Getting Over It: Sapphire Falls Book Six (3 page)

Anyone could take her zip lining. He didn’t know anyone else who could make her giggle and blush.

She was still standing outside of her front door and Ty realized he’d never been inside her house.

Interesting.

She had laid out ground rules when they’d first started sleeping together—no one in Sapphire Falls could know and they couldn’t act like a couple when he came to Nebraska to visit.

It had been fine with him at first. He’d been focused on having her. Yes, he’d wanted the world to know, but it had been enough that
he
knew.

It was pathetic, but he had been willing to take what she would give him—and not tell the world that he’d won her over, gotten her into his bed, into his
life
—over losing her completely.

Until now.

He was done with all of that.

He’d wanted two things since he was fifteen years old—a gold medal and Hailey Conner.

He’d
almost
gotten both.

Now the gold was no longer a possibility and all of his focus and energy and hopes were on this woman.

She was going to have to get used to it.

“It’s going to take a lot more than that to get rid of me,” he said, moving in close and backing her up against the door. “In high school, you cut me down a lot further and a lot more often and I still stuck around.”

Hailey pressed back against the door, fumbling for the knob behind her. “I was hoping you’d matured since then and would take no for an answer. You and I both know that I can be bitchier if needed.”

“I can’t take no for an answer when I know you want to say yes. And now I’m even more confident I can change your mind,” he said, bracing one hand on the door next to her ear, the other still holding the plate of smashed brownies.

“Oh, really?”

“Yeah, because now I know how to really get to you.”

He dipped his head, intent on kissing her, when she finally got the knob turned on the door. Their weight caused it to swing inward and they both tripped across the threshold.

Ty didn’t give her a chance to catch her balance—figuratively or literally. He let the plate drop to the floor as he cupped her face between his hands, kicked the door shut behind him and turned her to press her against the inside of it.

He leaned in until their mouths were a millimeter apart. “Say yes,” he told her gruffly.

She started to shake her head, but he held her firmly, willing her to look him in the eye.

“Hailey Ann, look at me.”

Finally, she lifted her gaze.

“Ask me to kiss you.”

He loved making her ask for what she wanted. Many a time, he’d made her
beg
. Was it because he had a deeply ingrained competitive streak and huge ego? Maybe. Was it because he was naturally dominant in the bedroom? Probably. Did it go back to high school, when hoity-toity Hailey had walked the halls like a queen? Oh yeah.

But this wasn’t a time for begging.

All he needed was a nice please.

Hailey wet her bottom lip. The one he was sure had
not
trembled earlier. Her gaze moved to his mouth and Ty felt his body tighten and heat.

“Okay, you can kiss me,” she said softly.

Yes
. She would never be
easy
for him, and that was exactly what he wanted.

He shook his head slowly. “I’m not asking permission. This isn’t your mayoral office. You’re already getting ready for the orgasm you know I can give you. But only if you ask nice.”

“All you have to do is speak and I’m on the verge of orgasm, huh?” she scoffed. But the breathlessness in her voice took some of the sarcasm away.

He grinned and stroked his thumb along her jaw. “You’re so conditioned to coming apart for me that you hear my voice, you smell me, you feel my hands on you and you’re about halfway there.”

She rolled her eyes, but her breath caught too.

He knew he was right, and he felt a jolt of adrenaline akin to the feeling he got pulling ahead of the pack on his bike. Excitement and anticipation and arrogance all combined to give him a heady pleasure he would continue to seek out, against all odds.

It was better than any high he could get from any other source.

“Come on, Hailey,” he encouraged huskily. “Ask me to kiss you.”

He bent his knees and put his nose against her neck, breathing deep and relishing the way she seemed to
stop
breathing. He ran his nose up and down, skimming the soft skin of her throat with a barely there touch of his lips.

And finally, he felt her lift her hands and slide her fingers into his hair.

“Ty,” she said, panting softly.

“Say it.” His lips were against the pulse point at the base of her throat that was fluttering fast and hard.

Her head fell back against the door and she arched into him. “Kiss me, Ty, please.”

God, those words…a primal sense of triumph streaked through him and he dropped his hands to her ass, brought her up against him fully, and took her mouth with his.

She dug her fingers into his scalp as he slicked his tongue over her lower lip. She opened to him and he took the kiss to hot and wet and deep in an instant.

The scent of her shampoo and her skin and chocolate combined around him, ratcheting his hunger higher and higher, until he needed so much more than her mouth. He needed all of her. Right now.

He leaned back and stared down at her.

Her eyes were unfocused, her lips pink and glistening.

His cock tightened behind his zipper and he pressed against her instinctively, seeking relief.

She moaned and he couldn’t have stopped if someone had tried to hand him a million dollars.

He reached for the hem of her dress and gathered the skirt in his hands.

She knew exactly what he intended. She lifted her arms over her head to aid him in stripping it off. He tossed the dress over his shoulder and took in the sight before him. It was not new. He’d seen her in various stages of undress many times over the years. Bra, panties and heels were a favorite of his.

But every time, he paused for a moment, stunned. Not by her beauty, though that was undeniable, but by the simple fact that she was here with him, letting him look at her, touch her, know her, understand her and give her pleasure.

He was grateful—
grateful
—every damned time. And it didn’t feel pitiful to admit that. It felt right. He hoped any man making love to the woman of his dreams would feel the same.

