“At some point you must have left the club
for a closer look, and I went out looking for you.” Jake placed a
gentle kiss on her neck. “You’d fallen in and hit your head on the
concrete before I found you.”

Her memory pulled up a few more details of
struggling underwater before being yanked to the surface.

“That explains why my pillow smells like
chlorine and I have a goose egg on the side of my head. You must
have rescued me just in time.” Peering over her shoulder, she gave
him a contented lover’s smile.

His brows drew together. “I was hoping you’d
remember everything that happened by now.” He stroked her cheek
with his knuckles, before taking her hand placing her palm just
above her left breast. She frowned pressing her hand harder,
searching, before her fingertips went to the side of her neck. Her
eyes widened, realization struck her like a bulldozer.

He stroked her hair. “Samantha, there’s
something I should to tell you.”
