Caine nodded with approval and smiled as Ian glanced his way. The girl was gathered in her husband's arms and sought comfort in his hold, and began to kiss him. At first, the kisses were no more than little pecks on the lips, which then turned into a mouth crushing embrace.
"I'll be outside," Caine said, quickly leaving the couple to themselves and joining his family and Carlton in the living room.
"That was a lot of noise. Is everything okay?" Layton asked, moving over to allow Caine some room.
"Everything is perfect. I'm pretty sure that they are going to be okay."
"Dr. Daddy Dom strikes again, huh?"
"All I know is that they turned something broken and horrible into something whole and beautiful. I'm so proud of Ian," Caine said.
"Daddy? Are you crying?" May asked, scrambling to his lap.
He held her tightly and kissed her face. "I'm overwhelmed by how strong love can be if we allow it to have its wings. Look at all the things that have happened because of that horrible situation. A marriage is renewed, respect is born, you have a sister, and that fucking asshole bastard sperm donor of yours has a bloodied face and is facing decades of jail time."
"Ooh, Daddy, you said bad words! I think you need a spanking."
"I think I need a hug. I love you." Caine wrapped his arm around Layton's neck and kissed his forehead. "Even you, you dumbass."
"Don't call me a dumbass."
