A smile occupied my mind by reading his text.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by the phone ringing. It was Melissa.
“Hey, Melissa, what’s up?” I could feel my mood was lightened, and so was my tone, exciting and enthusiastic.
“Open the newspaper, page three. Big news is there for you. Thank God I warned you already.”
“Why, what happened?” My heart beat rose. The only thing she’d warned me was about Eyan.
I quickly grabbed the newspaper and opened it to the third page.
There was a big headline.
‘Childhood Sweethearts, Eyan Swan and Nita Phillips, getting engaged next week.’
And below that, there was a picture of Eyan and Nita together, smiling at the photographer.
