“This had better be worth it,” he growled as he stared at Amalia, lust and hunger visible in his gray eyes, “otherwise I will kill you.”

Amalia couldn’t understand the conversation, but judging by the serious look that crossed Gabriel’s face, it wasn’t a trivial matter.

After a short conversation in the liquid tongue of the angelus, Gabriel turned to her, keen displeasure visible on his face.  “That was Matt.  He had information about Aleks.”

She looked at him inquisitively as she propped herself up on her elbows.  “What about him?”

“Aleks came to the house when Matt and Sam were out.  He cleaned out his stuff.  All of it,” was his quiet reply.

Amalia felt her heart stop.  “So are we going after him?”

Gabriel smiled, “Aren’t we in the middle of something?  Besides, Matt and Sam are tracking him.  He just called me so someone in power would know.”

With a small laugh, she rebuttoned her shirt, gently shoving him away.  He resisted, pushing her back on the bed.

“No,” he growled as he kissed her softly, nibbling her lower lip.  He moved his hand under her
shirt, up to her breasts.  She stopped resisting when he lightly ran his thumbs over her nipples, arching her back when he moved his mouth down to her neck.  She could feel an electric current race from his hands to her nether regions; his mouth seemed to leave a trail of fire wherever it had been.

Gabriel separated her legs with a knee as he ran a hand down her taut abdomen, brushing his fingers lightly over her jeans.  He started to slip his fingers under the waistband of her panties when the front door opened.  They both froze; his mouth on her neck, and her back arched toward him.

With a curse, Gabriel pulled back when he heard Matt call out from the living room.  He gave her a look filled with desire and lust, as he silently cursed Matt’s name.

She swallowed hard several times before rebuttoning her shirt with shaking hands.

Gabriel had just swung off the bed as Matt poked his head in the doorway, a knowing look on his face.

“Did I interrupt?” the young solan asked, a mischievous grin covering his face.

“Ass,” Gabriel growled as he shouldered past Matt, sending Matt several steps backward.

Amalia gave a shaky laugh before picking up the landline phone that sat beside the bed.  “Aleks comes first,” she told herself as the disappointment welled up inside.

“I’m here to grab the paperwork Gabriel took,” Matt said, leaning in the door.  “So, what’d I miss?  Anything you want to share?”

Amalia gave him a dirty look, which only made his cocky grin widen.

“Thought so,” he said, pushing away from the doorjamb with a laugh, ducking the book she hurled at his head.

“Call my cousin.  Morgan.  Her number’s on the fridge,” she said with a frustrated edge.  Shaking her head, she carefully stood before following Gabriel.

She walked up behind him as he stood staring out the French door into the shadows.  “So, you were saying something about you owning a large house that you share with just your sister?  Matt doesn’t happen to have a key, does he?”

Gabriel turned to her with a throaty chuckle.  “No, he doesn’t.”  He paused as he stared into her green eyes.  “So, want to come to my place?”

“That,” she said with a low laugh, “I think would be a
very
good idea, Mister Winterbourne.”  She raised on her tiptoes and softly kissed him.  “A very good idea.”
