The thane glared around the table, as if daring anyone else to say anything. “Aye, thralls don’t own slaves, but it seems this one does.” Wulfgar turned cold eyes onto Aron, who was still watching him warily. “A treasure for a treasure, eh boy?”
Aron swallowed against a suddenly dry throat. He’d only ever seen Wulfgar in this kind of a mood once before, and neither he nor Roman had fared well because of it. He tugged Roman behind him to shield him from the thane’s fury and wisely held his tongue, not wanting to bait Wulfgar further and thanking the gods that the thane had a deep sense of honor.
“Both of you get out of my sight,” Wulfgar growled. “And Aron, I expect you to be in my bed waiting to entertain me when I choose to retire.”
