Alpha Male Incorporated Under Your Protection (9 page)

Jax moved out of Sahara’s way. He didn’t want to make her any more nervous of him than he had already made her. Sahara took one last lingering look at him before she eased past his body and out into the hallway away from him. He wanted to go after her but he knew that he couldn’t because he had to finish up the security detail with Zander outside.

He would have time later to explore his growing feelings about Sahara, but one thing was for sure. If Sahara was meant for him he wouldn’t let her slip through his fingers. He wasn’t the type of man or vampire to let what was his go to another man.

Chapter Thirteen

Why in the hell does that bitch get to live her life after she’s destroyed so many other people’s lives with her lies?
Eyes scanned over the piles of magazines containing multiple stupid articles about Sahara “Coco” Chantel.
It’s just plain ridiculous the way the public is beginning to fall all over this little nobody, but things are going to change very soon once I have my way.

Snatching a pair of scissors off the table, long thin fingers held them in a death grip as they cut out the small article and picture of Sahara and tossed it on the growing pile near the edge of the table.

It isn’t fair that she’s getting all this fame and glory while my loved one isn’t allowed to achieve everything like her. Why can’t the world see her like I do? Are they all really looking through rose-colored glasses? Or are all of them being lured in by a pretty face and okay singing voice? Well, I know the truth and soon everyone else will too. I’ll make sure of it.

Oh, Sahara was going to get hers and it would be so good to see the stunned look on her face when it happened. Time wasn’t important because no matter if it took seconds, minutes or hours. Sahara Chantel was going to die a slow and painful death.

The person reached over and grabbed another magazine flipping open to the already pre-marked page with an eight by ten photo promoting Coco’s new song called ‘Vanished.’ It was quickly cut out and place over to the side by itself.

This is the one. It will be perfect to send with the message.

Well, pretty soon in the very near future she was going to vanish and no one was going to be able to find her; she didn’t deserve to live not after what she had done.

All that mattered was it had to be done, and done correctly. The only problem might be getting close enough to land the blow that would be needed to end it all. Sahara was already overly protected by her Uncle Frank.

How could people look into her face and not see what a lying slut Sahara was? She was worse than a wolf in sheep’s clothing. She had turned so many lives into a living nightmare and she was going to pay dearly for the day she came into their lives.

Snatching up the scissors, the stalker grinned and stabbed them through the larger picture of Sahara. Oh, the rush was exhilarating, but the pleasure would be ten times better when finally coming face to face with Sahara and putting an end to her miserable life.

Chapter Fourteen

“I’m here to see Sahara. Can you please move out of my way? You’re going to make me late and we need the entire three hours to practice.” Tomas went to push past Jax, his thoughts on his client.
I can’t wait until I get my hands on Sahara’s hot little body. She’s too fine!

Crossing his arms across his chest, Jax narrowed his eyes at the man standing in the open doorway with a gym bag on his shoulder.
Why does this idiot think that he’s getting anywhere near my Sahara?

Yes, he could smell the scent of another woman on this guy’s body, but after reading this jerk’s thoughts, Jax knew his interest in Sahara went deeper than teaching Sahara a new dance routine.

“Who are you?” Jax demanded despite knowing the answer. Sahara told him less than thirty minutes ago that her dance instructor Tomas was coming over to help her. How Frank was fooled into hiring this asshole he would never know.

“I didn’t know Frank had hired any new workers,” Tomas said, his words tinged with a faint European accent. “I’m here to see Sahara. I’ve already told you this, so why aren’t you allowing me inside the house?”

Jax was getting fed up with this man. If he didn’t leave soon, he would give him a not so friendly helping hand.

“You still aren’t answering my question.” Jax pushed his sunglasses up on the top of his head making sure to look the guy directly in the eye.

“Look, I’m Tomas, Sahara’s dance instructor. Why are you making such a big deal out of this? Just step to the side and let me do my job. Sahara knows I’m coming because I called her to let her know I was on my way.”

