Forever Distraction (Distraction #3) (21 page)

A loud knock on the door echoed around us, but I continued
undeterred. A male voice followed the banging. “Ms. Covington, your appointment is here.”
Bang…Bang…Bang…
Owen repeated what he said, his rough voice laced with aggravation. He continued until Katarina finally responded.

“I’ll be right there
; I am kind of in the middle of something.” I glanced up through my lashes to see her flushed face, eyes closed, mouth in its beautiful O-shape, and her hands gripped so tightly on the counter her knuckles were white. I slurped and sucked for a few more moments and then stood up in front of her. She was spread open for me in complete surrender, her eyes dancing over my face, and then her hand gently reached out to wipe away the wetness around my mouth…her wetness.

“I like your mouth
, Mr. Riggs,” her eyes shifted to mine and I could read her unspoken words in her twinkling eyes, “and what you do with it...I love you.” Her eyes held mine in a lock, a silent duel, and then the banging started again.
Fucking cock-blocking Owen was driving me insane
.

I picked her up and kissed her when I sat her feet back on the ground. She moaned in my mouth at the taste of herself on my lips.
Horny girl.

“It’s a freaking
sausage-fest
out there.” She licked her lips after she said it and adjusted her skirt, smoothing it down before she opened the door, and I stepped back and roared with laughter.

Chapter Fourteen
Did You Know?

Katarina

I stood and waited a few short minutes for everyone to silence, and then I began my speech. All I could really think about was how much I enjoyed today.
Well…the sex part of today
. I smiled big as I watched Jason walk in; he was clean-shaven with a haircut, and his hair was styled ruggedly GQ. His suit was snug and he looked very large in a muscular, gonna-kick-your-ass kind of way as he stood next to my brother. I got a rush of tingles that spread throughout my body, and it settled in my most intimate areas. Jason took a seat next to me and I lost all my current thoughts of what I was about to do, and all I wanted to do was bury my nose in his clean-shaven neck. I stared helplessly at him, because he was yummy and he owned my body and soul…and that was scary shit. I tore my eyes away from him, which was hard because he was gazing at me now with his green eyes wickedly, and I found a whole lot of lust inside them all for me.

“I want to thank everyone
who traveled with us this weekend.” I took a moment to nod at Father Nickels, my brother, and one of the larger investors who had taken an interest in my grandfather’s foundation. I narrowed my eyes on the construction owner and my face turned serious. “I want to first take care of business before I let my brother and others talk.” I glanced down at my paper for my notes for Allied Construction’s Schmitt Peterson.

“I actually asked Mr. Peterson to see me earlier today
, but he couldn’t make the time, so I’ll now have the conversation I meant to happen in privacy. Mr. Peterson, your lack of respect is what cost you this account.” I glanced up at the waiting security in the doorway. “Your language was offensive, and you still haven’t seemed to absorb that I hold the majority of the financial interest in this project.” I made solid eye contact, directing my entire conversation at him.

Schmitt was a large man with a touch of evil in his eyes
. The way he was squinting at me, like he wanted me to disappear as he directed the laser beams from his eyes, told me he was trying to intimidate me.
Ha!
I wanted to laugh out loud, but I was sure it wouldn’t be very professional. This was why I didn’t choose business; I hated men like Schmitt. I was always cheering for the underdog, even if the underdog hurt me. Disrespectful outright assholes could go to hell. So, I stared back at him with just as much intensity, and an evil smile took over my face.

Years of watching reality
TV show goodbyes popped into my mind. I wanted to say, Your journey with Slater enterprises has ended today, or, You didn’t get a rose; take a few minutes to say your goodbyes, or maybe even, With a vote of 2 to 0, you are the next to be voted off; please gather your belongings and exit the house, but ultimately I went with, “You are terminated; security will help you out.” He raised his hands in the air in a what-the-hell expression and shot a look to my brother, but Brian was too busy with the papers in front of him to give a shit.

Silence engulfed us and I said as calmly as possible
, “Don’t look at him. The decision has been made.”

Brian looked up as I spoke and gave a firm nod. “Sexual harassment
, Schmitt, she’s not backing down. Security has your final check.”

