Fin & Matt (14 page)

Oh, thank
God
.  If he was gay, I didn’t stand a chance.

“Wow, that’s impressive.”  I nervously picked up a napkin and placed it on my lap.  “Well done, you.”

Nate let out a hearty chuckle.  “I’d like to think so.  Matt tells me you’re a teacher.  Piano?”

“Yes,” I answered simply.

“And you went to Notre Dame?”

“Guilty.”  I took a long drink of water, desperate to find a server to dish up something a little stronger.

My first instinct was to order a Cosmo; instead, I chose a pint of vanilla porter and sipped at it slowly while Matt and Nate talked football.  Every once in a while, Matt tried to include me, but I had little to add, keeping quiet for most of the meal.

I smiled and laughed in all of the right places, but this wasn’t my element.  Try as I might, I just wasn’t a football spouse.  However, after seeing the pure passion in Matt’s eyes that night, I knew it wouldn’t hurt to study up a bit.

Matt looked over at me before taking my hand in his… right in front of the Hulk.  “Fin’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”  Then, without any warning, he stood and announced his need for a bathroom break, leaving me to fend for myself with the herculean Nate Curtis.

“Has Matt told you about the job?  The travel?” he asked.

“We’ve only had about an hour with each other all day.  It’s been pretty frenzied.”

He took a sip of his ale and smiled.  “You guys will be great.”

You guys will be great?

“As opposed to…?” I asked.

“Some people love the travel and some don’t.  It’s hard to say.”

“Well, he was a team doctor before.  He knows what the schedule is like.”

“But do you?  Are you used to being without him?”  He crossed his bulky arms across his chest.

I cleared my throat and crossed my hands in my lap.  “Not necessarily, but I understand what the job entails, Mr. Curtis.  I know that travel is expected.”

“Please understand I’m not saying this to cause discomfort.  I just wanted to—”

Matt squeezed the back of my neck before taking his seat.  “We can’t wait to settle in, can we?” he asked, his mega-watt smile melting my core.

“No,” I answered, glancing over at Nate.  “We can’t wait.”

Chapter Thirteen

“Y
ou’ve been quiet.”  Matt hung his sweater in the closet and slowly unbuttoned his pants, slipping them down his athletic legs.

I paged through the newest Attitude magazine, letting a short laugh slip from my throat.  “There’s a list.  Twelve reasons it’s better to be gay than straight.”

He crawled into bed and rested his cheek on my bare thigh.  “What’s number one?”

“The sex, of course.”

“Of course.”

“No one accidentally ever gets pregnant,” I replied with a smile.  “And, apparently, we men like it often.  Put two of us together and – voila! – instant debauchery.  Oh… someone in the comments says ‘enjoying the hole and the pole.’”

He laughed heartily, a deep bellow from the chest.  “What else?”

“Well, they mention doubling your wardrobe.  Unfortunately, that’s not the case for us.  We don’t even wear the same shoe size.”

“It’s a shame because your clothes are ten times hotter than mine.”  He turned his head and started to press slow kisses to the tops of my thighs.

I wanted to surrender.  I longed to feel him inside of me… to taste his tongue in my mouth.  “You want to go out?” I blurted.

“Now?”  He readjusted his position, lying between my legs, his lips dragging over the outside of my briefs.  My dick thickened with arousal as his tongue traced along the shaft.

“A bar?” I choked out.  “Um… there are a few gay bars…”

Matt tugged at the elastic band and licked over the swollen head while giving me a shy smile.  He was so fucking sexy, I couldn’t resist.  I put the magazine down and closed my eyes with a low groan.

“Still want to go out?” he breathed.

“Maybe later.”

His mouth enveloped me – hot, wet, and unrelenting.  He licked me lazily in between hard draws, using his hand to stroke me steadily.  I held his gaze, unable to close my mouth as I watched him pleasure me.

“I can’t wait to be inside of you,” he whispered, grazing my slit with a flattened tongue.

I nodded frantically as he rolled me to my side and spooned in behind me.  He promptly grabbed a condom from the bedside table and made quick work of rolling it on.  The slow, soothing massage of his fingers worked between my legs as I opened for him.

“Touch yourself.”  His voice was low as his hot breath drifted behind my ear.

I hooked my right leg behind his knee as he pushed his heavy cock inside, hot waves of ache turning rapidly toward pleasure.  “You do it,” I cried, arching my back as he gripped my solid shaft.  When he squeezed me, a few pearly drops wept onto his thick fingers.  “Fuck… ohhh!”