Unfolding his arms, Jax moved closer until only a few inches separated them. He wasn’t about to allow this bastard to disrespect him like this.

“I’m not going to do a fucking thing you want. I’m Sahara’s bodyguard and when I tell you to leave that is what your ass will do. Am I making myself clear?”

Sahara’s dance coach eyed him like he was thinking about arguing with him, but took a step back from him instead.

“Look man, I’m not going to get into an argument with you. Can’t you go and tell Sahara to come downstairs? She needs this last practice before her appearance. Are you going to tell me you’re willing to mess with her career? If you know anything at all about Sahara, you know how much this upcoming show means to her. Are you really going to be the one who makes it not happen?”

The idea of not moving crossed Jax’s mind, but then he remembered how Sahara’s eyes would light up anytime she mentioned her singing career. Sahara loved being in the limelight and he would do everything in his power to make sure he caught the person sending her the letters before this psycho ended up hurting Sahara.

He didn’t want her worrying about her future. He wouldn’t let this guy’s unhealthy fixation on Sahara ruin her dream.

“Fine, you can come in but I’m coming to watch your practice with Sahara. I’m going to make sure that it doesn’t get out of hand,” Jax warned.

Stepping back, Jax waved Tomas into the house knowing he wasn’t going to like what was about to go on. Tomas would have to touch Sahara and he wasn’t pleased about another man touching his woman.

Finally...I thought that big steroid Frank hired wasn’t ever going to move,”
Tomas thought, pushing past the big man, not knowing Jax could hear every word loud and clear.

Growling in the very back of his throat, Jax stepped towards Tomas and was reaching for the back of the dance instructor’s shirt so he could toss the asshole back outside when the sound of Sahara’s feet running down the stairs made him drop his hand away.

Shit! Why did Sahara have to show up at this very second
? Jax thought. He was about to give this cocky SOB everything he deserved and so much more, but he couldn’t now.

“Tomas, I thought I heard your voice,” Sahara said, grinning ear to ear as she rushed into the room. She gave Tomas a huge hug, and then stepped back ignoring Jax totally.

Jax shoved down his inclination to snap Tomas in half for having his hands on Sahara. He would just wait because he knew this guy was going to get kicked out of Frank’s house before the day was over.

“I would have been in here sooner, but your attack dog here wouldn’t let me in,” Tomas complained, casting him an evil look.

“Jax is like that, so just ignore him the best that you can,” Sahara replied. “He takes his bodyguard job very seriously. Now, how about we head downstairs so I can practice? I have a question about changing a move. I think it will fit the image of Coco better.”

Turning away from him, Sahara and Tomas made their way towards the basement but he wasn’t far behind them. He might have to end up protecting Sahara from Tomas as much or more than from her stalker. He hated the sleazy dance instructor and he wasn’t about to keep his opinion to himself.

Chapter Fifteen

“I didn’t think you would be coming by today. I thought you were still visiting your parents,” Zander said, watching as the petite, sexy African American woman cleaned out the desk placing stuff into a banker’s box on the swivel chair.

“I got back late last night. I couldn’t put off doing this any longer. My brother isn’t coming back,” Sabrina Watley told him without stopping what she was doing.

Coming further into the office, Zander closed the office door behind him. Sabrina had been in his thoughts since her brother’s fatal race car crash two months ago. He’d warned Avery about taking up car racing as a hobby, but his best friend hadn’t listened to him. Then unfortunately his car exploded on impact when it hit a cement divider at the racing track, and Avery was dead.

“I would have done this for you. All you had to do was give me a call. You know how much I care about you and your family.”

Honestly, he was totally in love with Sabrina and had been for the past two years, but she never acted like she saw him as anything more than her brother’s best friend and business partner. Unlike Jax who didn’t want to believe Sahara was his mate, he knew Sabrina was his mate because being in the same room with her drove him out of his mind with longing and need.

Anytime he was around her all he could think about was sinking his teeth into her smooth, creamy caramel skin making her his forever, but she wasn’t ready for that step just yet. However, it had to be soon or he was going to lose his sanity or life whichever came first.

