Goldie slept like a baby. Adrenalin still pumped through his brain. Duncan lay staring at the ceiling, taking stock of his life. Most importantly, he would always remain by this woman’s side. Someone would have to shoot him to change that. His innocence must be publicly acknowledged by the court that sentenced him, and the state must be made to pay recompense for five years of his life. Before, he didn’t care—now with a family, he did. The problems from beating Marty would be a mess to clear, but for the first time, he had the support of family and a sweet woman.