His hand worked deftly, stroking over my sensitive head as his skilled hips rocked against my backside, pounding repeatedly with a deafening smack.  “Does it feel good?”  His sex-laden murmur stirred in my ear as my dick twitched involuntarily in his hand.

“You’re so fucking big,” I replied with a whimper, craning my neck back as he bit at the flesh, inevitably leaving a mark.

I
wanted
him to mark me.  I
needed
him to make me his.

He lifted my leg higher, thrusting in and out of my body, as he jerked my weeping cock in desire.  “Matt,” I choked out.  “I’m… I’m…”

“Come for me.”  He squeezed my aching head as I exploded into his hand and onto my trembling core.

Matt drove into me with purpose for mere seconds after my release, stilling with one final drawn-out moan.  His breath came quickly, followed by a bout of laughter.  He always laughed after sex; it was one of the things I loved most about him.  It was a sign of relief.

Affection…

Love.

“Still want to go out?” he panted, slipping from my body.

I winced for a moment before turning to face him with a wide grin.  “Yes… take me out.”

The bar was crowded, a typical Saturday night in a city of nearly a million people.  We barely made it out of the hotel; Matt was in a mood and was more interested in setting some sort of sex record than familiarizing himself with our new town.

We ordered a drink each, sipping slowly and taking in our surroundings.  Instead of dancing, Matt found us a seat in the corner and pulled me onto his lap.  His hand drifted up the back of my t-shirt as he whispered in my ear.

“Tell me why we came out again?”

I sighed.  “Because we’re leaving tomorrow and we haven’t seen anything.”

“We’ve seen lots of things.  I saw my new office… you saw our dream house.  Now what I want to see is you naked and under me.”

“Jesus, Matt.  I was naked forty minutes ago.”  I let out a short laugh.  “It’s one drink.”

He pressed a tongue-laced kiss to my neck.  “Then finish it.  My balls are aching.”

I rolled my eyes.  “I want you to dance with me.”

“Now?”

Just then, Madonna’s
Inside Out
floated through the nearest speakers.  Gay stereotype or not, I loved Madge and didn’t care if that tidbit revoked my man-card.  “Yes, now.”

It was remixed a bit, but still hadn’t lost the slow, sex-driven tempo that I loved.  Matt smacked me on the behind.  “Lead the way.”

The floor was busy, but we managed to find a spot near a wide column close to the bar.  Matt’s hands found my hips, pulling me in close as his ever-stiffening cock ground against mine.  My arms wrapped around his neck as he lowered to kiss me.  It was animalistic and full of wet tongue as his hands ambled lower, cupping my ass with a distinct hunger.

I grabbed a handful of his thick hair as his mouth ravaged mine, urging me against the hard column with a gentle pressure.  His lips lowered to my neck, sucking at my sweat-slicked skin with wanton lust.

“Matt,” I breathed close to his ear.  “Let’s go.”

He nodded.  “Yeah.  Taxi or walking?”

“Taxi.  Now.”

He kissed me quickly, rubbing his thumb over my lower lip.  “Give me two minutes and I’ll meet you out front.  I’ve gotta pee.”

As he exited the restroom, I watched as a man stopped him, running his fingers over Matt’s well-defined chest.  He was blonde, not much different than my own, and beautifully sculpted – wearing nothing but a pair of (very short) shorts and a smile.  His hand drifted to Matt’s waist when I found myself moving… fast.

“Hey,” I said, reaching for Matt’s hand.

“Hi, babe.  You ready?”

The blonde glanced between the two of us.  “This your toy?”

Matt ignored him, linking his fingers with mine before turning me toward the door.

I turned back and responded, “He’s mine.”

I wasn’t sure what had come over me in that moment, but I felt my face burn – the thought of another man touching Matt nearly brought bile to the surface.

“You sure, honey?” the man clipped.  “A man like
that
?  You better hold on tight, princess.”

“Come on, Fin,” Matt whispered.  “He’s not worth it.”

The cool air did nothing to calm my frazzled nerves as we walked to the street, looking for a cab that didn’t exist.  “Shit,” I mumbled, wiping the anxious tears from my cheeks.

Matt clasped my hand harder, giving a single, hard whistle to the only car with an overhead light on.  “It’s okay,” he said, opening the door for me.  When I slid in, he sat close, rubbing my knee with his thumb.  “That guy was just being an asshole.”

He gave the driver the name of the hotel and turned his attention back to me.

“If it’s not this guy, it’s another guy, Matt.”  I sniffled like an adolescent, realizing that it was the first time I’d ever had to deal with actual jealousy.  The waiter at the restaurant was one thing, but Matt was a man that other men noticed.  If I made a scene every time another man looked at him, I would lose him.

