Chapter 39
“OK, so I bought three tests,” Carmen said as she sat down on the couch.
“OK, I don't want to do this,” Lena said as she paced the floor. She couldn't believe she might be pregnant. She wasn't ready to be a mother.
Misha looked at Lena. “Girl, if you don't go in that bathroom and take that damn test.” She handed Lena the test.
Lena looked at them. “I don't want to take it alone.” She looked at both of them. “You bought three tests.”
Carmen laughed. “Girl, that would be a waste of ten dollars. If I'm pregnant, it would be Immaculate Conception.”
“I don't care. I want y'all to take it with me.”
Misha grabbed a test. “Fine. I'll go first.” She walked into the bathroom as Lena headed into Cooley's bathroom.
The three girls waited for the tests to finish. Carmen smiled. “I'm gonna be an auntie. I just know it.”
Lena frowned. “I don't think I'm ready to be a mother. Just 'cause I decided to go home doesn't mean that we're all right. We have a lot of things to work through.”
Misha looked at both of them. “Lena, you would be a great mother.” Misha thought about Patrick. She knew one day he would make a great father.
Cooley walked into the house. “What's up, y'all?” She looked at Misha and smiled. “Hey, Misha.”
“Hi, Carla.” Misha looked down at the floor. She still couldn't believe she let Cooley have her body again.
Cooley laughed. “You know only my most special girl can call me by my birth name.”
“OK, Cooley.” Misha smiled.
“You can call me Carla.” Cooley winked at her and walked to her room.
Carmen laughed. “When are you going to realize that y'all are meant for each other?”
“What the hell!” Cooley yelled.
The three girls realized all three pregnancy tests were in her bathroom. They got up but Cooley walked into the living room. “Damn, did you have to take them in my bathroom?”
“Sorry, bro, we didn't know you were coming home,” Carmen apologized.
Cooley shook her head. “Well, congrats, Lena.”
Lena's heart dropped, “One was positive.”
Cooley smiled. “Actually, two of the three were positive. I'm guessing buying that majority wins.” She headed back to her room.
The girls stood in their spots, completely shocked by Cooley's statement.
Misha ran into the bathroom. She looked down at the three tests: Lena's and hers were both positive.
Carmen and Lena quickly followed. They both looked at Misha, who was holding her test.
“Misha?” Carmen said as she looked at her friend.
Lena looked at Misha. “Misha, how?”
Misha's heart was pounding. The whole room began to spin. She was pregnant.
Cooley looked back at the girls. Misha looked like she had seen a ghost. Cooley quickly realized what was going on. “Misha, you pregnant?”
Misha began to cry. She didn't know what to say. She turned around and looked at Cooley who was more shocked than the rest of them. “IâI have to go.” Misha ran out of the room before anyone could stop her.
Carmen looked at Cooley. She could see the hurt in her eyes. “Cooley, are you OK?”
Cooley stood there looking at the pregnancy test that Misha dropped. She turned around and ran out of the door as well. Carmen tried to catch her but couldn't. She ran back inside and told Lena that she had to go follow Cooley.

Denise walked into the apartment to find Lena's bags packed by the door. Anger quickly set in as she remembered the chat with Brandon earlier. Lena came out of the back completely dressed.
“You going back to that fool?” Denise yelled.
Denise's anger caught Lena off guard. “Dee, I haveâ”
“So, what the fuck, huh, Lena? You fuck me then go right back to him. I can't believe I let you do this shit again!”
“Dee, you don't.”
“You know what, you can roll. I'm tired of loving someone who doesn't love me back!”
Lena looked at Denise. “You love me?”
Denise looked at Lena. “Lena, are you that clueless? Lena, I have been in love with you since last year. I've been sitting back letting you put this train wreck on my heart, but I can't do it anymore. If you're going back to him, go, but don't bring yo' ass back over here when he fucks up again!” Denise stormed into her room and slammed the door.
Lena was in shock. Denise had never talked to her like that before. She felt her heart breaking as well. She lightly knocked on Denise's door. “Dee, I'm pregnant.”
The door slowly cracked open. Denise walked out with a look of amazement on her face. “What?”
“I'm pregnant. I just found out.” A tear fell from her eye. “Denise, a big piece of me wants to stay here with you, but another piece is telling me to go home to the father of my unborn child.”
Denise put her hand on Lena's stomach. Her heart was breaking. “You're right.”
“Denise, you will never know how much I care about you.”
“Please, Lena, don't say anything else. Just go. Besides, your boy came to talk to me today.”
Lena turned around in shock. “Oh my God. What did he do?”
“Nothing. He is real fucked up right now. I could see it in his eyes,” Denise said.
Lena looked down. “Denise, you are the best friend a girl could ever have, and whatever girl you end up with is going to be the luckiest girl in the world.”
“I'll always be there for you.” Denise stood up and hugged Lena. For the first time she didn't feel that romantic spark between them.
They heard a knock at the door.
“That's probably Carmen. You won't believe what else happened,” Lena said as she opened the door. She gasped when she saw Brandon standing there fuming.

