I hope this book has given you everything you need to know to make the Paleo diet a part of your lifestyle. Now the big question is: are you going all out Paleo or for a modified version?
With any change in lifestyle
, take it one step at a time. This works both ways: If you lose the weight you want with a Paleo lifestyle but decide to start adding other foods back in do it slowly. If you want to go back to eating pasta on a regular basis don’t start out with an all-you-can-eat Italian buffet or your stomach will make you feel like you are dying.
Be very mindful of the eating habits that caused you to gain weight in the first place and avoid repeating those at all costs. There is nothing wrong with enjoying alternative foods in moderation but if you are in a mindset where you cannot control yourself
, I would avoid those temptations entirely.
I want
to touch on supplements before you go. I would recommend taking a Vitamin D supplement no matter what diet you are on. If you are in a climate that has low amounts of sun or are in a job where you rarely see the sun, Vitamin D is your friend. There are numerous health benefits to supplementing with Vitamin D, but make sure you check with your doctor first.
If you are eating a healthy dose of vegetables you will be getting some calcium in your diet
, but with the elimination of dairy you may find yourself falling short. If you are concerned you can add a good quality calcium/magnesium supplement with your additional vitamin D helping with absorption.
If at any time when reading this book you were saying to yourself
‘I can’t do this because I don’t have access to this food’ or ‘I could never give up specific foods,’ let me reassure you that you can do this. With a little bit of research you will find foods that you can use as substitutes, and there is usually a way to include the foods you absolutely love.
As a weight loss coach I highly recommend you are honest with yourself about the foods you will not give up. I chose to keep Coca-Cola in my lifestyle
, but it is in moderation and planned into my days. The two litres a day are long gone, but I still enjoy it when I want. By doing so I am more motivated to stay with a healthy lifestyle because I do not feel deprived.
Remember this book is not about becoming a Paleo fanatic but to introduce you to a lifestyle change that is healthy and can help you achieve your weight loss goals. Any healthy change in your lifestyle is a great change.

Many clients experience such great success just by taking action on the 17 steps that they don’t need to hire Darrin.
