Primed and ready, it didn’t take long for his teasing tongue and stroking fingers to send her over the edge. She gasped for air, her fingernails digging into his scalp but he didn’t let up, his tongue sending her over a second time in a mini-climax that had her thighs clamping around his head to hold him in place.

“Shane, oh God. So good.”

Her voice was barely intelligible and he couldn’t hold back the swell of pride that ran through him as she lay under his body, panting and barely coherent.

And he wasn’t done yet.

Hovering over her, his weight on his palms, he slowly sunk deep inside of her, savoring every second until he was in to the hilt. The tight, hot walls of her channel hugged him and he had to pause for a moment to find some modicum of control and not climax immediately like a schoolboy.

Her nails dug into his shoulders and her legs wrapped around his waist. “Please, Shane.”

Her wish was his command. He began to move slowly and deliberately, pulling almost all the way out before thrusting back in, each stroke rubbing her clit. Her fingers glided down his spine and then gripped his buttocks tightly as he forced his eyes to stay open. He didn’t want to miss a moment of watching Arden in the throes of passion.

Her head tossed from side to side as he pistoned into her over and over, faster and harder, until they were both close to exploding. His balls had drawn up close to his body and he couldn’t hold back much longer so he reached between them, his fingers finding the center of her pleasure with unerring accuracy.

“Shane!” she called as her orgasm hit her, clenching around him until he too tumbled over, a fiery heat sweeping him from head to toe. When it was over he slumped on top of her, too drained to even move, although he was probably crushing her to death.

“I swear I’m going to roll off.” He sucked oxygen into his starved and aching lungs, his limbs like lead. “Any minute now.”

Giggling, she wrapped her arms around him, pressing a kiss to his sweaty chest. “I’m fine. Breathing is overrated.”

With a groan, he heaved himself off and onto his back, pulling her with him and tucking her into his side, her head on his chest.

“I want to do that every night for the rest of our lives. Well, maybe not every single night but as close as we can get.” He looked down at her and realized this was what he’d dreamed about all the time they’d been apart. “Basically I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you move in with me, Arden? Wake up with me every day? I don’t think you’re ready for me to propose to you, but know that’s coming too.”

There were logistics—like the home she was renovating and whether she’d want to live on the ranch—but those were details they could discuss later. The important thing was to make sure they were together.

But she didn’t answer right away, which was making him nervous…and scared. Maybe he was moving too fast.

“I should never have left,” she finally replied. “I should have stayed with you and worked on my issues but I’ve just been so used to having to do things on my own. I’ve never had anyone in my life – not even Ben – that I could trust with all my emotions. Not until you. I’m sorry, Shane. I shouldn’t have put us through that.”

He blew out a breath in relief. If her loner tendencies were their biggest problem then they’d be fine. “Is that a yes or a no on the moving in thing? I’m unclear.”

Laughter bubbled from her lips and his heart squeezed in his chest simply listening to it, a sound he’d wondered if he’d ever hear again. He wanted to make her laugh every day.

Right along with the sex every day too.

They were going to be very busy.

“It’s a yes. Absolutely yes. And you’re right that I’m not ready for a marriage proposal.” She leaned over and kissed him, slow and tender. “But don’t wait too long. I love you.”

“I love you too. We’re going to be very happy, sweetheart. I promise.”

Sometimes the one dream you never think will come true does just that.
