Guardian of My Soul (6 page)

Despite her giving in to the temptation of darker powers,
Sally had always retained a simple form of purity Kyle had long envied. Without
a cynical bone in her body Sally tended to have a deep and abiding faith that
everything would work out as it should. Kyle had never been able to lay claim
to that sort of belief. Somehow, regardless of the corrupting influence she’d
been exposed to, Sally had come back changed, yes, but still with this inherent
faith in the balance of justice and the unchanging force of the universe.

When Kyle had followed Sally into the darkness, helped lead
her back into the real world and out of the labyrinth of her own powers he,
too, had returned changed. Unlike Sally it was not something externally
visible. He had only lost a few hours from his journey, something to be
grateful for, but the stain it had left upon his soul and magic was not
something he could change. Should he somehow be given the choice to make again,
however, he would not alter his actions.

Kyle had been willing to pay any price to save Sally. Had he
needed to barter his soul he would have, eagerly. A few tarnishes upon his
essence was something he wore privately and secretly without any regret. Just
as Kyle had seen Sally laid bare, so too did he understand she would have seen
him as he truly was. He hoped her view of him had not changed.

If anything he felt vindicated in his assessment of Sally.
Her optimistic lightness outweighed the demons within her. He’d been telling
her this for years, now maybe he could convince her of the fact.

Sally murmured softly in her sleep as her legs shifted restlessly.
Decadent, wicked thoughts filled his mind and Kyle gazed down at his partner.
Her face had softened in sleep, a faint smile tilting the corners of her lips
upward, her full lower lip just begging to be nibbled and suckled.

Kyle cast a quick look at his clock. They would have to rise
and continue their mission very soon and so any hesitation he had in waking his
witch evaporated. Dipping his head he kissed her tenderly. Still asleep she
nevertheless reciprocated the intimacy.

Growing more bold, Kyle nudged one of his thighs between her
legs. She parted willingly for him, her eyes still closed as sleep lost its
grasp on her.

“Kyle,” she sighed, still not appearing fully conscious.

His morning erection hardened from a faint, detached
interest into an overpowering
need
. He craved Sally. Lowering his head
he opened his mouth to suckle one pert breast. Her nipple hardened instantly
and he tugged on it before laving his tongue over the tender peak.

Slender fingers scraped through his hair and Kyle tilted his
face, staring up at Sally’s without removing his mouth. She looked down at him,
a naughty twinkle in her clear blue eyes. He murmured incoherently, unable to
speak with her breast in his mouth.

“Mmmm,” she agreed as if he had spoken. “Yes, this is a
delicious way to wake up.”

Kyle chuckled but continued to suckle her and toy her nipple
with his tongue. Without any warning Sally turned them. She pressed his
shoulders back into his mattress and straddled his waist. She remained bending
over him so their connection was not broken. The vision of her above him was
intoxicating. Her sleek body looked delicious in the full light of day.

Silently Sally lifted her hips and Kyle watched,
breathlessly, as she circled one small hand around his root. She tilted him toward
the damp entrance to her cunt and without hesitating she lowered her body onto
his erection. Kyle moaned as Sally arched her back, her breast released from
his mouth.

Pleasure seared through Kyle like a bolt of heated
lightning. His thick cock buried deeply into Sally’s wet, tight heat and he
felt as if he had been encompassed by a slick vise. Need pulsed within him, but
this time he felt the strong urge for them to both take their time and explore each
other. Sally lifted and rose above him, a vision unlike anything he could have
described.

Her back and neck arched in pleasure, pale blonde tresses
spilling down her back as her body moved in a slow, sensual beat as she rocked
over him. Up and down he watched her move, fucking herself on his cock.

“Circe, you’re divine,” Kyle breathed, his eyes wide as he
watched her every move. Sally looked down at him, delight shining in her soft
eyes. She licked her lips, her gaze roaming hungrily over his body. Her eyes
didn’t flicker at his scars or the healed wounds over his chest or arms and
this spurred his confidence on.

“Ride me, baby,” he pleaded hoarsely. “Pleasure yourself and
take it all.”

