Guardian of My Soul (4 page)

Kyle had seen her face down wizards and situations that
would have any other sane wizard or witch fleeing in terror. The witch knew no
fear and he could only stand by her side, protect her back and follow in her
wake. No one was as powerful or fearsome to his mind as Sally Bowry. Nor could
he ever love or trust another witch as he did her.

Sally had saved his life innumerable times, and he in turn
had brought her back from the brink. To his mind the bond they shared was not
just unique, but everlasting. And still he desired her with a thirst that would
not cease and he knew even if they never were anything except friends he would
love her until his dying day.

She was everything to him.

Eyelashes fluttered and slowly Sally’s eyes opened. Her gaze
appeared silver-blue in the pale moonlight, deep, insightful and full of
mystery. He smiled tenderly at her and continued to stroke her fringe back, the
tendrils of her hair soft and silky as the moonlight itself.

“Are you okay, Sal?” he asked huskily, still concerned about
whatever had brought her to his home. Sally grimaced but nodded.

“I’m fine,” she reassured him. “I had a particularly nasty
dream that wouldn’t leave. I kept my word, but didn’t want to disturb you.”

Kyle snorted and let his fingers graze down the satin smooth
expanse of her cheek.

“I should have known to be more specific with my oath,” Kyle
chuckled. Sally slowly sat up and Kyle knew he could not bear to go back to
being only friends and partners with this witch. He sat next to her on the
couch, their thighs pressed intimately together.

“Will talking the dream out help?” he asked soothingly, “or
would you prefer to just get some more rest?”

Sally seemed almost embarrassed as she shrugged and Kyle
knew not to press. In the clear light of the sun and day she might feel less
insecure. If she didn’t need to share the dream she wouldn’t. He wasn’t going
to push her in either direction. Sally’s back remained ramrod straight as she
sat next to him on the couch and Kyle wondered after all their years of
friendship how he could best ease into the change he desired between them.

Slowly he wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Sally froze
for a moment though she didn’t pull away. Kyle remained silent and still,
waiting for her to make her mind up. When Sally leaned into the warmth and
strength of his chest he felt a thrill sear though him unlike anything he had
previously experienced.

“Oh Sal,” he said huskily, his voice thick with need,
arousal and joy. “Why don’t you come up to bed?”

She turned into him, then tilted her head back so she could
look at his face. Kyle met her gaze and let her look her fill. He didn’t know
what she sought but he hoped she would find it and not shut this blossoming new
experience between them.

“You’ve never invited me up to your loft,” she replied
softly. Kyle smiled and pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek.

“I wanted the first time you saw it to be
our
first
time. The first real time we were together,” he explained. “I’ve wanted this
for so long, but you’ve always needed your space and I haven’t wanted to
impinge on that. I don’t think I can hold back any more though, love. I need
you.”

“I need you too,” she whispered back as her arms wrapped
around his neck. “I’ve wanted you for so very long.”

Kyle dipped a hand underneath her thighs, lifting her body
and cradling her against his chest. With a small grunt from the effort he
levered himself upward, bringing Sally up with him. She clung sweetly to his
chest, her arms wrapped around his neck.

Kyle loved the feel of Sally’s skin as it grazed softly over
his mostly naked body. Her arms were warm, the slender muscles strong. At first
glance her body appeared almost too skinny, but she was built on lithe lines.

Shifting her in his arms, he enjoyed the feel of her pressed
tightly against his body. Her head fit perfectly into the curve of his neck,
her cheek warm against his sensitive skin. Finding a comfortable position with
Sally curled up against his chest, Kyle crossed the living room and made his
way to the loft.

Carrying Sally with little effort he climbed nimbly up to
his bedroom, barely breathing hard with the exertion. Loath to release her,
Kyle let his fingers trace the silky length of her thigh as he stood next to
his bed. Sally lifted her head with a small chuckle, the sensitive area
obviously ticklish.

“You’ve caught me out,” she chortled.

