The guy looked up at him with big brown eyes.
The face of innocence. Only that he knew goddamn well what he was
doing. “I just… Sorry, got overwhelmed. And… it’s a nice cologne.”
He punched Seth’s arm.

“Um, yeah, this is Dom,” Seth said, and
Domenico seized the opportunity to display just how much Seth now
belonged to him.

“I’m his fiancé.”

The whole table went quiet, and Seth looked
at him with eyes wide as saucers. “He’s kidding,” he finally said
with a laugh, never looking away.

Robert knew what to search for though, and
gazed down at Seth’s hand. Domenico smiled, knowing what the fucker
would find there. The rings were even on the right fingers, since
they had their sizes adjusted. Dom pressed a soft kiss to Seth’s
jaw, mentally rolling his eyes at the typical male reluctance to
commit. But what happened, happened.

“No reason to be shy.”

“Domenico,” Seth hissed at him, only causing
more of his friends to laugh. Georgie even clapped. “No, really
guys, it’s not like that. He’s just got a poker face.”

Robert kept staring at Seth’s hand though.
“Oh, God, Seth… What happened to your finger?” He grabbed Seth’s
hand and pulled it up to have a better look, but Domenico was too
focused on his lying partner’s face. The fuck was that? Making him
look silly among all these people? Were Dom any less in control,
Robert’s face would already be bleeding after being smashed into
the table.

“I was kidnapped,” Seth said and did finally
pull his hand out of Robert’s grip. All too fucking
reluctantly.

One of the guys at the table started choking
on his beer.

“Really? What? Oh, my God! Tell us
everything!” Georgie exclaimed and made room for them in the
booth.

“That’s how I met him,” said Domenico,
letting Seth sit between Georgie and himself. He couldn’t stand to
have that fucker Robert touching Seth’s thigh. He smiled at the
other men and went on, “I was there by accident and helped him
flee.”

Seth’s lips parted, as if he wanted to take
Dom’s cock in again, but before he managed to say a thing, Georgie
butted it.

“Oh, that’s so romantic!” He looked at Dom
like a love-struck Chihuahua.

“And dangerous,” Robert muttered, and Dom was
satisfied to see that Seth moved his hand away when Robert tried to
touch it again.

“You don’t think of danger in this kind of
situation,” he said, challenging Robert across the table. “There’s
someone who needs your help, and you either move in and save their
life, or you just ignore it and pretend you haven’t chickened
out.”

Seth took off his jacket and leaned in to
kiss Dom’s lips. “I could have lost a lot more than a finger.”

It was enough to make Dom’s stomach fill with
butterflies. He wanted Seth to never forget what a prize he
got.

“But all these months? What happened?”
Robert’s face tensed up.

“Turned out we come from the same region, so
he went home, and we had time to get to know each other better,”
said Domenico, playing with the hair on Seth’s nape. He needed more
of that admiration in Seth’s eyes. He earned and deserved it.

“It was a hard time. My mom died and all
sorts of shit happened.” Seth sighed and leaned under Dom’s arm for
the protection he needed.

“I’m so sorry to hear that,” Robert said, but
Georgie was already interested in something else.

“You’ve been to Italy? That’s so cool!”

Domenico wanted to roll his eyes. If someone
smacked Georgie’s head with a spoon, they’d probably hear a hollow
sound.

A redheaded, chubby man in a sweatshirt
sighed. “Peter was extremely worried about you. Maybe you should
let him know you’re all right.”

“He knows.” Seth sighed and rubbed his
forehead.

“He’s got a new boyfriend as well. Not as fun
as you though.” Georgie petted Seth’s forearm.

“He must be busy, haven’t seen him in a
while,” said the ginger guy, sipping his beer with a sideways
glance at Seth.

“But he’s safe, and so is Seth,” said
Domenico, deepening his claim on Seth by pulling him to lean
against himself.

“Does anyone know anything about this new
boyfriend of his?” Seth insisted. “You know, I want to know he’s in
good hands.”

“Oh, yeah,” Georgie spoke instantly. “They
work together at the clinic. His name is Zach, and he’s training as
an assistant.”

Domenico frowned. He never really cared to
check what Seth’s former girlfriend did for a living. “Did you two
meet during a prostate exam?” chuckled Domenico.

Seth gave him the glare of death, even though
his friends started laughing. Robert’s big grin suggested he was
imagining Seth bent over the exam table.

