His Love (By His Command #10) (2 page)

“Okay,” I said.

Jonathan tucked his gun away and
then looked at me. His back was to Katherine and it meant something to me. It
was something I’d never forget. Katherine dead on the floor, Jonathan facing
me, the one that committed the murder.

“We have to go,” Jonathan said. “We
have to go... and fast...”

“I know,” I whispered. “I never
wanted anything but us.”

That’s when it happened. When it
all came together in a single beautiful moment. Jonathan stepped towards me and
took my face in his hands. He pulled me close and kissed me. Lips to lips,
once, twice. Our lips parted and the kiss became sensual for only a few
seconds.

A romantic kiss.

A real kiss.

The kind that made my heart skip a
beat, my stomach flutter, and yet still made my panties wet.

That was the power of Jonathan
Black.

“Isabella Grace,” he said, “I love
you. I love you for what you’ve done. This is... what you did for me... us...”

“I had to do it,” I said.

“Of course you did,” Jonathan
replied. “But now we have to go.”

Jonathan took my hand and led me from
the bedroom. I wondered what was going to happen, how he was going to put it
all to rest. I had committed the murder, now Jonathan needed to see us to
safety. Not just today but forever.

I trusted him to do it.

But what I didn’t trust... waited
for us... on the couch...

Kellen.

He held a cell phone in his hand,
shaking.

He opened his hand and it dropped
to the floor.

He looked at me.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered.

“Why are you sorry?” Jonathan
asked.

In the distance I thought I heard a
siren.

But that could just be anything...

“I had to do it,” Kellen said. “I
had to call. It’s... murder...”

“What did you do?” I asked Kellen the
same question he had asked me.

“Police,” Kellen whispered. “It’s
murder...”

Jonathan squeezed my hand hard.

The day had just gotten that much
crazier.

The sirens started to grow louder,
confirming that police were on their way. To a murder in the hotel. In the
hotel that Jonathan Black owned. To arrest either myself or Jonathan.

Jonathan looked at me and his eyes
told me everything I needed to know.

As long as Jonathan held my hand, I
trusted everything. Even if we were caught... or I was caught... I’d do it
again. Because a life to live without Katherine in it was a good life to live.

“Kellen,” Jonathan growled.

Kellen looked at him. I saw
Jonathan’s hand move and I could have stopped him, but I didn’t. I was done
with it. I was done helping or protecting anyone right then. The only thing
that burned in my heart was that Jonathan and I could find peace together.

Whatever it took to get there.

Kellen had betrayed Jonathan enough
times and now he had in so many ways betrayed me. His heart was lost and
lonely, something I perhaps should have felt bad for.

Jonathan took the gun out of his
jacket and I turned my head.

I couldn’t watch it. However, I
could listen to it.

And I did.

A single gunshot.

Just like that.

“Come on,” Jonathan said and he
took me from the room.

We rushed to the elevator and
Jonathan skipped it. The steps were safer, something I already knew. It wouldn’t
be the first time we’d have to escape a murder scene. This one was much
different though. This one was called in. The police were coming. The stakes
were greater than ever.

We took the steps to our floor and
got to our hotel room. Jonathan began a calm scramble. And yes, with Jonathan
Black, that did exist.

He found a cell phone and made a
call.

He spoke like he had me speak
before when he was poisoned and almost dying.

“Blue, double, hide,” he said.

He broke the cell phone in half and
threw it across the bedroom. A second later he stopped in front of the mirror
and adjusted his tie. Then he turned to me and put a hand out. I took his hand,
surprised at how calm things had become.

I was breathing heavy as he took me
into his arms.

“Okay,” he whispered. “Isabella
Grace. It’s perfectly okay. Are you ready?”

“Ready... for what?”

Jonathan looked at me. “For the
rest of your life.”

I smiled. “Yes.”

Jonathan kissed me again. The
flicker of his tongue against my lips made my toes curl, but we had no time to
savor the moment or let it grow.

