You're My Little Secret 2 (6 page)

“What was that all about?” My mama asked me the minute we were alone. I wish she would have left with David, but he had somewhere else to go.

“What?” I asked like I didn’t already know.

“I’m talking about the hand holding and kissing,” she replied.

“It wasn’t about nothing,” I shrugged nonchalantly.

“You really need to rethink your decision on getting married. You are not ready, and it shows,” my mama said walking behind me. “You know I don’t condone what you’re doing. Brooklyn being pregnant is bad enough, but you need to leave her alone if it’s not about your son.”

“It is about my son,” I replied with a smile as we walked to my truck.

“You sticking your tongue down her throat doesn’t have shit to do with my grandbaby,” she scolded.

“Damn, you acting like you don’t like Brook or something,” I said shaking my head at her.

“Don’t even try to come at me like that. Brooklyn is a sweetheart, and I’ve never had a problem with her. She’s giving me my first grandchild, so she’ll always be welcomed as a part of the family, but my loyalty has to remain with the woman that you’re about to marry. What you’re doing is not right Dominic, and you know it. You were not raised like that, and you better start acting like it.”

“You’re going off on me for nothing. Me and Brooklyn don’t even mess around like that no more,” I lied.

“Stop trying to play me for a fool because I’m far from it. Y’all are doing more than just messing around. It’s not fair for you to keep doing Kennedi wrong. If you don’t want to get married, then let her know. You don’t owe her anything, and nobody can force you to do something that you don’t want to do,” she fussed.

I didn’t even reply because it was a lost cause. I never could win an argument with my mother, and I wasn’t about to try. I was happy, and I wasn’t about to let her ruin my good mood. I got in my truck and placed my sonogram pictures in the glass on my dashboard. The nurse took three pictures, and I had every last one of them. Life couldn’t be better for me right now. I have Brooklyn, and my son will be here in a little over three months. It was sad to say, but the only person who didn’t seem to have a place in my life right now was my soon to be wife.

BROOKLYN

I have three months to go until I drop this load, and I couldn’t wait. Dominic had finally talked me into getting my own place, and I’ll be moving in three weeks. Bryce is happy because I got the apartment right above him and Taylor. I was happy that the place had elevators, or I wouldn’t have even considered moving there at all. I was too young to get on a lease by myself, so Dominic put the apartment in his name and listed me as an occupant. Even if I was old, enough I didn’t have any income to do it on my own anyway. He’s been driving me crazy about looking for furniture, but I just haven’t been in the mood. Between trying to keep my grades up in school and creeping with him, I’m always too tired to do anything else. Dominic feels like he has to see me every day no matter where I am. Sometimes it was just too much work, but he always made a way. Even now, he’s supposed to be at work, but he left just to take me to school. Bryce doesn’t have a problem taking me, but Dominic feels like I’m his responsibility now. It’s crazy how he feels about me even though he’s about to be a married man. My mama is still adamant about me not dealing with him anymore, but that’s easier said than done. I know that Dominic has some kind of feelings for me, but I’m in love with him. It’s so wrong for me to feel this way, but you can’t help who you love.

“Are you listening to me Brooklyn?” Dominic inquired.

“No, what did you say?”

“I asked if you were hungry,” he replied.

“That’s a stupid question. I’m always hungry,” I laughed.

After getting me some take out from The Waffle House, I was on my way to class.

“We need to get to the furniture store this weekend,” Dominic said while he was driving. “You can’t move without furniture.”

“I know. I’ve just been feeling lazy for the past few weeks,” I replied.

“All you have to do is pick out what you want and I’ll take care of everything else. You haven’t even decided what you want to do with my baby’s room yet.”

“Our baby’s room,” I corrected him. He was always saying his baby like I wasn’t the mother.

“You know what I meant,” he laughed as he pulled up to my school. His smile was replaced with a deep frown soon after.

