“You're
sure it isn't coming back?” Kayla’s hands were still clutching Jay’s shoulders,
his arms wrapped protectively around her as they tread water.
“Well,
ah, no not really. There's no saying if it will. But I'm sure it's not going to
hurt you. The only time they ever cause problems is for spearfishers, and
that's not us. OK? I promise you're going to be fine, whether it comes back or
not.” He smiled at her reassuringly.
“Fine
then, Mr Marine Biology. I guess I'd better take your word on it. But that
thing looked mean and hungry to me, OK?”
“Trust
me, I have no desire to go anywhere the nasty sharks are. We're in shallow
water, surrounded by reef. We're OK.”
Kayla
felt her heart rate start to come back down. As her senses started to work
again, she suddenly became aware of how tightly she was pressed against Jay. He
had pulled her closer to ease her panic, and now, despite the lukewarm water,
she could feel the familiar heat building up where his skin touched hers. Jay
gently released her, and she felt a brief stab of disappointment despite
herself.
“Come
on,” he said, pulling on her hand, starting to tow her through the water. “I have
something to make you feel better. It's a secret spot I found a while back.
I've never taken anyone else there before.”
Still
holding hands, they swam together side by side towards the far end of the beach,
where rocky cliffs rose steeply out of the water. As they came closer, she
marvelled at the craggy surface, the unforgiving drop into the ocean.
“How
long can you hold your breath for?” Jay broke into her thoughts.
“Um, an
average amount of time I suppose? I've never really timed myself.”
“Trust
me, just about anyone can do this. You just have to stay calm, and stay close.”
Kayla
felt anything but calm. She wasn't entirely sure what was being asked of her.
But she didn't want to come across as a scaredy-cat, especially so soon after
panicking about an apparently harmless shark. She pasted a smile on her face
and nodded quickly. Jay gave her hand a light squeeze.
“Deep
breath, and don't let go of my hand.”
They
ducked their heads under the water together, and the movement revealed to Kayla
what they were aiming for. Just under the surface of the water was a hidden
tunnel, leading into the cliff. The entrance was worn smooth from centuries of
ocean currents gradually wearing it down.
Jay
kicked out strongly, pulling her into the darkness. The tunnel must have been
taller than it looked, as a small sliver of light was coming from somewhere
above. Kayla could see the patterns it cast on the sand below them.
Her
lungs started to burn. How much longer? If she ran out of breath now, she
probably wouldn't have time to turn around and head for the tunnel's entrance.
She tried to remember his advice. Stay calm, stay close. Stay calm, stay close.
She repeated it to herself like a mantra. The need to breathe started to build,
more urgent in her chest.
Finally,
just as she was nearing her limit, Jay kicked for the surface, pulling her with
him. Kayla gasped for air, sucking it deep into her lungs. It took a moment to
register that she was inside a tall cavern. Rocky walls rose far above to what
must have been the top of the cliff.
A small
gap far above them let in a glimmer of light. It bounced off the surface of the
seawater, throwing reflections onto the walls of the cave. It gave the space a
magical and somewhat eerie feel. Kayla stepped out of the water onto the small
sandy beach within the cave and stared around her, taking it all in.
“So?”
Jay was trying to play it cool, but she could tell he was anxious to see if she
liked it.
“It's
amazing,” she breathed. “It's like a little sanctuary, where nobody will find
us. It's just ours.”
He
smiled, clearly pleased, then took two steps forward to close the space between
them. He brought his face close to hers, his eyes raking over her.
“You
know, I kind of liked rescuing the damsel in distress. Getting to be the hero
when there's no actual danger may be the best time to be a hero.”
“There
might have been danger! It was a shark! We're genetically programmed to fear
those things, don't blame me for having a properly functioning biological
response telling me to escape a predator.”
“I bet
you weren't even scared at all,” he smirked. “You just wanted a chance to throw
yourself at me. You can't treat me like a piece of meat, you know.”