That’s right
. Buh-bye.
He left cursing foul names for me under his breath and I lowered my head when I felt a hand on the back of my leg. Jason studied me. I winked and he smiled the all-teeth, wide smile, my favorite one. I took longer to introduce the new construction team and then gave the meeting over to Brian. I sat down and slipped my hand down Jason’s thigh, and it immediately began to bounce. I fished around in my bag sitting next to my chair and I pulled out my phone. I showed it to Jason under the table. He gave me a questioning glance and I opened up my text messages. He let a sly smile slip. I handed him my phone to make it work and he took it. I looked to my brother, nodding like I was listening, but I wasn’t. I gave him all the information, so I already knew what he was talking about. I gave it to him, because people listened to him better than they did me. I did the firing thing to make a point, to prove who was really in charge.

Jason

I couldn’t believe how hot she was. Katarina just fired a fucker for sexual harassment, and
holy hell,
I am so turned on.
He did the stare thing, the dominant stare thing that all of the business men tried to do and she gave it right back to him—no, she fucking shoved it down his throat.
Good girl
. Her world was so different than I ever expected; it was serious and tense, and fuck, there were alpha males all over the frickin’ place. When the man she fired started to curse, I lifted my gaze to Owen, and his eyes were fixed on Katarina. He was like a prideful lion watching his cub pierce the jugular. His smile was slow, and I couldn’t see his eyes because he was wearing dark glasses, but the crinkle next to the corners told me he was very happy.

When the man a
cross the table stood, Owen shot me a look and I touched her leg gently and discretely under the table. I knew she wasn’t going to run. I also knew she was a force of nature right now and didn’t need my support, but knowing I could touch her was reassuring, and if the motherfucker across the table took a step toward her, I could be that much closer to her to shield her from any maliciousness. She stared down at me, completely ignoring the chaos that had broken out. I was taken into her calm blue eyes like she was drugging me slowly, and I was vaguely aware of the anger and the hitting sounds within the room. I wasn’t sure who was getting hit and who was delivering it, because my beauty was now smiling the most innocent of all smiles.

She just t
ook out the biggest man at the table and looked like she had finished a bowl of ice cream and was ready for bed. At that moment, I remembered why I believed there was a God and why I thought he really liked me. I smiled back at her; it was the smile that carried my heart. She could have it as long as I got to be right by her side. She sat and immediately rested her hand on my thigh, and instead of calming me, it made me want to take her…hard. It was the innocence that made me want it rough and nasty. I wanted to wash away the white and make her dirty. Katarina dug through her purse, pulled out her phone, and waved it under the table at me. I snatched her phone and couldn’t resist the temptation of going through it. She had almost a hundred texts she never opened, and I clicked on the top one from Tommy. He had the most incoming texts. I read the first five.

Tommy:
I am thinking about you. I hope your vacation was superb. We have meaningful plans tonight.

What the he
ll?
Superb? Fuck, who talks like that?
I kind of wanted to beat him up for just using the word. What does he mean ‘meaningful plans’? I needed to step up my game. The next message left me a little confused.

Tommy:
I am thinking a lot about our conversation regarding my father. I want you to know I will help you find help.

My eyes drift
ed back up to the black-haired, blue-eyed creature next to me and wondered what the hell Tommy’s father did to my beauty.

Tommy:
I miss you so much. I wish you knew how to use your phone. I need to hear from you.

I puke
d a little in my mouth; this guy had it bad for her.

Tommy:
I am going to meet you today for lunch.

I exit
ed it out of her texting and entered my number into her phone, because I could tell she was getting a little agitated. I handed it back to her and sent her a text.

Jason:
Hey

It vibrate
d and she giggled, pretending it was a cough.

Katarina:
Hey, beautiful man.

Jason:
You smell like cake.

Katarina:
Did you know that adding ‘party’ to any word makes it sound better?

She lift
ed a perfect brow and her eyes shifted over to me, and I knew she was truly enjoying herself. She was giddy and I loved this.

Katarina: I’m serious
! Think about it: tea party, office party, pajama party…

Jason:
Did you know ‘sex’ is another word that’s really good in front of or behind other words? Office sex, make-up sex, hot sex, sex party…

She giggle-cough
ed again and I smiled with my small victory.