Jonathan opened the top drawer of a
dresser and took out a folder. He put some papers on the bed, making it look
like something messy had happened on the bed. He then left two small envelopes
on the bed after he tucked them under the papers.

“Tickets,” Jonathan said. “They’ll
find these and think I messed up. But I never mess up. I know where I am before
I get there, Isabella Grace.”

We left the bedroom and Jonathan
continued to move around the hotel room. He set things up to make it look like
something bad had happened. I knew what he was doing. Whoever showed up to the
hotel, whoever was put on this murder case, things to keep their minds spinning
and spinning and spinning.

I walked to the large window and
looked out. Two police cars were there, lights flashing.

“Jonathan... they’re here...”

“Yes they are,” Jonathan said, so
calm.

I gasped when I watched everything
unfold.

Two people came charging from the
hotel. They had something over their head, jackets maybe, I wasn’t sure. They
ran at a black car parked out front. The two police cruisers had blocked the
vehicle in. I recognized the vehicle as something Jonathan and I would have
ridden in. The two people hurried into the car and a second later the police
came out of the hotel too. They went after the car as it started to back up,
hitting one of the police cruisers. One of the officers took out a club and
started to swing at the vehicle. The window didn’t shatter. Not even close. The
other officer took out a gun and shot as the black vehicle started to speed
away. Again, nothing happened.

The two officers then got into
their cruisers and started to chase the black car.

Just like that, the police were
away from the hotel and on a high speed chase with...

“It doesn’t matter,” Jonathan
whispered, his warm breath touching my neck.

I gasped and jumped.

I turned around and felt the urge
to cry.

“This is how we fall in love,”
Jonathan said. “Forever.”

He touched my hair. His mind was
working fast, faster than I had ever seen it before. Faster than I’d ever be
able to keep up with.

“We have a small window, let’s
move,” he said.

He took my hand and we left with
nothing.

Literally nothing.

Just each other.

Not that I cared about clothing or
possessions, it was just intense. We skipped the elevator again and walked down
the stairwell. Jonathan had a little more ease in his steps right then. At the
bottom of the steps we went to the back of the hotel, walking through an area
not meant for guests. More police would show up soon and then would come
detectives, reporters, and a whole cast of people wanting to know about the
dead bodies in the room. It would all come crashing back to Jonathan Black and
this time he had nobody to take the fall like his father had.

Jonathan didn’t seem to care one
bit.

We left the hotel and a black car
waited for us outside. A man stood with the backdoor open, black suit, black
sunglasses, much like the men that had helped me before. We got into the car
and it sped off.

I looked at Jonathan but he shook
his head.

“It’s all about movement,” Jonathan
said. “Movement creates confusion. Think faster than everyone else and act
faster. That’s how I built my empire...” Jonathan reached for my hand and
smiled. “And that’s how I’ll protect my next one.”

He put his arm around me and held
me. There were a few minutes of peace between us. The stress of Katherine
officially gone. She couldn’t do anything anymore. No magic cell phones. No
threatening text messages. No attacks.

She was gone.

Dead.

My eyes actually started to feel
heavy. The stress of the morning had caught up to me. After a restless night of
sleep and waking to know I had my small chance to do what I had to do,
everything weighed on me. Just as my eyes started to close, Jonathan leaned
forward.

“Okay, next part.”

I sat up and focused. I looked out
the window and saw the small private jet right next to us. We were literally on
a runway at an airport.

“Is it safe?” I asked.

The last time I was on a private
jet with Jonathan, Katherine had appeared.

“We’re not getting on that,”
Jonathan said. “Just wait and watch.”

The black car came to a stop. Two
men in black suits came running to the car. The front passenger door opened and
once again, two people came out, just like at the hotel. They had their heads
covered and the two men in suits hurried to create the illusion that the two
people were Jonathan Black and me.

That’s when the black car sped up
again.

I looked around and grew nervous. I
could sense something happening.

Something bad.

“Faster,” Jonathan whispered.
“Faster...”

The car sped up. I looked out the
back window and saw the plane already moving. It started to turn, ready to speed
up and eventually take off. In the distance I saw lights. Flashing lights.