“Please don’t start Dominic,” I begged when I saw Kevin up in the front courtyard waiting for me. Kevin and I had just recently started talking again, and I was trying to keep the peace. He was hurt when he found out I was pregnant, and that put a strain on our friendship. I was happy that we were back on track, but Dominic wasn’t. No matter what I said, he was convinced that Kevin wanted to be more than just my friend.

“I’m not about to start nothing, but you’re not getting out of this truck until it’s time for you to go to class,” he replied.

I sighed, “Go back to work Dominic. I’m going to talk to my friend.” He hopped out of the truck and walked around to my side and opened the door. Usually he would let me out and keep it moving, but today he decided to walk with me to the sitting area.

“Call me when you’re ready Brook,” Dominic said once I sat down. He leaned over and gave me a kiss that lingered on longer than it should have. He walked back to his truck and pulled off, completely ignoring Kevin.

“Damn Brooklyn, that nigga acting like he’s your man or something,” Kevin grumbled with a frown.

“Don’t you start with your shit either,” I snapped. I was tired of both Kevin and Dominic always saying something about each other to me.

“I’m just saying. He’s acting like he’s not about to be married to somebody else.”

“Don’t worry about Dominic, worry about your crazy ass girlfriend that’s on her way over here,” I laughed.

“Awe shit,” Kevin mumbled when he looked up and saw Shannon coming our way. As usual, she had a mean mug on her face as she approached us. Shannon has a cute face, but her ways make her seem very ugly. She has a nasty attitude and is always loud and common. I don’t know what the hell Kevin did to her, but she loves him more than life itself. She lives with Kevin and Kyle in some apartments not too far from our school. Kevin doesn’t work, but he has a nice Tahoe and is always dressed to impress. I don’t have any proof, but I have a feeling that Shannon is the supplier of everything that he has. Maybe that’s the reason why he never left her crazy ass alone. He couldn’t stand the sight of her sometimes, so there had to be a reason that he was staying in the relationship.

“I know damn well you saw me calling your phone Kevin,” she yelled causing a few people to stop and look our way.

“Why the fuck do you keep coming back here Shannon? You might as well enroll since you’re always on campus anyway,” he roared.

“Don’t play with me Kevin. You can try to show off for this bitch if you want to. I’ll fuck both of y’all up, and you know I will,” she yelled.

“Keep me out of y’all’s bullshit and my name is Brooklyn, not bitch,” I replied angrily. I stood to my feet when I saw her walking closer to me. I wasn’t about to sit down and let her swing on me. Pregnant or not, I never backed down from a fight, and I wasn’t starting today.

“I wish you would put your fucking hands on her while she’s pregnant,” Kevin bellowed. He got up and stood in between us, but he was staring at his girlfriend the entire time.

“Nigga you acting like she’s having your baby or something. Let me find out that you and this hoe are playing with me. I’m slicing both of you bitches up,” she yelled. As soon as the words left her mouth, Kevin had his hands wrapped around her neck choking her. I jumped out of the way because she was swinging wildly, and I didn’t want to get hit. A few people ran up to see what was going on, but nobody tried to break them up. I was in shock because Kevin has never been the violent type. He actually had Shannon lifted off of her feet. After a while, she stopped swinging, and her eyes started to water.

“Kevin that’s enough, let her go,” I begged him. He seemed to have zoned out because he completely ignored me. By now, Shannon’s face was beet red, and it looked like she was losing consciousness.

“Somebody help her! Kevin let her go!” I screamed as loud as I could. I was so happy when two guys ran over and pulled Kevin off of her. She dropped to the ground, desperately trying to inhale some air into her lungs.

“Are you alright?” I asked as I made my way over to her. She’d just called me a bitch a minute ago, but I was genuinely concerned for her. Kevin definitely is not behaving like himself right now.

“Get the fuck away from me!” Shannon snapped standing to her feet. I raised my hands in surrender and did just as she asked me to. I had just tried to stop her man from killing her stupid ass, and she was still being a bitch.

“I’m not going to class today. I’ll talk to you later Brook,” Kevin said as he walked towards me.