If I lost him, it would be
my
fault.

“There are no other guys, Fin.”  He stroked my hair.  “You know that, right?”

“I know, I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.”  He leaned in to brush his lips against mine.  “I only want you.”

“It was something that Nate said… earlier tonight when you left us alone.  I’ve been letting it bother me and I don’t know why.”

“What did he say?”  Matt held me tightly, kissing the top of my head with adoration.

“He asked me if I knew what the job entailed.  About the travel… just that some people like it and others have a hard time—”

We came to a stop at the hotel turnabout as Matt fished a twenty dollar bill out of his pocket and handed it to the driver.  “Keep the change.”  He tugged at my hand as I followed him out of the car and into the elevator.  When we were alone, he turned to me.  “You think I
want
to travel?  To leave you?”

“I didn’t say that.”

“I know what you’re thinking.”  His voice was cooler, staring into the elevator doors.  “I traveled when I was with Becky and our marriage fell apart.”

“Yes, but—”

“My marriage ended because I was
gay
, Fin.  The travel had nothing to do with it.”

The doors opened and Matt stepped out first, turning left toward the suite.  I followed close behind, grasping his t-shirt into my fist.  “Matt, please.”

Once we were inside, he threw the key card onto the counter and headed into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

“Matt,” I called.  “Baby…”

A few minutes later, he came out dressed in a white undershirt and thin pajama pants.  He glanced at me once before mumbling, “I wouldn’t have asked you to marry me.  If I wanted something casual, I would have just fucked you and never called again.”

I stepped in front of him, placing my hands on his broad chest.  “Stop.  Look at me.  Let me explain, okay?”

“What is there to explain?  Tonight, with that guy, I walked away.  I’ll
always
walk away, Fin.  I don’t want another man.”  He moved past me and slipped under the covers, turning the bedside light off.

It was a risk – not knowing the next move – but I stripped bare and slipped into bed with him, snaking my arm around his waist.  “Touch me,” I whispered.

He sat up and turned the light back on.  “Will that fix this?”

“You want to know why I’m acting like a fucking teenage girl?”  I shot up in bed and moved to straddle him, essentially cementing him in place.  He could have rejected me easily, but didn’t, finally looking at me.  Really
looking
.  “When I first saw you, I thought that you were some fantasy I had made up in my head.  You were beautiful and smart… athletic and sexy… and you kept talking to me.  Over and over, you came back.  I actually thought you might be flirting.  Like maybe you knew I was gay and throwing me a bone.  I couldn’t imagine why you would even be interested.”

Matt pushed my shoulders, forcing my back to hit the mattress.  He loomed over me, the physical weight of his chest nearly crushing me.  “Because I was nuts about you,” he whispered, his overgrown hair falling against my forehead.

“I know that now, but I’ve never thought that a man like you could ever want a man like me.  So, instead of being happy, I let some flirty fucking go-go boy ruin it by calling me less of a man.”

“A man like
you
?” he asked, cocking an eyebrow.  “Your sweet laugh makes my heart melt” – kiss – “your sexy smile makes my dick hard” – kiss – “your gorgeous fuck-me hair makes me want to spend every minute under the covers with you… messing it up.”  He tugged a few strands at the nape, forcing my neck to crane.  His finger dragged over my Adam’s apple with a gentle graze.  “You’re brilliant” – kiss – “and talented” – kiss – “but the best part?”

I smiled softly and murmured, “What?”

“You’re mine.”

Chris picked us up from the hotel on Sunday morning and drove us to the Delaware house.  When we started to walk up the drive, Matt had a similar reaction to mine the day before.

“Wow,” he breathed.  “It’s beautiful.”  He lowered his lips to my ear and quietly asked, “How much is this again?”

“Six eighty-nine,” I mumbled.  “But you need to see it.”

He pulled me into a stop.  “Chris, we’ll catch up with you.”  Once Chris was inside, he ran a jittery hand through his hair.  “Baby, I can’t afford this.  And I’m not letting you pay for it.”

“Matt,” I responded, blowing out a frustrated breath.  “Every month, more money gets deposited into that fucking account.  Besides buying stuff for the apartment, I rarely touch it.  I don’t even know how much is in there because I use my salary to pay for all of my daily expenses.  Am I supposed to just hold onto it until I die?  I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I don’t have any heirs to pass it down to.  So the bottom line is, I love this fucking house and I hope you do too.”  I took his hand firmly in mine and led him to the side door.  “Get over the money, sweetheart.  What’s mine is yours.”

Matt had the same response to the inside that I had.  “My God,” he mumbled.  “It’s—”
