Chasing Rainbows (28 page)

Doug watched her go and wondered if he might get the call. He felt alone and hopeless.

One lonely case was left on the conveyor belt.

As he watched it go round and round he knew now what a big mistake he made all those years ago.

What a fool he was. He never quite got where he wanted to be.

Doug walked out of the airport onto the wet pavement. He felt his tears but they would remain inside. This man did not cry.

The clouds were clearing and the sun coming out after the rain.

As Doug got into the cab that was to take him into the city, he looked up and saw the rainbow.

The cab followed the rainbow into the city.

Doug was still chasing rainbows.
