Winter's Kiss (32 page)

He had been ready to protect her. Even though this was her home, he had been on his guard, standing sentinel beside her in case they dared attack her. She smiled at the sense of familiarity and realised that, in this respect, Winter would never change. He would always be there to protect her.

She squeezed his hand and continued walking towards her door.

“Would you like to see your new quarters, or my old ones?” she said when she stopped in front of her
bedroom
door.

Winter’s eyes darkened and she could almost see his thoughts as they crossed his mind—memories of the times they had spent together in this room. She knew he was thinking about them because she was replaying them too—every touch, kiss and brush of their bodies. Every sweet word and feeling.

“I do not care where I am, Nika,” he whispered, dipping his head towards hers, “as long as I am with you.”

She kissed him, her arms snaking around his neck and holding him against her, her lips brushing his so lightly that she tingled all over and ached for more. She could kiss him all night and day and still not be satisfied.

“I love you,” Nika breathed against his lips between increasingly urgent kisses. “I’ve loved you for so long now.”

His mouth slanted against her, his kisses brief but passionate, bursts of desire and hunger that made her stomach hot and her body tremble.

“I have loved you for years,” Winter said and her heart exploded with warmth and happiness. “I will never leave you again.”

She pulled him against her, filled with a desperate need to feel his body on hers and kiss him.

He loved her. She hadn’t been dreaming it all those times when his look had told her his feelings.

Fumbling around behind her, Nika found the door handle and pushed it down. Her mouth never left his as she opened the door, their lips fused and tongues playing sensually. She backed into the
room,
bringing him with her. His hands claimed her waist in a sure grip that was so familiar that she moaned.

A new urge and desire burned through her.

She pulled away from him, her eyes locking on his and searching them. His pupils were wide with arousal and hunger, swallowing the blue of his irises. She licked her lips and his gaze fell there a moment and then came back to hers. His lips parted.

She could sense his hunger. It was as fierce as hers was.

“I’ve waited eternity to feel your kiss again,” she whispered, her gaze dropping to his lips. The door behind him slammed and she heard the soft click of the lock. She swallowed her nerves and gave him a coy smile as she tilted her head to one side, her heart thundering. “Will you kiss me?”

His dark blue irises melted into vivid purple.

He grinned to reveal sharp teeth.

She gasped when he grabbed her waist and pulled her body flush against his. She had missed this, felt as though a
part
of her had been missing all this time, all those nights that she had watched for him.

His gaze shifted to her throat.

She tilted her head back, pushed her fingers through his long black hair, and lured his mouth down to her.

“I have dreamt of nothing else,” Winter whispered against her skin, breath cool and sending a shiver through her.

His fangs sunk into her neck.

Nika gasped and her eyes widened before falling to halfmast. A moan escaped her lips and she clung to him, lost in the waves of a potent mix of exquisite pain and arousal.

She had dreamed of nothing else too.

It had always been this moment that had come to her in sleep each day and her thoughts each night.

Nothing in the world made her feel more loved or more alive. Nothing was more intimate.

Nothing compared to this.

For this, she could have waited for eternity.

Now it was hers forever.

Winter’s kiss.

The End

About the Author:

Felicity Heaton, who writes under both her real name and
F
E Heaton, has been interested in all things preternatural since she was just a child. She used to while away days at school and college dreaming of vampires, werewolves and witches, and used to while away evenings watching movies about them or reading gothic horror stories and romances.

Having tried her hand at various romance genres, it was only natural for her to turn her passion back on the paranormal. She loves to write vampires, werewolves and witches, and makes no excuses for how brutal they can be. She writes them as they are: merciless hunters—seductive, sexy and strong. They’re vicious, dark and dangerous, but, at the same time, they love, they laugh and they feel every emotion as strongly as anyone. She says that this is their world; she’s just honoured to write down their adventures.