Katarina:
What about sex change or sexually transmitted disease?

She gaze
d up after I read my text and she watched as I rolled my eyes.

Katarina:
Kat-1, Jason-big fat nothing.

The meeting pause
d momentarily and food was brought in. It was strawberries and, well, nothing else, just hundreds of strawberries. I smiled a shit-eating grin. They were spread out along the long table, and blue eyes looked up at me and she mouthed
, Yummy
. She was driving me insane. Everyone dug into the fresh fruit and Katarina grabbed a plate, taking a bite and savoring it slowly. Oh fuck, her lips were glazed with the sweet juice and I might have moaned a little at the sight.

She glanced
over innocently, but I knew she was fucking with me, and then she handed me her bitten strawberry. I scanned around the table and Brian was the only one eyeing us, so I knew it was safe. I took the strawberry like I was eating her pussy. I ran my tongue over it and nibbled a corner, all while staring her in the eyes. I played a little longer and then plopped the strawberry into my mouth, lifted my chin, and winked as she giggled once more.

“Katarina!”
Brian barked, and she looked over and gave him a what-the-heck stare. He announced to everyone that ‘Katie’ would be finishing the meeting. So, she did. She stood and walked over to the PowerPoint and read off the information, continuing in detail when a question was asked. She never skipped a beat, like she had done it before and had the whole thing memorized. Her skirt hugged her figure tightly; a ruffle at the bottom gave her a youthful appearance, and her shirt was a shiny royal blue that fit her curves, as if, it was measured to fit her body. Her hair was still in a business bun, and her glasses—
damn those glasses
—gave her a sassy and smart look.

I f
ound myself not listening to her words, but picturing things I wanted to do to my childhood principal, my sexy ass principal with glasses just like hers. I was captivated by the elegant bun low on the back of her head, and then my eyes shifted to her lips as the words spilled out and I didn’t hear anything. Her lips were red from the strawberry and full, and I licked mine, because I knew I was probably drooling a little. My eyes skidded down and I watched her slender neck, getting a vision of her collarbone. Her delicate body was so enticing, and I couldn’t understand how anyone here could pay attention to anything she was saying, because she was that distracting. All of her, down to the gray heels with the sexy straps was a tight and tasty treat.
Frickin’ hot as hell, and all mine.
I closed my eyes, because now all I was dying to do was eat
her
strawberry.

The meeting was finally over, thank God. I just wanted to leave this place and be alone with my strong, sexy man. He was all I could think about ever since he told me I was his obsession. He had been mine; it was possible he was before that, but now I wasn’t ashamed to admit. Jason was always on my mind, and it scared me to no end that my world would scare him away and he would be the one to run away screaming. I had never
allowed
myself to be with anyone or be around anyone who had so much control over me by choice, but I felt safe around him. Blake stuck around to talk with me about the final arrangement for the event, and I quickly skimmed over my part.

Father Nickels wa
s happy with my choice of new contractors. He should be; he helped me choose. I smiled at him and he took this as an opportunity to hug me, and all I could think about was,
where is Smith to hide behind?
Jason left once the meeting ended, and I assumed he was ready to take me somewhere not work-related. I said my final goodbyes, and my brother had something to say before I disappeared. I knew it wouldn’t be good, because he had a habit of biting his lips together when he was furious, like I did. He said something about controlling my hormones and sex in the workplace, and I tuned the rest out. As soon as he said ‘sex in the workplace’, it sounded like something I needed to be doing right then, instead of having this silly conversation.

Stepp
ing away from the conference room, Smith nodded at some important people I should’ve been greeting instead of darting to hide in my office, so I grunted and did as the old man wanted, because he was right. I made small talk for a few moments and moved on to the next important investor; he touched my arm when he leaned in to tell me how much I had grown, and my eyes shot toward Smith, pleading him to save me, but he lifted his shoulder in a comical, playful shrug, so I casually flipped him the bird. He laughed loudly, drawing attention from me to him, and I excused myself from the investor, telling him Smith had some great jokes and encouraged him to ask him to share one. He smiled a polite smile and I turned and strolled with him over to Smith, laughing as I heard Smith say, “What? I don’t know any jokes.” I kept on strolling, smiling and thinking,
I love that old man.
