It infuriated him. It frightened him. “Will you leave me?” he asked. “Will you go back to your own world and time?” He was desperate to hear her say no but knew that it would be best if she said yes. He could barely say the words but he forced them out. “I want only what’s best for you.”

“I know.”

Then she kissed him. He had his answer in the fiery, demanding touch of her lips, in the way her tongue ravaged his mouth, the way their bodies fit so rightly together.

When she took her lips from his, she said, “I’m not going anywhere. My heart’s in the Highlands. My heart’s with you. We’ll make our own kind of magic, Rowan Murray. And we’ll live happily ever after. Besides,” she added with a breathless laugh.

“You can’t start the Industrial Revolution without me.”
