Maya

The safe, secret phone vibrates a few minutes after I log off. A text from Isaac. He’ll be here in a few minutes. The idea of him sneaking in here is worrisome, but I doubt anyone’s watching for him. Does Luke know that I left yet?

My heart leaps into my throat when I hear a knock a
t the door and I scamper over there. He shouldn’t stand in the hallway for very long. I need to give him a key, but that might look suspicious, not to mention Piper is going freak out enough about this whole situation as it is. I open the door to that cocky grin and pull him inside. He is ridiculously hot in this hoodie.

“Hi,” we say in unison, but that’s the only
word spoken for a while because his smile crashes into mine and we get lost.

When we finally come up for air, he glances around the room like he’s savoring every little detail. I feel more on display
now than I did the first time he saw me naked. Biting my lip, I fidget on my tiptoes as he walks around my tiny home. I know he said that he doesn’t care about money, but this place is so shabby compared to that apartment downtown.

“I love your place, Maya. Can I see your room?”

“Sure.” I’m almost positive this is a girl next door fantasy for him and my mouth goes dry as I open the door.

The grin he wears gets goofier as he crosses the threshold. “It’s like stepping inside your brain.”

“Too many posters?”

“You’re kidding, right? This is m
e we’re talking about. Is this the periodic table of elements?”

“Every nerd
must have that one up, it’s part of our code.”

“God, I love that smart mouth.
What is World of Warcraft?” he asks, gesturing to the wall above my desk.

“I suppose it’s time you knew the truth,” I say a little too seriously as he jerks his eyes to mine. “It’s a
roleplaying game I play online with my little brother. I’m a PC gamer, you’re a console gamer, Isaac. It was never meant to be.”

“You aren’t allowed to joke about that!” he laughs, tickling my ribs and kissing the tip of my nose. “So what did you do today?”

“Took a nap and played WoW for way too long.”

“With Garrett?”

“Yeah, it was really great.”

Good,” he replies. I would love to ask him the same question, but he can’t answer me. My cat ends the standoff as she crawls out from under my bed, stretching her legs and yowling as she stalks toward Isaac like she knows him. “So this must be AJ. Nice to meet you.” I brace for her to swat at him when he reaches down to let her sniff his fingers, but the fur ball actually rubs them. “She purrs so loud.”

Get used it waking you up, that’s her trademark.”

“I hate to break it to you
kitty, but you’ve got some competition when it comes to cuddles now.”

She lets out a crotchety meow and we both laugh, then she actually lets him pet her head. “She
isn’t typically this friendly to new people, she must like you.”

“Was she happy to see you?” I nod. He tries to pick her up, but she scampers away, leaving his hands free to link with mine. “I know I’m happy to see you.”

“Me, too.”

“Turn around.”

“Isaac…” There’s no point arguing with him. I grumble as he spins me around and lifts my shirt, tugging the top of my pants down to inspect the bruise on the base of my spine as he draws in a sharp breath.

“Goddammit,
” he snaps.

“It’s not that bad.”

“You obviously didn’t look in the mirror.”

Actually, I did
. The bruise is so purple it’s practically black in the center. It felt like I’d be lying to him when I thought about covering it with makeup. I’m glad I didn’t because he drops to his knees and covers it with kisses and apologies in between curses directed at himself.

“Okay, that’s enough,” I chastise him, whirling around and sinking to my knees. “I’m not letting you ruin this. I’m so excited that you’re here.”

“Me too.”

“Oh, I bet you are
,” I coo, kissing his face everywhere until I get a hint of a smile. “You got to sneak into the girl next door’s room.”

“Maya…” He squirms.

“And you get to be the first guy to fuck her in her bed,” I rasp into his ear, nibbling his earlobe.

“Are you serious?”

“Of course I am. I don’t usually let people into my space, but I’m making an exception in this case because I have a major crush on you. And you’re super hot.”

I missed you so much,” he groans, sliding his hand into my hair.

He stops himself from making a fist even though I can tell he really wants to, tickling my scalp instead. Nipping his bottom lip, I fumble with the button on his pants as his fingers circle my wrist to stop my advance. His halfhearted resistance only lasts a few seconds
before that hand glides under my shirt, skimming over the goose bumped skin on my belly until it’s groping my breast as he pushes his tongue into my mouth. I free him, my arousal shooting through the roof as I wrap my fingers around his excitement. He’s hard as a rock, he is
so
horny right now. For me. He groans loudly into our kiss as I stroke him, his hand departing my hair to meet the other one at the clasp of my bra.

“Stop,” I gasp, leaning back as he looks at me in confusion
. “I have a vision for this particular sexual encounter.” One that doesn’t involve him losing it and hating himself afterwards.

“Oh, really?” he taunts
me, tilting his head to the side.

Planting a kiss on his nose, I crawl over to my desk as he watches me with curious eyes. He is even hotter
now that he’s in my room. It feels more real.

“So I really wanted to suck your dick.”

“Oh, I don’t think so. You are going first. And—”

“And second, third, and fourth. I know how it works,” I assure him. “We’ll get to that. But maybe if I put these on, you’ll see it my way.”

Hiding under my hair, I slide on the old pair of glasses I found and pop up with a grin. His lips part as he blinks in surprise. “Fuck,” he whispers.

“And I’m sure you noticed that I’m wearing my nerdiest of t-shirts.” I lick my lips.

“Yes, I definitely did. You are so fucking hot, I can’t wait to rip it off you.”