“Oh,
can't I?” Kayla swiftly closed the small gap between them, rising onto her tip
toes to kiss him. Adrenaline was still coursing through her body, and the kiss
was harder than she intended. She could taste the faint metallic tang of blood.
Jay
wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her body hard against his.
“Oh,
you want to play, do you?” He murmured into her mouth. In one swift motion he
scooped her up, and tumbled her onto the talcum-soft sand. His mouth was
everywhere, kissing her salty body. His lips burned down her neck, across her
clavicles, between her breasts.
Jay
paused and glanced up at her, a questioning look in his eyes as he reached for
the string holding her bikini top in place. Without a second thought she arched
her back, making it easier for him to reach. He quickly tugged the knot loose
and flipped the bikini to the side, exposing her pale breasts.
“You
have the sexiest body,” he groaned. He swiftly brought his mouth down over her
nipple, alternating between sucking and gently nipping it between his teeth.
His hand reached up to tease her other breast, cupping it, running his thumb
over the peak. Kayla's back arched again, pushing her breasts further into his
mouth, and she whimpered as need started taking over her senses.
Jay
continued his scorching assault down her body, kissing across her stomach,
occasionally making her gasp as he raked his teeth across sensitive areas. He
reached for the tie on her bikini bottoms, again glancing up questioningly at
her. Kayla hesitated, unsure.
In a
flash he was back up beside her. “It's OK, we'll take this whatever pace you
want to. I'm just finding it a little hard to control myself around you. But
you're calling the shots, OK?” Jay bent his head to kiss her again, more gently
this time, clearing fighting to hold himself back.
Kayla
couldn't help herself. She reached for his head, burying her fingers in his
hair, deepening the kiss as their tongues tangled. She pushed her body against
his, and could feel how much he wanted her. It thrilled her, sending ripples of
electricity through her body.
“Do
it,” she whispered. “Do whatever you want.”
Jay
kissed his way back down her body, leaving what felt like a trail of fire
wherever he touched. Kayla could feel warmth radiating from between her legs.
She wanted him. She'd never wanted anyone so badly before.
In one
swift motion, her bikini bottoms were untied and cast to the side. Kayla was
naked and vulnerable on the cave's beach. The water lapped gently against her
toes, adding to the sensations taking over her body.
Jay
snaked one hand up to caress her breast again, and trailed kisses down the
inside of her thighs. Without warning, she felt his hot breath at the opening
of her womanhood. His tongue flickered across her, making Kayla gasp with
pleasure. At the sound, he grasped her breast harder, gently pinching her
nipple. Her hands clenched into fists as a tension and need for release started
to overwhelm her.
Jay
slid his free hand between her legs, rolling his thumb over her clit. He
dropped his head lower, plunging his tongue into her. Kayla arched again,
unable to control herself, moaning loudly. The sound seemed to goad him to
further heights, his mouth setting a punishing pace, pushing her body higher
and higher towards ecstasy. His hands slid across her body, stroking her,
teasing her, learning every inch of her. She knew it wouldn't take long now.
Jay
raked his hand lightly across her chest, and brought his head up to suck hard on
her clit. Kayla couldn't hold back any longer. She exploded into orgasm, the
waves taking over her body as she cried out his name. Shuddering, she fell back
onto the soft sand, her chest heaving as she caught her breath.
Jay
pulled himself up next to her and scooped Kayla into his arms. They lay still, her
head on his chest, feeling the warmth of each other's bodies. A few minutes
ticked by before Kayla peeked up at him. Her gaze was met by a wide smirk.
“So, is
the lady satisfied?”
“It was
OK, I guess,” Kayla shrugged.
“Excuse
me? It was OK, was it? Well frankly, my tongue is exhausted. If that was just OK
then I'm not going to bother a second time.”
“No!”
