“You heard me. Let’s get the hell out of here.” His voice
held so much danger and promise, everything that spoke directly to her core.
She tried to pull herself free from his grip, but he was
holding her too tightly; honestly she didn’t want to be free.
Adrenaline was coursing through her body, and she could feel
her cheeks flush as Stone gazed down at her.
“Well?” he growled.
“We have class,” she argued feebly.
“Fuck class.” He released her and stalked away, making it
clear that he was leaving with or without her.
Shit.
She knew she needed to let him go and head straight inside.
She couldn’t afford to miss a class; school did not come easy to her and she
needed to be present to understand.
But she couldn’t just let him walk away.
She was reckless through and through.
“Stone!” she cried out, “Wait.”
He turned around, his eyes dark and brooding.
What the hell was she doing? She barely knew him!
She glanced quickly back at the classroom door, as if the
teacher were going to come out and scold her.
But this was college, she reminded herself. The teachers
didn’t care. If she chose not to show, it was no skin off the teacher’s back.
She looked back to Stone, who looked impatient, and then
hurried up to him.
He gave her a small smile, one that told her he had a softer
side hidden within. He took her small hand in his large one and they hurried
down the hall together.
She wanted to dissect what she was actually doing, but she
couldn’t think straight because she was too busy focusing on how her hand felt
in his. His hand was rough and warm—so warm!
And something about the gesture was both protective and possessive.
Stone led the way, practically pulling Lucy with him, and
her boots clicked across the linoleum floor.
“Nice boots,” he smirked as they burst through the front
doors.
“Shut up,” she couldn’t help snapping, feeling embarrassed
that she had dressed up for him.
They walked swiftly through the parking lot, past Lucy’s sad
little car and straight to Stone’s truck.
He released her hand and yanked the door open. “Get in,” he
ordered, slamming the door shut behind her and walking swiftly to the driver’s side.
He climbed in, keeping his eyes focused straight ahead,
started the car and pulled out of the parking lot.
Lucy wanted to say something, but she didn’t know what to
say, and honestly she was too afraid to speak up.
Clearly, Stone was preoccupied with something. She could
practically see his brain churning.
“Why did you come with me?” he asked in a low voice, his
eyes still on the road.
Had she heard correctly?
“Umm, I’m not really sure.”
“Why?” he demanded. The urgency in his voice was making her
feel panicky.
“I don’t know,” she said quickly, “I’m pretty impulsive.”
She bit her lower lip. “I’m second guessing myself,” she added.
Stone nodded, as if taking everything in.
They turned off the highway and Lucy had no idea where they
were. Stone made another quick turn and they were on a dead end dirt path that
butted against the woods.
Holy hell.
Her mind raced; what had she been thinking?
For all she knew, he could be an ax murderer!
Stone threw the car into park, turned it off, and looked at
her.
His eyes burned with such intensity that she couldn’t look
away—one eye as warm as fire, the other as cool as ice.
“What?” she whispered, knowing there was something else he
needed to say, some other reason that they were here.
But she wasn’t going to get any answers from Stone.
At least not now.
In one swift movement, he leaned across the front cab of the
truck, pulling her body to him and crushing his mouth to hers.
Shocked, she remained frozen as he kissed her, his hands
twisting into her loose hair, the heat of his body encircling her in a warm
cocoon.
And then she snapped out of it.
She kissed him back, pulling even closer to him, her hands
fumbling at the back of his neck as she pulled herself against him.
He was so much bigger than her, and she loved how small she
felt in his arms. Her lips worked frantically with his, and she gasped with
pleasure when his tongue slid into her mouth.
She asked no questions, she thought of no reasons or
regrets, just simply kissed him, giving into her own desire.
Stone was seriously fucked up.
What the hell was he doing?
Here he was, on the side of the road, making out with Lucy,
who he was not supposed to be
actually
falling for. But she was so damn
sexy that he couldn’t help the fact that he wanted to be near her.
Okay, he wanted to fuck her, too. Let’s be honest.