As if she had merely been waiting for his approval—which
knowing his witch, she hadn’t been—Sally moved faster. Her strokes became more
sure, her possession of his body boldly confidant. Kyle’s legs shook from the
force of his quickly growing passion. He lifted his hands to cup her breasts,
delighting in his freedom now to be able to do so.

Sally moved again, thrust her breasts farther into his
hands. Her eyes glinted wickedly and he knew she understood what it was she
brought out in him. Kyle kneaded her breasts firmly, toying with her erect
nibble with his thumb and forefinger. Sally moaned and bent over him. She
braced herself with her hands on his shoulders. And still they moved together
in tandem, he thrusting his hard prick deeply into her wet pussy.

Long tresses of hair fell around his face, Sally’s locks
creating a thin curtain between the two of them and the outside world. For a
wild moment Kyle could believe there was only the two of them, nothing and no
one else.

Slender, warm hands wrapped around his. Kyle greedily drank
in the sight of Sally cupping her breasts over his own hands. His skin was
faintly tanned, noticeable only against the pale perfection of her own skin.
His hands looked rough, calloused from decades of wielding weapons and using
his hands themselves against those who would harm anyone under his protection.

Fire was the main aggressive magic he could use and even
though it didn’t burn his hands in the literal sense, the expenditure of energy
left its mark. Kyle moved his fingers back so they linked with Sally’s, both of
them now cupping her soft, sensitive breasts. Sally moaned and then with a
naughty little smirk she lifted his hands above his head in the classic sign of
submission.

Surprised for a brief second, Kyle couldn’t help but grin in
return to the obvious pride Sally felt. Looking very pleased with herself she
began to ride him harder and faster, the friction of her clenching walls nearly
causing his brain to explode. Leaning over him, pressing her hands down on his
their fingers twined together and he closed their hands into two fists.

Arching his body up higher into hers, he thrust deeply into
her body, claiming her and wanting desperately to brand her soul as his. They
both panted loudly, beyond words as they each climbed toward their respective
pinnacles. Unused to being taken, his hands raised above his head Kyle watched
in adoration as Sally rode him hard, her face straining and sweating faintly
with the exertion of riding him hard. Her eyes glowed brilliantly and Kyle felt
his magic rise within him to match hers thrust for thrust.

Power rose sharply in his hands, his fingers tingling hotly
with the expenditure of his energy. His breath surged, his heart pounding
furiously within his chest as his body tightened in preparation for his
release.

Finally, unable to hold himself back, Kyle flipped them both
easily. He could have broken Sally’s hold at any time, but she had appeared so
pleased and proud of her accomplishment he had not wanted to spoil her moment.
Now, however, he needed to press as deeply within her as possible, possess her
fully.

Lifting her legs over his shoulders, Kyle thrust
deeply
inside. His cock rubbed along her sensitive spot and she cried out with the
pleasure. Kyle pressed their still linked hands to her hips, angling her
perfectly so he could slide out and then back in again with blurring speed.
Over and over he penetrated fully inside Sally until he felt her magic blow
wide open and she once again screamed her release.

Hot energy washed over him, the silver bright electricity
that was the essential heart and soul of Sally. Her deepest secrets were bared
to him and for the second time he saw her pockets of darkness surrounded fully
by bright, shining light. Yes, his love held black magic still embedded within
her soul, but it was fully encompassed with light and purity.

Kyle had never given up hope for his love, never doubted
Sally’s strength or ability to resist the path she had turned down in her
youth. Last night she had proven him right in every way. Kyle let himself be
bathed in her essence, let her magic rage through him and show him everything
important within his witch’s soul.

Sally released one of her hands from his and cupped his jaw,
their eyes staring intimately into each other’s as she came. Her thumb rubbed
over his lower lip and then she slid its tip into his mouth. He sucked on it
and heat flared within her eyes. With her other hand she lowered it until she
caressed his sac, the faint tingling of her magic still on the edges of her
fingers.