Kyle dipped his head and captured her lips with his, a
heated thrill rushing through his chest and down to his cock at the pleasure
such a simple gesture gave him. Until now the act of kissing her whenever he
pleased was over the invisible line they had drawn. Every now and then, one or
the other of them would brush their lips in a chaste kiss to console or
sympathize, but this hot, intimate kiss broke new ground between them.

The faint, floral scent of violets surrounded him and Kyle’s
cock lengthened beneath his boxer briefs. Sally moaned and he took advantage of
her lips parting. Slickly his tongue dived inside the wet heat of her mouth and
he tangled his tongue around hers. Erotically they toyed and parried with each
other, the taste of her sweetly enticing.

Sally shifted in his hands, her body turning closer toward him,
her hips shifting restlessly. Unable to resist as all his walls and barriers
came crumbling down, Kyle dipped the fingers of one hand beneath her silky
sleeping shorts and found her naked beneath. Her pussy lips were full and warm,
slickly wet with the juices of her desire.

Moaning, Kyle thrust one finger deeply inside her wet
opening. Sally arched in his arms, a pleased groan escaping her lips and
vibrating against his mouth. Thick lust filled her tone and her pleasure was
evident to him. They could read each other clearly, their long years of
friendship and partnership standing in good stead.

“Kyle,” Sally panted, the single word a benediction upon her
lips. Kyle felt as if he could hear her moan his name forever. The tone of her
voice was ambrosia to him.

He climbed up onto the large expanse of his bed and
tenderly, as if she were made of glass and would shatter at any instant, he
lowered her to the softness of his clean sheets. Sally stretched her legs out
and spread them for him. Eagerly, he settled himself between her spread thighs,
his whole attention riveted to the captivating witch beneath him with a wicked
grin.

“Do you know how many nights I have dreamed of this?” he
asked huskily, lust, love and desire thickening his tone and deepening it
noticeably. Sally gazed at him with pale blue eyes, the moonlight turning them
a molten silver. To Kyle it looked almost as if she had captured silver/blue
lightning within her gaze, electric and filled with potent power.

“Every night,” Sally returned with a soft smile. “I can know
this because it’s been the same for me.”

“What took us so long?” Kyle asked rhetorically as he slid
her silky boxers down over her coltish, long legs. He didn’t mean for Sally to
answer him, for he understood very well the complexity of their friendship. As
usual, she took him by surprised and answered with sober sincerity.

“I couldn’t bear to lose your friendship after everything we’ve
been through,” she responded seriously. Kyle finished removing her large, soft
sleep shirt and stared at the slender perfection of her body. Her breasts were
a perfect handful, her torso slim but firm, as ass a sweetly rounded, pertly
feminine icing on the cake.

“You will never lose me,” Kyle insisted huskily. “I will
always follow you, even when we are old, gray and decrepit. When we’re a
hundred and ten and going out for the morning paper and you go on one of your
mad sprees, saving some abducted idiot child or defending a homeless street
beggar against a band of thieves I will always be by your side to guard your
back and help you in whatever mad plan you have concocted.”

Sally laughed, a light, joyous sound he never grew tired of.
For years after her descent into the darker arts she had not cracked a smile,
let alone laughed genuinely. Kyle had missed the sound as much as he would have
missed having oxygen to breathe. He had never again taken her joy for granted
since those days.

“You will never let me live down being caught unaware by
that hustler in our youth, will you?” she teased him impishly.

Kyle grinned. In their first year of training together Sally
had snuck out for a coffee and been taken by surprise and nearly assaulted by a
desperate beggar. Kyle, who had needed a fresh packet of cigarettes and
followed by chance had helped contain the man without causing him harm. It had
become a long standing joke between them ever since.

Spreading Sally’s legs widely Kyle lowered himself between
her. The heat radiating out from her pussy, the enticing scent of her desire
and the clear arousal she didn’t hide from him all conspired to build up his
own erotic torment. Dipping his head he licked his tongue out along the seam of
her pussy, her lips moist, her flesh plump and delicately tinged red with her
passion.

She tasted like the most intoxicating, addictive ambrosia he
had ever experienced.

