Chapter One

“Push,
Travis
.”
Lorna
’s voice rasped
as her
grip
tightened.

Their ragged breathing echoed in the
small room.
Travis
loved the sound of her panting. With the body of an athlete,
Lorna
’s
muscles flexed each time she moved.

“Just a little more,
I’m almost there
,” she said through clenched teeth.

Travis
pressed forward,
tensing his body
as
he moved.
He wanted nothing more than to take her over the edge.
He watched as she dropped
her head
back
ward
.
Jet black
hair cascad
ed
down her
shoulders
.
A shimmering gleam of sweat covered her face and neck.
Her
full
l
ips
separated
and she flicked her
t
ongue
out to wet them
.
He pushed again
and
Lorna
moaned softly. His h
eart slammed against his chest. H
eat scorched to his groin.
She was killing him.

“My God, you’re strong,” she
panted
.

“L
et’s get this in position. Lift your end up.”

“I’ve got to turn around.”

“Umm, hum
.”
Thoughts of caressing her smooth ass, while he thrust into her sent his body into overdrive.

“Are you ready?”

“Oh yeah, baby. I
’m always ready for you
.”

Lorna
groaned
and shoved
her palms
against the flat back of the heavy wood
en sarcophagus
with all her might. A screech echoed around them as the
coffin
scraped into place.
“Damn, that
’s heavy.”

Travis
held onto
the
base of the
golden
replica of an ancient king
as it rocked into place.
He
shifted
the weight
,
sliding
it
from
side to side
until it was
position
ed
flat against the wall. When
the sarcophagus
was in the right s
pot he
leaned against it to rest for a minute.

Lorna
stood beside him, panting. His gaze lingered on the soft motion of her heaving chest as she tried to catch her breath. He needed to touch her, to feel her moist skin against his. But he couldn’t. Not yet.
He appraised the
room
to determine what else they needed to do.

It was an empty bedroom converted to
a replica of
an Egyptian tomb
.
A
n ornate chest,
cabinet and
a foldin
g stool
covered one wall
.
A
small offering table
,
traditionally
used to give food to the deceased in the family
,
was in
the
corner and
candle torches
were
positioned along the walls.

Travis
’s favorite piece was the
slanted bed with
footboard and ornately carved legs in th
e shape of a lion’s leg and paw
.
It was wide with wooden slats covered
by
a plush
queen-sized, mattress-like cushion
stuffed with goose down. Linen sheets finished off the authentic
appearance of an
ancient Egyptian bed.
Every time he saw
it he remembered the first time he
’d ma
d
e love to
Lorna
there
. He’d had to get creative and put blocks underneath
the shorter legs
to make
the bed
flat but the footboard
still
got
in the way.
They’d had quite a few laughs about that over the years.

Gazing
at the bed
now
, h
e remembered
how
Lorna
looked that day. T
he creamy silkiness of her large breasts, the
way she
spread
her legs
wide
and the inviting look of desire as she’d pulled him down on top of her. She’d molded
against his body
as if they’d been made to fit together
.
H
is cock
throbbed
as he remembered
the feel of her softness
lying
naked
across
him
.
It was the first time
Lorna
said she
loved him a
nd he hadn’
t
been the same since.

Later
tonight
they’d
light
the torch candles. The flickering glow would cast eerie shadows
to
complete the ghostly look
that no haunted house should be without
. Then
Lorna
would pose in the chair
wearing
that sexy
Cleopatra outfit
.
Just thinking
how
the
little white top with gold banding clung to her firm breasts
and
the way that short
butt flap showed off her
bare hips and
long legs made his cock
grow
harder.

Then he
would step out of the tomb, dressed like a mummy
, without any skin showing, a complete opposite to
Lorna
’s sexiness
, which was a good thing
. I
t
hid
his
constant
erection
as he watched
her
strike
sexy poses
,
dressed like
the Queen of Egypt
. Then she’d
scream and run
at the patrons
to scare
them.

Year after year t
hey played the same role
of ac
tors setting up
the
House of Terror
, Lighthouse Inlet’s most famous haunted house
, held in his family’s second home
. Adult Floridians
from as far North as St. Augustine down to
the Palm Beaches
would drive a couple of hours to experience the
ir sexy haunted house
.
It had been one of his father’s most brilliant ideas
and
brought in a lot of money
during
the two weeks it was open each year.

But that was then.

Now, it didn’t make any money at all.

Tonight, just like every Halloween for the past twenty years, there wouldn’t be any visitors to the haunted house.

It was a prison. A twisted, ugly
monster
that had somehow trapped them within its clutches.

Since that tragic
holiday
two decades ago,
fate and time shifted.
They’d been handed a new destiny, one that was impossible to figure out. Halloween
was the
only
day
he and
Lorna
could
physically
be together
.
Today he
could touch her silky smooth skin, kiss her full lips, and inhale her
intoxicating
fragrance.
H
e could show her ho
w much he loved her
. Then for the next three hundred and sixty four days, h
e
’d
be
alone
in a fog, reliving
th
is
day
together
over
and over
in his mind,
while he waited
for the
next Halloween
to arrive
.

Despair over their
situation
clawed at his heart. If
only he could find a way to
take control
and find a way out of this dilemma. His pulse pounded a
s ideas spun around in his mind
.
Wanting her and not being able to have
her was ripping him apart, leaving him in a void of despair until he saw her again.
If only he could beat fate then they could be together every day.

So far n
one of their ideas to change the situation had ever worked
but he wasn’t going to give up
.
They’d tried going out during the day in their costumes, jumping up and
down
while waving their arms,
in front of people. O
ne year they’d even
gone down to
the park in the center of
downtown Lighthouse Inle
t
and
had sex
under a tree.
That hadn’t worked either. Their
attempts were pointless.
There was only one way that they could be together
a
nd he couldn’t make it happen.

They had to be seen
by a living human being.

It sucked to be ghosts.

Stuck between worlds,
they were
only allowed to physically manifest t
ogether one
day out of the year—Halloween—
the day they’d died.
One year
Lorna
thought they should try to find the gateway to the other side. That
hadn’t worked either. They were just here and
then there. I
n between dimensions with only one day
together
on the Earth plane
.

Who made th
ese
stupid rules anyway?

Rules that were impossible to break.

A Master had delivered them but who made it up? Had he and
Lorna
planned this to learn some kind of life lesson?

He decided that they’d get it right this time so this lesson would never have to be repeated.
He could only hope
this year would be different and they could find a way to break through whatever was holding them back from going into the light.

“T
here’s nothing else to bring in,
right
?”
He
shoved
the thoughts aside to focus on the
one
person he loved more than life itself.
Lorna
. This was the
only time he could physically show her how much he loved her
and worrisome thoughts wouldn’t get in the way of pleasuring her
.