“He’s a dentist. And we met at my university
campus,” Seth said through gritted teeth.

“Tell me more. You never talk about him,”
said Dom, moving his gaze to Georgie, who would probably prove to
be a more reliable source of information.

Seth rolled his eyes as Georgie’s face lit up
with a smile. “Oh, Peter’s a nice guy. He loved going on bike rides
with Seth.”

“Aren’t you talkative today,” Seth hissed,
but Domenico’s heart quickened its pace. Seth did look amazing on
his motorbike, dressed in leather and arched on top of the machine
like it was a lover.

“Maybe you could take me for a ride
sometime.”

Seth raised his eyebrows, finally looking
less grumpy. “Maybe I could.”

“Seth is a bit of a reckless driver,” Robert
laughed, poking Seth’s finger.

Dom swallowed, tightening his grip on Seth’s
arm. “If that’s so, maybe I should be the one doing the
driving.”

“Not on my bike.” Seth crossed his arms on
his chest.

“Once we went to this abandoned runway and
drove so fast I thought my heart was gonna stop.” Robert looked at
Seth in awe, successfully making Domenico want to knock his teeth
in. They were surely fake anyway.

“Too bad you’re now banned from riding with
him,” he said, smiling at Robert.

Robert finally looked at Dom, as if it was
the first time he’d noticed him. “I think Seth can make his own
decisions. It’s just a bike, not a sweaty ride in the sheets.” He
rolled his eyes.

“I think someone’s dying for something he
can’t have,” Dom said.

Robert’s face reddened.
Bingo.

“Guys, come on, let’s just talk about
something else, yeah?” Seth nudged Dom under the ribs.

“Peter always said Seth is a fantastic cook,”
Georgie suggested, and to his surprise, Dom discovered he was
starting to like the little wimp. It was like occasionally enjoying
petting your neighbor’s Chihuahua, only to fall asleep next to your
own St. Bernard.

“Seth is amazing. Some of his dishes could
put my own mother to shame,” Dom said, pulling Seth close for a
kiss.

He got it, but it wasn’t as enthusiastic as
he would have wished. “It makes me sound like a wife,” Seth
complained.

“You’re preparing for the role though,
right?” Georgie giggled and pulled Seth’s hand up by the ring
finger. “Marriage and all.”

“There will be no wives in this
relationship,” said Domenico, mentally groaning over the very
existence of Lucrezia. They had to get rid of her somehow because
Seth wouldn’t have his peace until then.

“Really? You’re gonna stereotype me like that
because I cook?” Seth raised his eyebrows at Georgie.

“Oh, Seth, I’m just kidding, I know you’re a
big butch top. You even have a new scar to prove it.” He laughed
and pointed to the scar on Seth’s arm.

Domenico leaned in and kissed the healed
wound. “He wants to say that our relationship is nothing like you
imagine it,” he said, grinning at Georgie.

Sour-face-Robert butted in. “Oh, Seth, what
happened to you?” He tried to lean closer over Georgie, but it was
no use. Served him right.

“Ah, that’s just… Blah, it’s nothing.”

“It’s a memory of the kidnapping,” said
Domenico, gently urging Seth to turn his face toward him. He wanted
to look into his eyes, and make Seth remember how he dealt with
shit that night. The moment their eyes met, Seth’s became hazy, and
he brushed his lips against Dom’s.

“So what exactly happened?” the ginger guy
asked.

“They thought I was someone else, held me for
two weeks.” Seth squeezed Dom’s hand under the table, and the
amount of pride it poured into Dom was immense. He bent, pressed a
kiss to Seth’s hand, and cradled it against his chest.

“He’s like a rock though.”

“They cut off my finger,” Seth said with a
grim expression on his face. One that would make
Seth
the
funeral director in their relationship.

“That’s so horrible…” Robert reached out over
Georgie’s lap and stroked Seth’s forearm.

“But he’s tough, just like a man should be.”
Domenico kissed Seth again, but his eyes were fixed on Robert’s
fingers rubbing the hair on Seth’s forearm like little disgusting
spiders. It made him want to buy antiseptic wipes.

His declaration made the table quiet down a
bit, but he ignored it, never stopping to pull Seth’s attention
away from his ex-fuck.

“You wanna get me a beer?” Seth asked with
one more smooch. The soft, warm lips did something strange to Dom’s
stomach, but he chose to ignore it and nodded.