And here she was, breathing heavily as she pushed her tongue
back into his mouth and knotted her hands in his hair. He could smell her
arousal, smell the wetness of her pussy as his cock throbbed in his pants.
Lucy let out a little moan of pleasure when his hard dick
rubbed against her, and Stone thought he might blow his load right then and
there.
Lucy pressed up against him, her firm tits rubbing against
his chest, and Stone had to bite back a growl that wanted to rip through his
chest.
If it was possible, he thought his bear wanted to fuck Lucy
even more than he did.
He had to concentrate hard on keeping his bear contained,
but he could feel the liquid-like ripple just under the surface; the beast
within him wanting out and wanting a piece of Lucy.
Stone knew that Lucy had noticed the darkening of his eyes
today while he was arguing on the phone with Evan. Whenever his bear was near
the surface, his eyes darkened considerably, and it was always extremely
noticeable with his blue eye. Hopefully Lucy would just chalk it up to some
strange occurrence. Stone could only assume that Lucy was unaware of her
sister’s fraternization with werebears.
Or even that Lucy had no idea werebears even existed.
Stone couldn’t think any more about Lucy’s possible
knowledge of werebears because Lucy was crawling into his lap, her hands
running against his erection.
He groaned, pulling at her hair, inhaling her scent.
She smelled wild and sweet at the same time.
That smell, mixed with her arousal, was so enticing to Stone
that he was about to lose his mind.
And then, to make matters worse, or possibly better, Lucy
began to work his zipper.
Stone wanted to protest, but he didn’t.
He would have to be an idiot to turn down whatever Lucy was
about to offer.
She looked up at him, a small smile playing on her lips, and
her eyelids were heavy with desire. She dragged the zipper down and tugged at
his pants.
Stone lifted up so that Lucy could tug his pants down, and
then she also pulled down his boxers, revealing his cock.
Stone groaned as Lucy took him into her palm, softly
stroking him.
He leaned back against the seat, closing his eyes. This was
going way better than he had expected.
He wasn’t sure what he had thought would happen when he
asked Lucy to come with him this morning. He had been so angry after talking to
Evan and then Lucy had been right there in front of him, and she had looked so
damn sexy…
He refused to think about Evan now.
Axel, the former alpha, had been Evan’s half-brother, and
Evan, like his half-brother, had a knack for cruelty. Evan also thought that he
should have been made the new alpha, and he was sticking his fucking nose in
business where it didn’t belong. He had caught wind that Jeremy was trying to
bring Lucy into the tribe, with which Evan agreed, but he believed that Lucy
should be brought in by force.
Stone wasn’t any one’s lapdog to be ordered around, and the
only reason he was doing this for Jeremy was because Jeremy had saved his hide.
And he couldn’t quite complain about the task Jeremy had given him.
Lucy was stroking him now, her hands sliding up and down his
shaft, gripping him in a way that made him want to sink his teeth into her. His
bear was roaring loudly, but he refused to let it out.
Lucy’s hands moved faster, her grip tightening, and Stone’s
breath hitched in his throat. He had a feeling that he was going to be
embarrassed by coming too soon, but he couldn’t help himself.
And then, to his utter amazement and delight, Lucy lowered
her mouth to him.
“Fuck,” Stone hissed through clenched teeth. Lucy gave him a
wicked grin, taking him deep into her mouth and pushing him far into her
throat. Squeezing his eyes shut once again, he grabbed her hair, restraining
himself from yanking her head up and down his length.
Lucy licked him slowly, going back and forth between sucking
and licking and then deep throating, a lethal combination that was making Stone
go crazy.
“Lucy,” he gasped, “I’m not going to be able to-
’’
“It’s alright,” she soothed.
That was all Stone needed to hear.
He exploded, feeling himself throb and then burst within
Lucy’s mouth.
“Argh,” he half-cried, half-growled, and he felt himself
pulse as he emptied into Lucy.
She continued to suck, swallowing again and again as Stone
shot his hot liquid into her mouth.
When he was empty, she pulled away, looking somewhat
shell-shocked.
“I’m sorry,” she said quietly, “I’m not sure what came over
me.”