“Okay,” I muttered still in shock about what just happened.

“Let’s go Shannon,” he yelled to his girlfriend.

I stood there with my mouth hanging open in awe as she grabbed his hand and walked away with him like he didn’t just choke her out. I grabbed my book bag and made my way to my first class. I couldn’t wait to call Tiana and tell her about what just happened.

****

Three weeks later, I was moved into my new apartment. It wasn’t fully furnished yet, but I had everything I needed for the moment. Both of the bathrooms, the living room, and my bedroom were complete, but I wasn’t nearly done. I still had to fix up my baby’s room and get another bedroom set for the spare bedroom. Finding a dinette set for the dining room wouldn’t be hard, so I wasn’t worried about that. I had Taylor, Tiana, Candace, and Co-Co to help me decorate. I wanted my mama to be here, but she wasn’t feeling the move to begin with. She was still on me about leaving Dominic alone, and his mama was on him about letting me go too. They were excited about the baby, but they weren’t too thrilled about us still being together. Dominic’s mother never treated me bad, and I understood why she felt the way she did. She always called to check on me, but it was strictly about her grandchild and nothing more. I turned seven months today, and they were preparing for my baby shower next month. I asked them not to surprise me because I wanted to make sure I looked cute for my big day. Dominic had been going crazy buying stuff, and I probably wouldn’t even need a baby shower if he kept it up. He told me that he found some furniture for the nursery, but I refused to let him buy it until I saw it first. Aside from that, the only thing I needed to do was buy food for my apartment, and I was good to go.

“Look baby,” Dominic said showing me something on my iPad. He and Candace had just finished hanging the curtains. She was sprawled out on the sofa while Co-Co and Tiana were cleaning up the mess in the living room. Taylor went to check her mailbox, but she was coming right back.

“What is that?” I asked taking the tablet out of his hands.

“That’s the furniture for the baby’s room I was telling you about.”

“Ooh, I like it,” I cooed as I looked at the powder blue and gold trimmed furniture. I’ve never seen baby’s furniture so beautiful before. It was even better because it turned into a full sized bed for him to sleep in once he got a little older.

“I’m glad you like it because I ordered it already,” he said smiling.

“Let me see it,” Co-Co said snatching the iPad from my hands when he walked into the kitchen. “Oh yes Dominic, this is hot.”

“We just need to find a theme for the room, and it’s all good from there,” he replied.

“Y’all need some food up in here, I’m hungry,” Tiana complained.

“Order something and I’ll pay for it,” Dominic said while pulling me to the back of the house.

“That’s why your ass is pregnant now,” Co-Co yelled as we disappeared into the bathroom.

As soon as the door closed, Dominic pounced on me. He lifted my dress and snatched my underwear off with so much force. I almost fell to the floor. We were in the bathroom in the hall even though I have a bathroom in my bedroom.

“Wait a minute Dominic, you acting like you never had it before.”

“I’m sorry baby. I was trying to wait for them to leave, but they’re taking too long,” he said while he stripped out of his clothes. I raised my arms while he pulled my dress over my head. Once we were both naked, Dominic lifted me up and sat me on top of the vanity. He rubbed and kissed my stomach before he went down further and slipped his warm tongue into my opening. I grabbed the back of his head and prepared for the ride that I knew he was about to take me on. Since I’ve been pregnant, I can’t remember one day that we went without having sex. I felt my eyes rolling in the back of my head as Dominic wrapped my legs around his neck and went in for the kill. Just as I was really getting into it, the bathroom door flung open.

“Oh shit! I’m so sorry y’all,” Taylor said as she hurried out of the bathroom.

“Damn it Dominic! You never lock the door,” I yelled as I tried to push him away. “My whole damn family has seen you naked.”

“My fault, I thought it was locked,” he said getting up to lock the door. He didn’t even seem fazed by Taylor seeing him giving me oral sex. Once the door was locked, he pulled me to the edge of the vanity and picked up right where he left off.