The police, detectives, whomever...
they were after us again.

I touched Jonathan’s leg and
squeezed.

“It’s okay. We’re moving...”

The car took a turn too fast. I
crashed into Jonathan and let out a cry. Then we came to a sudden stop. I would
have been thrown forward if Jonathan hadn’t been holding me tight. He opened
the back door on his own and we hurried out of the car. Five feet away waited
another car.

But this one wasn’t black.

This one was... normal.

A regular green car.

A four door car. A family car.
Something that said nothing about money, power, greed, or murder.

Jonathan opened the back door and
pointed. I climbed into the car and he came after me. I sat and Jonathan put an
arm around me and smiled.

“We aren’t sitting,” he whispered.
“We have to get on the floor together.”

“The floor?” I asked.

“Yes... hurry.”

I slithered my way to the floor in
the backseat. It was big but not big enough for two people. Which meant...
Jonathan climbed on me.

He was on top of me when the car
started to move. His body was against mine. He smelled amazing and looked
killer sexy. When he saw the look in my eyes he kissed me.

Jonathan broke the kiss and touched
my cheek.

“Don’t be nervous,” he whispered.

“I’m not,” I said. “At all.”

“We’re going back and they’re going
to come and find the empty car. They’ll stop the plane from taking off too.
Confusion, confusion.”

“Jonathan...”

Jonathan shook his head. His lip
curled for a second. “I’m on top of you...” He thrust at me, letting me feel
him growing in size. I couldn’t believe he could get hard at such a time. Although
it shouldn’t have surprised me. “You know what to call me...”

“Sorry,” I whispered. “Mr. Black.”

“Good girl.”

Jonathan kissed me again, this time
with force and passion. He didn’t let up either. His body was strong, between
his legs hard, his tongue exploring my mouth. I put my hands to his shoulders
and pulled at him, wanting him so bad.

And that’s how we remained,
enthralled with each other as we escaped... together.

When the car finally stopped and
Jonathan climbed off me, I felt paralyzed by erotic need. Watching him move
away from me was torture. He looked around and then smiled.

“We’re here,” he whispered. “Come.
Quick.”

He opened the door and we left the
car.

We were at... another hotel.

Another
hotel?

“Where are we?” I asked.

“Little ways out of the city. Still
plenty to take care of Isabella Grace. Come.”

He took my hand and walked so slow
and so calm. We entered a side door and skipped the stairs. Jonathan walked me
to an elevator and we were suddenly normal. Life was calm. Life was okay. It
was an illusion, and I knew that, but it felt good to be calm for a minute.
Even just to catch my breath before it all started up again.

At the top floor of the hotel -
thirty seven floors up - the elevator stopped and opened. We didn’t step from
the elevator to a hallway. No. We stepped from the elevator into a massive
suite.

My mouth fell open as Jonathan
stepped from the elevator. He turned and smiled, appreciating my shock. The
dominant billionaire still had so many surprises up his sleeve. It was breathtaking.
Literally breathtaking. The entire floor or room or whatever was completely
open. Like a large house. The only rooms that appeared to be separated off were
the bathroom and bedrooms.

“Two bedrooms,” Jonathan said.
“Just in case. But we won’t need it, will we?”

I shook my head as I stepped from
the elevator. “This is... I’m amazed.”

“Of course you are,” Jonathan said.
“Murderous yet still innocent. How can I not fall in love with you?”

The question made me shiver.

Jonathan took my hand and guided me
to the couch. He sat me down and kissed me.

“I need to make a brief call. Time
is still moving forward, Isabella Grace. And since we are part of time, we are
moving forward too. Do you understand that?”

“Yes,” I replied.

Jonathan turned and pulled a cell
phone from his jacket. As he dialed a number, I watched as he placed the gun he
used to kill Kellen with on the kitchen counter. Then he was gone. Something so
subtle was packed with trust. Jonathan trusted me enough to be in the same room
with the gun. I would never hurt him or myself and he knew that. He believed in
that.