“What kind would you like?”

Seth’s smile widened. “Anything you
choose.”

“All right.” He got up with as much grace as
possible and grinned at the other men. “What about you, guys?
Anything you’d like? It’s on me.”

He loved the cross look it got him from
Robert. The other men eagerly ordered shots. As he was walking off
to the bar, he heard them chatting.

“Seth! Your new boyfriend is so cool.”

“That suit is so sharp it could cut my
fingers.”

If this were a movie, he’d be walking off
with his shades on, with an explosion in the background.
Unfortunately, it was too dark in here, and Domenico didn’t want
debris to wreck another suit. The bar wasn’t too crowded, so he
soon returned with a tray of shots, beer, and a Coke for himself,
eyeing Seth with a smile.

“Seth was just saying you work with
antiques?” A long haired man who had sat still so far seemed to
become more attentive now that he got a free drink.

“Yeah, I’m a self-made man,” said Dom,
sitting in his former place and handing the beer to Seth. He took
the one the bartender assured him was the best.

“Is that a euphemism for being an escort or
something?” Robert laughed at his un-funny joke. But Seth, the
traitor, snorted into his beer, spilling some over his jeans.

Domenico’s eyes went wide. It was so absurd
he didn’t know whether he should laugh his head off or slam
Robert’s shitty face into the table. “If it is, you wouldn’t be
able to afford me.”

Seth leaned into Dom and kissed his neck.
“You can only buy him with homemade lemon cupcakes.” He slid his
hand under Dom’s suit jacket and rubbed his side like the happy
husband-to-be that he was.

Robert sighed and slouched in his seat.
Finally. It took him long enough to learn his place. The fucker
should go back to licking his own ass.

“Seth actually brought some lemons from back
home just to make me the proper version. Isn’t he the best fiancé
ever?” Domenico wiggled his eyebrows at Seth, because it was
actually him he was talking to.

He got a shy smile, but in the end Seth
looked away.

“That’s so sweet. Or sour. Since it’s
lemons?” Georgie tried, but no one laughed.

Robert was quick to change the topic. “Are
you coming back to university?” he asked, ignoring Dom’s
presence.

“Oh, right,” said Ginger, leaning in over the
table. “Did you actually inform the university of your
situation?

Seth cleared his throat. “I don’t know if
I’ll be going back. It’s all up in the air right now. I might be
leaving New York any time because my dad keeps pushing me to go
back to Italy.”

“That sucks,” said Ginger, “Is he worried for
you because of that kidnapping thing?”

Domenico glared at him, but chose to say
nothing and watch Seth instead.

“Y-yeah.” Seth took a gulp of beer.

“You shouldn’t give in to pressure like
that,” Rob said.

“At the end of the day, it’s Seth’s decision
what he wants to do. I can live anywhere,” declared Domenico,
enjoying his lover’s hand, which was still resting on his
torso.

“I might finish school in Palermo.” Seth
looked up at him with a smile and leaned closer, his warmth seeping
into Dom’s skin.

That was it. Domenico was the king of the
world, the most eligible bachelor of the gay underworld, and the
future husband of one Seth Villani, who looked at Dom with so much
tenderness everyone could see there was no other man for him. Seth
didn’t really need any of these people at all.

“So, you’re looking for a job now?” asked
Georgie.

Seth looked back at him and pulled away from
Dom with a silly expression, lips parted like a fish. “I-I was,
like, recovering and stuff…” he uttered and Dom hoped he wouldn’t
now come up with some guilty idea that he needed a job.

“Come on, Seth,” Ginger laughed. “You can’t
live off daddy’s money, you’re twenty-six.”

Domenico cringed. The hell was this guy
thinking? “I think anyone would need some time to get over such a
traumatic experience. Seth will know himself when the time is
right.”

He knew he said the magic words when he saw
Seth smile back at him. “Yeah, I’ll sort something out in the
future. For now, let’s go dancing?” He finished off his beer in one
gulp.

Domenico chuckled. “You mean actual dancing,
or those pelvic movements they make in the clubs?”

“Yeah, the funny movements.” Seth snorted and
already got up. “I won’t force you, you know.”

Domenico wanted to say no, but then he
noticed Rob’s body becoming all tense in anticipation, which sealed
the matter. He did not want to move like an ape in public, but he’d
do it just to piss off the bastard.
