“P-perhaps we could just call it even?” she suggested in a flirty voice as her heart started to pound like a drum in her chest.
“ ‘Even’ works for me,” he rasped as he lowered his head even closer to hers. “But there’s something I’ve got to ask you.”
“What?” she said as his hands tightened around her waist and she felt her knees start to buckle.
“Do you think we could stop talking now so I could kiss you? I’ve heard that it’s how all the very best TV shows end.”
A smile tugged at her lips, and Mia felt the most glorious rush of joy go racing through her body, but before she could even answer, Chase’s mouth came crashing down on hers. She shivered in delight at the feel of his lips on hers, and in turn he deepened the kiss. His cheek rubbed against hers as she melted into his chest and snaked her arms around him, because the feel of Chase so close to her made her feel . . . like a queen.