The extra stimulation pushed him over the brink. Kyle’s eyes
fluttered shut as with a hoarse cry he came. His balls felt as though they
detonated, hot seed gushing out of his tip, pouring into her deepest parts.
Urgently he thrust into her pussy, his cum shooting over and over into her as
he filled her.

Kyle felt his magic also crackle out of him, bathing Sally
as hers had done seconds ago to him. He didn’t need to ask her to know whether
she saw every inch of him. He knew.

They shared themselves more intimately than was possible for
humans to comprehend. Kyle continued to penetrate his lover until he emptied
himself of everything he had, body, mind and soul.

Exhausted, he once again collapsed to the side, his cock
sliding partially out of Sally as he fell onto the mattress. Panting for
breath, they both sucked air into their lungs until speech was one more
possible.

“If we keep this up I’ll be dead within the year,” Kyle
joked with a proud smile. Sally chuckled and traced the edges of his jaw. He
smiled tenderly at her, drinking in every expression that crossed her face.
They stared in silence at each other for a minute until he sobered.

Brushing her bangs from her eyes, Kyle tried to not appear
too overprotective as he worded himself carefully.

“Is this case putting too much pressure on you?” he asked,
his concern genuine. “If the memories are coming back too strongly, if it’s too
much for you I need you to be honest with me. I can continue it alone, or we
can hand it off to someone else all together. We owe Hayden and he’s a good
friend, but nothing is more important to me than your peace of mind. If the
nightmares are coming back we can ditch this.”

Sally grinned weakly at him but shook her head firmly.

“The nightmares are never far away,” she replied. Kyle’s
first instinct was to immediately insist they drop the case there and then, but
he realized only a second later that she was being brutally honest with him,
not complaining.

“I think we’ve been offered this as a sort of atonement for
me,” she continued hesitantly, her eyes showing uncertainty. “This is where I
could have ended up, had you not come for me. I need to see this through. A few
nightmares aren’t going to dissuade me.”

“You never would have ended up like this traitor,” Kyle
insisted fiercely, his voice hard with the strength of his conviction. “You
were already on your way back, you chose to return, not wallow in the darkness
and give in to temptation. You’ve paid enough for your youthful misjudgment,
Sally, you don’t need to harm yourself proving something.”

“How can you be so forgiving?” Sally asked. She seemed
caught somewhere between wonder and exasperation. “You know what I did, what I
became. Hell, you’ve seen my soul not five minutes ago. You’ve
experienced
the darkness within me. I’m no saint. I knowingly and willingly walked the path
I chose. I still fight the temptation daily to go back down that track. If you
hadn’t come for me I very well might be dead or worse right now.”

“Don’t talk like that!” Kyle snapped ferociously.

Few things could prick his temper, but the very thought of
Sally hurt, broken, dead or beyond his reach could ignite him quicker than
anything else. He linked his fingers through hers and pulled her tightly
against his body, their naked flesh fused together.

“I don’t ever want to hear you speak of such things again,
Sal, I mean it. I hate it when you’re so hard on yourself. You have to stop
beating yourself up for something that is so far back in the past it’s ancient
history. Do you really want to know what I saw when I looked into your soul
just now?”

Kyle pulled his head back a few inches so they could stare
again into each other’s eyes. He caught her gaze and held it, fiercely watching
her so she could never doubt the sincerity of his every word.

“Yes, I saw darkness, but it was surrounded by light,” he
insited. “Your soul is not the bleak wasteland you seem convinced it is. You have
dark patches encompassed fully by silvery, pure light. You are a good person,
Sally Bowry. You have enough light within your essence for three witches, and I
don’t ever want to hear you state otherwise or there will be consequences. Do
you hear me?”

Once again Sally appeared caught somewhere between laughter
and annoyance. She stared silently into his eyes for a minute or more. Kyle
refused to blink or look away, willing her with every fiber of his being to
hear and see the truth behind his words.

Finally, she nodded, still unable to speak. A part of Kyle
wanted to press her, hear for himself that she believed him, but he knew better
than to press her just now. Sally might appear outwardly to be meek or
biddable, but she had an astonishing streak of stubbornness inside her. If he
pushed, she likely would dig her feet in.
