a faded t-shirt. “You can put this on, it’ll be softer than the hospital gown.”

She pulled it over her head but not before noticing his gaze was fixed firmly on her breasts. She winked at him and teased the t-shirt down over her bare chest.

“Woman, you make my blood boil.” He leaned in and kissed her, deeply, leaving her breathless and panting. And with the knowledge that she wasn’t alone. She didn’t only have her father, now she had Dal, too. It felt solid, like something she could count on.

“He said he’d only stay a minute,” Dal said, pulling away. “I’ll bring him up, okay?”

He backed away from her, his eyes fixed on hers, a large grin on his face. “I’ll bring him up?” he asked again.

She shrugged, palms in the air. “Why not?”
