This is ‘Bertie’ from the ‘RAF’ album of photos. After the war he moved to southern Africa, possibly Rhodesia, where his son Andrew was probably born. Bertie was captured at an airfield in France in 1939 and spent almost the whole war in POW camps. He was in the well known ‘Stalag Luft 3’, which was the one that the film The Great Escape was based on.

He had an address in South Africa when his father died in 1971. By the time his mother died in 1975 he was living in Chesham, Bucks. Andrew possibly worked in Oxford as an advertising copywriter.
