Chapter 36
Club Business

Devil’s Cut

It’s a windy Wednesday night as everyone in the club walks out of the meeting room. Tonight, it’s members only. Rick’s heart races as he follows everyone down into the basement. Jaime is strong. He didn’t rat on Rick for being involved with what happened with the Kings. But the word is out and the whole club knows. Moments ago they took a vote in the meeting room as to what to do about it. Men have been killed for less, so Rick has many things to be thankful for. One, that Fish pushed to remove his patch until he’s earned it back instead of outing him, or even worse, killing him. Two, that Jaime is brave enough to take the fall alone. And three, that Odin wasn’t here to vote tonight, again thanks to the timing that Fish helped arrange. Odin’s vote was still cast by Micah, that Jaime be thrown out altogether and stripped of all patches. But with Odin here to take a verbal stand against him, it could have been worse.

Rick knows as they all walk into the basement, the horrors that are about to be inflicted on his son. It’s something no father should ever have to see. But this brotherhood is based on trust and keeps its high position with the violence it is willing to inflict on anyone who breaks that trust. Again, though this will be ugly, it could be worse with Odin here. He is the one with the personal vendetta against Jaime. And all over that loud mouth bitch, Delilah.

Rick tries to keep a straight and strong face as his fist is the first blow to strike Jaime. As his son, it’s Rick’s responsibility to have taught him better then to deal drugs with other gangs and to deal fake drugs at that. When Jaime falls to his knees, other members take turns, swinging and kicking. It’s not till he is a bloody mess on the floor that Micah grabs the blow torch. Cole, Nikko, Junior and Felix hold him in place while Micah burns the junior member tattoo off Jaime’s arm.

As Rick’s ears are pierced by the howling screams of his son, he tries to find solace in knowing that he’s exacted revenge on the bitch responsible for this. The bitch who went and told her arrogant fuck boyfriend about Sergio Velasquez. If she’d have kept her damn mouth shut, he could have covered this up and none of this would be happening right now. As far as he was concerned, this was all her fault. The only solace he had now, watching as his son pays the price for her big mouth, was knowing he’d already exacted revenge.
May that bitch live a lifetime of pain!

A sneak peek into book #2 Tangled in a Web of Lies

The phone rings for the tenth time. I can’t bring myself to answer. I can’t face him right now. He wants answers and I can’t give them to him. Losing him is the worst part of all of this. But I can’t tell him the truth. I can’t tell him what happened. I’ve been in this exact fork in the road before and I made the wrong choice. I sent someone I love into fitted rage over me and he’s paying for it with his life. I love Odin. I love him more than anything in this world and I can’t do that to him. The only thing I can do for us now is to put the distance between us, even though it hurts and all I want to do is run to him and throw myself at him and let him hold me instead of crying these tears alone. I have never felt so alone.

My phone is buzzes again. I watch it hum on the top of the night table as I sit huddled in the corner, holding myself. I’m so lost. I have nothing and no one I can turn to. I try hard to be strong and not contemplate the easy way out of this life. I know he’s hurting, I know he’s probably going out of his mind right now, and I’m crying for him, but there simply isn’t anything I can do. My fear had always been that he didn’t love me, but each time my phone rings again, it’s proof he loves enough to fight. Unfortunately, I can’t let him win. I bury my head in my arms and let the tears and the sound of my own screams consume me. This is hell!