He traced a finger along the upper edge of her bra, making goose bumps spring up in his wake. He was also grateful for that—that he could make some of her dreams come true too. He knew he was good at what he did. He was driven by an inner force to be the best at
everything
he did. Word searches, races, seductions. It was all the same for him. And that meant relationships too. Hailey might not know it yet, but he was going to be the best boyfriend ever.

She had no chance of ultimately resisting him.

But he didn’t mind if she tried. Wearing her down would be a pleasure. Again.

In high school, she hadn’t given him the time of day. Now she was in his bed—and his bed alone.

Damn, that felt good.

Silver-medal good.

Now all he needed was to get to that top tier on the podium. So to speak.

“Even two weeks is too long now,” he told her. They usually went even longer in between visits but the two weeks between her last visit to Denver and his trip to Sapphire Falls had been hell. “We’re not doing that anymore.”

“Ty—” she started.

But he leaned in and flicked his tongue along the streak of chocolate frosting he’d left on her cheek after holding the brownies. “I love brownies,” he told her. “But you’re sweeter.”

“Ty,” she said again. But this time it was a breathless near-plea.

“I’m hungry for both,” he said, running his hand through the chocolate frosting and bits of brownie still stuck to his shirt. “And I think I can take care of both cravings at once.”

Before she could protest his obvious intention, he wiped his hand over her stomach.

She gasped. “Ty!”

Then he went to his knees and took a long lick of the frosting smeared above her belly button.

She groaned this time.

“Take your bra off,” he told her, scooping up some of the brownie mess from the plate on floor beside him.

She took a deep breath but reached behind her for the clasp on her bra. A moment later, it gave and the bra slid down her arms. She tossed it to the side.

Her breasts were easily the most perfect he’d ever seen. And he was not ashamed to say he’d seen a few. Hailey’s were full and firm. The tips were the same color her cheeks were when she got really turned-on and they were very sensitive. They were already hard, and Ty knew from experience that just playing with her breasts could get her to the point where one good, firm lick to her clit would send her over the edge.

He lifted a handful of chocolate and wiped it over both breasts, covering the nipples.

She gasped and then groaned again at the contact. Ty brought her forward with his palm on her back and she put her hands on his shoulders, leaning into him. He licked the chocolate from her skin, leaving her nipples until last. He flicked over one, then the other, back and forth until she was squirming and whispering his name. Then he took one in his mouth and sucked slowly, steadily increasing the pressure.

She arched closer, one hand cupping his head, his name growing louder from her lips.

He switched sides, replacing his mouth with his fingers on the now clean side, playing and rolling the tip as he sucked on its twin.

“Yes. God, Ty. Please.”

That’s what he needed to hear. He stood swiftly, slid a hand into her panties and found her hot, wet core. He swirled two fingers over her clit and then into her pussy, pumping deep as he kissed her again.

He teased her for only a minute before circling his thumb over her clit and sending her flying.

She dug her fingers into his neck and cried out his name as her inner muscles clamped on to his fingers and pulsed through her climax.

Still enjoying the fading ripples, he said, “Unzip me, babe.”

Without hesitation, she reached between them, unzipped his jeans, and pulled him free from the cotton and denim confines.

Her hand wrapped around his achingly hard cock was heaven and hell at once.

“Damn, Hailey. I’ve missed your hot little hand.”

She stroked up and down his length, her pressure perfected over three and a half years of the best sex of his life.

“And mouth,” he added.

She gripped him tighter and added a stroke of her thumb over the head as she passed it.

“And pussy,” he said through gritted teeth.

They were both vocal about what they liked and wanted. Hailey let him take the lead, loved it in fact, but that didn’t mean she was shy about what she needed and wanted.

There had always been heat between them. Ty had known early on that their chemistry was off the charts, and that when they came together it would be explosive. What had surprised them both was how well their preferences fit. Ty loved to take charge and make her beg. Hailey loved to be bossed around. In bed, anyway.

For Ty, he knew it came from the part of his personality that had sought out a sport where he could excel and be rewarded as an individual. He’d never been into team sports as much. He loved having the victory all to himself. He liked to be the one on top. And that spilled over into everything else. He liked to be fully in control of what was happening. All praise and glory then went to him. When he was with Hailey—whether they were naked in bed or having lunch at El Ranchero or white-water rafting—he wanted to take up all of her attention and energy, and he wanted to make whatever they were doing the best she’d ever had.

Which was why, stupid as it may be, thinking that she loved visiting because of enchiladas and someone else’s massages bugged the shit out of him.

Sex for Hailey was the opposite, and it fit so perfectly with Ty that it sometimes seemed too good to be true.

She was in charge every day, all day in her normal Sapphire Falls life. So when she came to Denver to be with Ty, she let him take over everything. He decided what they would do and when. He was dominant in the bedroom as well as during their non-bedroom time. And she loved it. She loved not making decisions, not worrying about schedules and reservations. She kicked back and followed his lead.

In everything.

He lifted her against the door and she automatically wrapped her legs around his waist.

He pulled her panties to the side and thrust, burying himself deep with a long, simultaneous groan from each of them.

He rested his forehead against hers, pausing for a breath to appreciate everything about the moment.

They didn’t need to use condoms. Hailey was on the pill and they had been monogamous for three and a half years, and he loved having nothing between them.