He moves in to attack me, but I stop him
when my finger meets his lips. “Please,” I whine. “I really want to.” He hesitates, but he’s craving it even more than I am. “You like it when I look at you, imagine how much you’ll love it when I’m wearing these.” He lets out an involuntary groan that was almost a squeak. “Don’t you want your first girlfriend to give you a blowjob the first time you’re in her bedroom? That’s usually how it goes.”

“The only thing that’s harder to resist than your whiny voice are these cheesy high school fantasies
.”

“I know.”

Pulling his shirt off, he kisses me deeply before rising to his feet. I stroke him quickly, noting that he’s already at the edge as his knees buckle slightly. This shouldn’t take long. Locking eyes with him, I approach slowly, biting my lip and faking a nervous expression.

“I do not deserve this,
” he groans.

“Yes, you do.”

I latch onto him deeply as he cries out my name, dragging his fingers along my collarbone, coaxing me to hold his hand. He’s so cute when he does that. Gritting his teeth, he tries to hold out but I just suck him harder until he explodes before he wants to, screaming for me. When it’s over, I swallow him as he falls to the ground in a heap of heaving breaths.

“Okay, let’s christen your bed.”

“There’s no hurry.”

“Yes there is, I’m fu
cking exhausted. I barely slept,” he pants. I wonder where until he kisses me, pulling that nerdy t-shirt over my head. “Am I really the first one?”

“You are. I promise,” I whisper as his lips dance around my face.

“I love you, Maya.”

I only
come for him once until he’s hard enough for sex, giggling in his ear as he slides inside of me. He’s super snuggly and gentle, covering the bruise on my back with his hand the whole time. I easily convince him to finish way earlier than he normally would. He really is exhausted.

It’s almost like I’m sleeping with two different people. My sweet and tender boyfriend mutter
s how sorry he is as he falls asleep in my arms. The territorial brute that bent me over the counter wakes up a few hours later, ready for more.

“I like how tiny your bed is,” he yawns, answering my complaint. “You can’t get away from me.”

“Yeah, but we have to sleep in the puddle now.”

“Okay, that part
does suck. I could buy you a king so we can slide over when we’re done, but I’m not sure it will fit in here.”

“There’s no way, it’ll take up the whole room.”

“Too bad we can’t move.”

“I don’t want to move, I like my place.”

“Would you move in with me, if we weren’t in such a fucked up situation and we could?” he asks in that little kid voice that melts my heart.

“Maybe.”
I don’t want to lie.

“I was hoping for a yes. Kind of expecting it, really.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I want to sleep with you every night.”

“We could do all that couple stuff like fighting over paint color schem
es and china patterns.”

“You know we’d pick the same
things. And if we didn’t, you’d cave and just give me what I want,” I tease. “But if we weren’t in this fucked up situation, we wouldn’t quite be ready to move in together yet.”

“But that’s not the whole story, is it?”

“Okay, I don’t really want to leave Piper. It’s our senior year.”

“I know,” he sighs. “And I don’t want to steal the little bit of normality you have in your life. I’m glad I can’t ask.”

“I’d say yes, Isaac. I’d just feel really shitty about it.”

“Me too.” We move in for a kiss
, but right then the fucked up situation stops us. My phone vibrates loudly on the nightstand next to us, the ringtone I have set for Luke echoing in my ears. Holy shit. This is it. I think I’m going to hyperventilate. “You can do this. We practiced.”

“Okay,” I peep, tears filling my eyes. Isaac lays a piece of paper on the bed in front of me, the list of things he wrote down to remind me what to say in case I
freeze up. He thinks of everything. “Hi,” I answer, my voice trembling.

“Hey
, cutie. I just got the call. Are you alright?”

It’s been so long since I heard his voice
I barely recognize it. It used to be so comforting, now it’s making me lightheaded. “Not really.”

“You made it so long. What happened?”

“I got sick of being called a whore,” I whisper. He doesn’t say anything. “Is that really what you think of me?”

“Did you like the cooking part?”

“I did.” My hand starts shaking so much I’m afraid I’ll drop the phone. Isaac scoots closer, but doesn’t really touch me, so I lean against him and he wraps his arm around my waist. “You didn’t answer my question.”

“What do you want me to say, Maya? You knew what you were getting into.”

“No, actually, I didn’t. That really hurt my feelings.”

“Your feelings?” he snorts. “What are you, ten years old? It’s a fucking game and you couldn’t handle it, don’t turn
this around on me.”

“But it’s not a game. That’s what you said
, that’s why I went there. So, that’s what you think.”

“Why did you stay for so long?”

“It took me a while to figure out that you were the one really saying it, not the freak you left me with.” It kills me to call him that, but Isaac told me to. He doesn’t even flinch. “The idea that it would be your voice soon didn’t sink in right away. I thought you loved me, Luke.”

“Maya… I
am not dealing with your bullshit right now. Call me when you grow up,” he snaps.

“Luke, I—” The call ends. “He hung up on me.”

“I know, I heard everything.” Isaac takes the phone from my hand and cleans away the paper.

“It went just like you said it would,” I
murmur.

“That’s a good sign. You did great.”

A shudder rolls through my body. I try to get up, but my legs feel like jelly. “I can’t do this.”

“Yes, you can. You just did.”

“I can’t,” I choke. The room spins and my eyelids won’t starting fluttering. “It’s so chilly in here.”

“Maya?” Isaac’s hand feels like it’s on fire when it lands on my forehead. “Try to breathe, Rookie.”

“He’ll call back soon.”

“Don’t worry about that. Just lay down.”
Wrapping his body around mine, he pulls me under the covers, but somehow he still seems too far away.