She squealed, despite herself. “Fine, it was amazing, mind blowing, you're very
talented, please do that again whenever you feel like it.”
“Humph,”
he huffed. “Well I'll have to see. My ego is wounded.”
“Aww,”
Kayla giggled. “Poor wounded ego. I do hope you'll do it again. It would be a
shame to waste such a magic tongue, that's capable conquering a girl despite
her best attempts to resist.”
“Conquered
you, did I?” He mused. “Well, this is getting better all the time. I see that
sulking is the way to get the compliments I want. I'll keep that in mind.
“I
don't know about you though,” he continued. “But I'm starving after that little
workout. Do you still want to see the boat?”
Kayla
smiled. “Does that mean you're feeding me? I'm starving, too. You have a way of
helping a girl work up quite the appetite.
Jay
smirked again. “Well, we'll have to sort that out. I don't think I'm done with
you quite yet.”
Kayla
blushed, and grabbed for her bikini bottoms, quickly tying them into place. She
looked up to see Jay holding the top half. He motioned for her to turn around,
and she pulled her hair out of the way while he tied the scraps of material
into place for her.
The drive
back to Honolulu seemed to take longer than it had on the way out to the beach.
Kayla was fizzing with nervous energy, unsure of what was happening next. After
what felt like an eternity, they finally pulled up to the harbour.
Expensive-looking boats wallowed in the water.
Jay
grabbed her hand and led her down the dock, stopping in front of an enormous
boat.
“I'm
sorry, is that...? Is that a yacht? You said you lived on a boat, not a yacht!”
“Well,
technically a yacht
is
a boat,” he grinned at her.
“Yes,
but... You said you take this out sometimes. By yourself? How?”
Jay
shook his head. “Only when I've got friends with me who know about boats. I
always have company on trips out to sea. When it's in the harbour though, it's
mine and mine alone.”
Kayla
followed him up the ramp and onto the boat's deck. Bench seating lined the
sides, with plump cushions in neutral tones. Sliding mirrored glass doors
opened into a living room with thick rugs and overstuffed couches. On one side
of the room was a gleaming kitchen, all stainless steel and light wood. Towards
the back of the space were two wooden doors. She guessed one of them must be
the bedroom. A shiver of excitement ran through her at the thought of it.
The
boat was clearly designed as a luxurious escape from reality. The only nod to
technology was a state of the art sound system. There were no computers or TVs
to be seen, but a groaning bookshelf took up one of the interior walls. Kayla
couldn't believe how much space there was. She didn't know much about boats,
but from the size alone this one had to be worth millions.
“Are
you sure the owner doesn't mind you bringing guests around?”
“He's
fine. He's barely ever in Hawaii. He has getaways all over the world. Someone
has to look after the stuff, keep the boat in good order. As long as I do that,
he doesn't notice anything else.”
Kayla
nodded mutely. She wasn't used to being around such opulent luxury. Jay clearly
felt quite at home though, leading her over to the kitchen, where he started rummaging
through the fridge.
“I'll
make us something to eat. How much of an appetite did you work up? Does tuna
steak with greens sound OK?”
Kayla
realised she was ravenous, and nodded again. Jay busied himself in the kitchen
while she perched on one of the barstools at the breakfast bar, glancing
nervously around the inside of the yacht. She was scared of breaking something.
Clearly she wouldn't be able to afford to replace it if she did.
“Cat
got your tongue?” Jay smiled at her. “If only I'd known it was this easy to
shut you up, I could have saved myself a lot of grief before now!”
Kayla
laughed for the first time since setting eyes on the boat.
“Leave
me alone! I've never been around money like this before.”
“You
get used to it,” Jay shrugged. “There's something nice about living like this,
walking between the raindrops of money, never actually getting wet yourself.
You know, the guy who owns this barely goes to any of his hideaways. He's
working constantly. This place was designed to help him escape, but even when
he's here, he's always on the phone, dealing with problems at the office.”