“I’ve loved you since all the way back then,” he replied
honestly, pleased to see the surprise light in her gaze as his words rocked her
to her core. “I know everything there is to know about you, Sal, and I couldn’t
love you more even if you cast a spell upon me. I’ll follow you into death and
through to the other side. I trust no one as I do you and if I can’t have you
by my side and guarding my back, then I’ll follow wherever you lead.”

“Kyle,” she murmured softly in response. Her hands reached
out and threaded gently through his hair. Kyle mumbled, enjoying the feel of
her touch on him. Her fingers were gentle, delicate, but the strength and power
inherent in her whole body thrilled him. She might look broken, brittle or as
if a strong wind would knock her down, but Kyle knew better. She was as tough
as cast steel and ten times as durable.

“You deserve someone whole,” she replied softly. Kyle could
hear the tears in her voice, emotion which she sought to save him from but
nearly ten years together and he knew better. “I walk such a delicate balance.
One day I know I will succumb and I will not take you with me. I’m nowhere near
as strong as you give me credit for and—”

Kyle lifted his body, aligned his pelvis with hers, pressed
their naked chests together and captured her lips fiercely to break off her
words before she could finish what she began. He kissed her with every ounce of
passion, love and desire that he had held back in all their years together.
Kyle poured himself into the kiss and pressed all his magic, love, lust and
passion into her body as if she were an empty vessel he needed to fill to
overflowing.

Both their breathing was ragged as he pulled back. The sheer
force of their mutual passion burned now between them.

“One day you will finally see yourself as I do,” he insisted
strongly. “We are perfectly suited, made for each other. No one can measure up
to you in my eyes, and I am nothing like the white hero of a knight you seem to
think of me as. I have even more darkness inside me than you could imagine,
love. And for the millionth time, you saved me, far more than I ever rescued
you. I love you with all my heart and soul, can you return that to me?”

Kyle’s gaze bored into her. He knew she loved him, had known
it for years. Despite that he had always respected the line she had drawn in
the sand after her descent into the black magics. Now they had both crossed
over, however, he needed to be certain she was with him on this. Kyle would
never cause harm to Sally, even if it meant stepping back now and reverting
back to being merely her partner and friend. He needed her to realize though
that this had changed them and deep in his soul he needed her to be with him on
this.

The smile that blossomed over Sally’s face had his heart
once more pounding a furious pace in his chest. Her face lightened, looked much
like the seventeen-year-old youth he had shyly asked to sit next to in the
first training class they had shared together all those years ago. With her
hair splayed out over his pillow, white gold in the soft moonlight, her eyes
deep and unfathomable, filled with an electric, feminine power and silver-blue
and her skin almost glowing pale white she looked even more beautiful than he
could ever have imagined.

She was his witch and perfect in every way.

She was his.

“You’ve always held my heart, Kyle,” she breathed back
huskily, her tone thick with the force of her emotions. “You’re the Guardian of
my soul and keeper of my heart. I’ll love you well beyond my death and into
whatever follows. I want to feel you inside me, filling all those gaps and
holes that torment me.”

Kyle wrapped a hand around her shoulder and the other around
her hip, canting her pelvis up into him so he could press his aching cock
against her moist heat. Their lips fused together as if they would never part
again. Passion and heat exploded between them and Kyle could feel the small
hairs on his arms lift with the electricity of their joined magic.

They shared an unending kiss, their magical essences
reaching out as if to touch each other so nothing could stand between them.
Kyle released Sally’s shoulder and cupped her breast, his thumb grazed
erotically over her nipple, the small bud peaking with arousal. Her back arched
as she moaned her approval. One leg wrapped around his waist and her hands
eagerly tugged the soft cotton of his boxer briefs down over his hips so he
could wriggle free of them.

With her body opened erotically to him, he released the hand
on her hip and dipped his fingers once more into her wet heat. His fingers
shook only slightly as he collected her juices and stroked his slick thumb over
her clit. Sally’s head fell back onto the pillow, her lips parting as she cried
out in ecstasy. Spurred on by her intimate embrace of him and the deepening of
their relationship Kyle stroked her clit more firmly as he caressed her breast
with his other hand and ate at her mouth.