“I know you would have Zander. I think that’s one of the reasons Avery loved you so much as his friend and business partner. You were like the light to his darkness. Avery was constantly on the move looking for a new thrill, living on the edge. But you have this calmness about you which seemed to work well with my brother,” Sabrina whispered as tears filled her eyes.

Moving closer to Sabrina, Zander took the paperweight out of her hand placing it back next to the rolodex on the desk. He tugged Sabrina against his chest breathing in the sweet floral scent of her hair.

“Sabrina, I’m so sorry about Avery,” he whispered against Sabrina’s temple. “I miss his crazy, fun-loving ass too.”

Sabrina snuggled closer wrapping her arms around his waist. The feel of her breasts brushing against his chest made his cock twitch and harden inside of his jeans. Shit! Now wasn’t the time for him to get a hardon with Sabrina, she needed his comfort not his body.

“I still can’t believe he’s gone. I miss him so much. What am I going to do without my big brother?” she cried as her tears dampened the front of his t-shirt, but he didn’t care. He loved being this close to Sabrina way too much.

“Oh, sweetheart,” Zander whispered before he picked Sabrina up in his arms carrying her over to the couch near the office door.

Sitting down, he held Sabrina’s soft body against him as he listened to her cry. It was tearing his heart out that he couldn’t take her pain away right now. Zander wanted to tell Sabrina that she was destined to be with him for the rest of her life and she wouldn’t be alone. But for now, he would keep his mouth shut and only hold her, because later on he was going to promise her forever as his mate.

Chapter Sixteen

The words from Sahara’s song
Vanished
played around them as Jax watched Tomas place his hands on Sahara’s hips showing her the right way to move them to the beat. He had been quiet about all of the unnecessary touching for the past two and a half hours, but it was enough now. Tomas was getting off touching Sahara and it was going to stop. Right now!

“Do you have to touch her like that?” Jax snapped, his voice ringing out above the music.

Sahara and Tomas both stopped in mid-step and stared at him. He was done with all of this. Sahara’s dance lesson was over whether she knew it or not.

“Jax, I can’t get anything done with you standing guard like that. Can’t you go and do something else. I’m not in any danger from Tomas. I’ve known him for a while.”

“No, I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying here until you finish with Tomas.” He wasn’t fooled. He knew Tomas wanted him gone so he could make a move on Sahara and that wasn’t going to happen. He already allowed Tomas to touch his mate longer than necessary because she wanted the dance lesson, but they were over as of right now.

“I can’t work like this,” Tomas complained moving away from Sahara. “I get paid a lot of money from people who want my help. I’m sorry Sahara. Until this guy is gone, I won’t be able to help you any longer.”

Jax couldn’t keep the smile off his face. He was beyond pleased. Tomas and his hands were about to leave which was a very good thing in his humble opinion. Because if Tomas’ wandering fingers moved any closer to Sahara’s breasts, he would make damn sure that he lost them very painfully.

“No, don’t go,” Sahara begged. “I need your help. I don’t have these moves down yet.”

Tomas moved away from Sahara and grabbed his bag off the floor. “Sorry, I’m not going to work under these conditions. My time is too valuable to have someone standing over my shoulder. I have a waiting list of clients dying to have me teach them.”

“I agree it’s time for you to go.” Jax moved away from the wall over to the door. He opened it, a huge grin on his face. “You have the right idea about finding another client. I’m sure Sahara won’t require your attention anymore after today.”

Tomas stormed toward him, but stopped a few inches away. “You need to get yourself in check or your piss ass attitude is going to ruin Sahara’s career before it even gets off the ground.” The words were spat at him and then Tomas stormed out the door.

Good riddance
.

Jax slammed the door shut already pushing Tomas out of his mind. Tomas was wrong. Sahara didn’t need him teaching her anything else. She could find another more qualified person to be her dance teacher.

He would have a talk with Frank about it. He understood Sahara’s support team was important to her growing career, but Tomas wasn’t a good fit.