Misha closed the door to her dorm room. She was drained. What had happened? She grabbed her stomach. She was holding Patrick's seed. Misha sat down on her bed and pulled a tiny box out of her purse. She opened it and looked at the three-karat diamond ring.
Patrick asked her to marry him over dinner their last night. Misha didn't know what to say, so she said she needed some time. She knew that wasn't the answer he expected, but he accepted it. Misha knew that she loved Patrick, but she didn't know if she loved him enough to be married to him.
Misha thought about the look on Cooley's face. She knew she had broken her heart. Misha began to cry. She didn't know what she was going to say to Cooley. She owed all of her friends an explanation. Misha heard a knock on her door. She opened it to find Cooley standing there.
“Carla,” Misha said as Cooley walked into her room.
Cooley looked around the room. She noticed that Misha took down all of her pride paraphernalia. “So, the new switch in your ass was from some nigga!” Cooley couldn't explain the feeling she had. It was new to her.
Misha froze. She didn't realize how much Cooley loved her. “I'm so sorry, Cooley. I didn't mean for y'all to find out this way.”
“Misha, what the fuck is going on?” Cooley looked at Misha's desk and noticed the ring. She picked it up and looked at Misha.
“He's my first love. The only man I have ever loved. We saw each other at Lena's wedding, and things just went from there.”
“So, that's why you wouldn't get back with me. You went and got with some dude. You're engaged to a man?” Cooley felt her temper starting to flare
“I haven't said yes to him yet. But now, now I am going to tell him yes.”
Cooley looked down. She felt tears trying to form in her eyes, but she quickly fought them off. “Have a good life, Misha.” She started to walk out of the room.
Misha grabbed Cooley's arm. “Cooley, please. I don't want you out of my life.”
“What the fuck you mean, you don't want me out your life? You picked some nigga. You been fucking some nigga and fucking me at the same muthafuckin' time! How the fuck you gon' do me like this? I fuckin' love you and you fuck me over again!”
Misha's heart dropped when she saw the first tear fall from Cooley's eye. She grabbed Cooley and pulled her into her arms.
“Damn, Misha, why the fuck you doing this shit to me!” Cooley cried. She was no longer the hard masculine Cooley. She was Carla, a girl whose heart was broken.
“I love you too, Cooley, butâ” Before Misha could finish her sentence Cooley kissed her. Cooley wasn't going out that easily.
Misha wanted to resist, but she couldn't. She gripped Cooley tighter. Cooley raised Misha's skirt up and inserted her fingers inside of Misha. Misha let out a moan. Her nipples instantly became erect. Misha closed her eyes and let Cooley do her job.
Cooley stroked Misha's wetness. “No nigga can fuck you like this, Misha. No nigga can get you this wet.”
Misha let Cooley have her body. She closed her eyes as Cooley fingered her, causing nectar to run down Cooley's hand.
“You know you love me. Say you love me!”
“I do love you,” Misha cried. Misha thought she heard Patrick's voice in her head. She opened her eyes when she saw that Cooley had stopped. Misha turned around to see Patrick standing in the door, holding a dozen red roses.
Chapter 40
“Baby!” Lena exclaimed when she saw Brandon standing at Denise's front door.
Brandon looked at Denise then looked back at Lena. He quickly ran into the house and hit Denise.
Lena cried out for them to stop. Denise and Brandon were going head-to-head, fighting in the middle of the living room. Lena didn't know what to do. She was too small to break the fight up between them.
“I told you to stay away from her,” Brandon yelled as he threw another punch at Denise, who ducked and hit him with a right hook.
“Brandon, Denise, stop it please!” Lena yelled as she tried to grab Brandon's arm. Everything went black as she met his elbow instead.
Denise and Brandon instantly stopped when Lena hit the floor. Fear struck both of them as Brandon ran to pick her up.
“Baby, Lena, baby, wake up,” Brandon pleaded frantically as he tried to get her to open her eyes.
Denise grabbed some water and dabbed a few drops on Lena, causing her to open her eyes. Lena looked at both of them. Suddenly she let out a loud screech and grabbed her stomach.
“Lena!” Denise yelled at the sight of her friend in pain.
Brandon was frozen in one spot.
“Brandon, you gotta get her to a hospital.” Denise hit Brandon to snap him back to reality. “Brandon, get her to a hospital. She's pregnant!”
Brandon's face dropped. “Oh my God, what have I done?” Tears rolled from his face. Brandon quickly picked Lena up in his arms and carried her out of the room. He continued to call her name.
Denise stood there, not knowing what to do. She looked around her shattered living room. She wanted to follow, but something told her to stay.

“Patrick!” Misha yelled as Patrick walked out the door. She put her pants on and ran after him. Misha caught up with him as he made it down to the front; she could hear him calling for a cab. “Patrick, please wait!”
“Misha, what's going on?” Carmen yelled as she ran up to the dorm.
Misha flew right past her.
“Get the fuck away from me, Misha. Now I know why you couldn't say yes to me. You're fuckin' with another man!” Cooley ran out of the dorm after Misha.
Carmen tried to grab her arm, but couldn't get her in time.
Misha grabbed Patrick's arm. “Pat, please it's not what you think. Carla doesn't mean anything to me,” Misha said, oblivious to Cooley's presence.
Cooley froze when she heard Misha's words.
Carmen caught up to Cooley. She could see the pain in her friend's eyes.
Patrick turned toward Misha. “Carla? Carla? That was a fucking dyke?”
Misha could see the anger growing in him. “Patrick, please listen to me. I am so sorry. I am sorry.”
“Fuck you, Misha!” Patrick yelled, causing many people to look at her. Patrick turned and looked at Misha with disgust. “I can't believe you did this, Misha. I loved you.”
“Pat, I love you. I only want to be with you.”
“I can't tell, with what I just saw!”
Patrick turned to walk away.
“Patrick!” Misha yelled. “Patrick, I'm pregnant!” Patrick stopped in his tracks and turned around.
Misha looked at him. She hoped it wasn't too late.
