HERBS AND SUPPLEMENTS

Pau d’arco tea can help to combat potential elevation of intestinal yeasts.

Supplement with probiotics. These can help to repopulate the gut with good bacteria and reduce fungal growth.

Biotin supplements.

Zinc supplements are critical, as dandruff sufferers usually test deficient.

EXTRA TIPS

To improve the bacterial balance of the scalp, rub in plain yogurt after washing and rinsing hair. Leave the yogurt on for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Rinsing with warm rosemary tea is also beneficial.

Prior to hair washing, pour two capfuls of flax oil over your head and massage gently.

Use neem or tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner. Both of these have antifungal properties. Alternate between the two. Rinse with one cup of cider vinegar and 10 drops of peppermint oil.

DEPRESSION

Depression can manifest itself in many ways: lack of motivation; no pleasure in daily life; feeling low; a deep sadness; despondency; no interest in doing anything; not inspired by anything, mood-swings, crying, lack of self-esteem, no interest in food, self-blame for all kinds of things. There’s also a seasonal depression that affects some people due to lack of sunlight, which is referred to as SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder).

CAUSES MAY INCLUDE

Liver stagnation.

Food sensitivities.

Vitamin deficiencies, especially the Bs.

Hereditary factors.

Personal loss or bereavement.