Fuck. She was already regretting it.
“Don’t be sorry,” he said slowly. He fumbled to put
his dick back into his pants.
“Why did you invite me with you today?” she asked suddenly,
smoothing down her hair, looking awkward and uncomfortable now.
Things couldn’t end like this; Lucy had done a complete turnaround
in a matter of seconds.
“Hey,” he said, pulling her to him. She let him wrap his
arms around her easily. “I was certainly not expecting that when I asked you to
cut class with me. I was just in a bad place; I was angry from a phone call and
I couldn’t picture myself sitting in a stuffy class, pretending that I was
okay. And then you showed up, looking so damn gorgeous, and I don’t know,” he
explained, “it was just a spur of the moment thing.”
Lucy relaxed a bit in his arms, and he could hear her heart
rate begin to slow. That was a good sign; she was calming down.
“What was your phone call about?” Her heart rate picked up
again; she must have been nervous to ask.
Stone inhaled, and the scent of her was so delicious that he
had to focus his mind to stay on task.
“It was just someone that I know, but don’t like. I don’t
really want to get into it. It would bore you.”
His thoughts turned dark when he thought of Evan. Stone had
known Evan since childhood, and even then he hadn’t cared for him. Evan had been
a bully, much like Axel, but Axel at least had left Stone alone. For some
reason Evan had delighted in picking on Stone. It wasn’t until Stone had
shifted, and bit a huge chunk out of Evan’s leg, that Evan had finally left him
alone.
Though Stone figured Evan probably still held it against
him.
There was so much violence and bullshit within the Cruentus
tribe that Stone couldn’t help wondering what his life would be like elsewhere.
But werebears were indigenous to this area, and he didn’t know what he might
find elsewhere. So he hung around, dealing with the assholes within his clan.
Luckily, Lucy didn’t press him anymore.
“I have a shift soon,” she said quietly, “I’m going to need
to get back to my car.”
Stone realized that they had been gone from campus for
nearly an hour and a half. He nodded and Lucy scooted over and buckled herself
up. She was quieter now, and Stone wondered how much she regretted going down
on him.
He didn’t have time to worry about it.
“Do you live near the diner?” he asked, though he knew
exactly where she lived.
“Not exactly. But I’m not far. I live with my mother.” She
bit her lip as if she didn’t want to share that information.
Or perhaps she wanted to share more.
“That’s nice.”
“Not really,” she said flatly, staring out the window.
Stone chuckled. “Does your mother still have house rules?”
Stone lived on his own now; clan members moved out of their family homes when
they turned twenty-one. He remembered how his parents had tried to enforce
rules when he turned eighteen; he had practically laughed in their faces. Stone
had never been a rule follower, and he was surely not going to be following
their rules once he had turned eighteen.
“I’ve never had rules,” Lucy scoffed.
There was much more to what Lucy was saying; he was
intrigued.
“No rules,” he mused, “that doesn’t sound too bad.”
“Yeah, well, my mom’s a drunk.” She didn’t say it rudely,
but it was clear that she didn’t want to talk about it.
Stone nodded and they drove for a few minutes in silence.
“Sorry,” she finally said, “I guess I didn’t need to share
that with you.”
“It’s fine, really.”
“So, now what? We just go back to sitting next to each other
in class?” she half-joked.
“I think we know each other a little better than that now,”
he said, his voice turning husky. He turned to look at Lucy, and she quickly
masked the vulnerability on her face. “What time is your shift today?” Stone
said, though he knew the answer. “Maybe I’ll stop by for a bite to eat.”
He suddenly envisioned Evan waiting for him when he got
home. It would be just like Evan to show up on his doorstep and demand that
Stone do things
his
way.
“My shift starts at twelve-thirty.” She didn’t say any more,
just watched as Stone turned his truck into the campus parking lot and slowly
crawled along until he found Lucy’s piece-of-junk car.
Lucy looked at Stone for a long moment, and Stone could hear
her heart rate increase. She then reached down to grab her tattered bag and
moved to leave the truck. Stone quickly reached out for her hand, and held it
tightly.
