Gavin

Her hands were so tiny but made such a big sound. It hypnotized me as I stood there watching her play.

The depth and beauty of it all captured in her music. I can’t believe she wrote that. It was amazing.

I also noticed that she didn’t have any music in front of her. That entranced me. It takes a lot of strength and knowledge to be able to memorize all that music.

“Are you ready to get out of here?” Sean walks up next to me as I stare at the piano.

“Did you hear that chick play?” Walking back off the stage I point over my shoulder at the piano.

“Yeah, I’m going to see about having her play at the wedding.” Jerking my head to look at him I wonder how the hell he pulled that off.

“What the fuck? Do you know her?” I question him as we walk back through the theater towards the door.

“I got her number. David knows her.” Of course that little uppity shithead knows her.

“Well fuck me.” Shaking my head I push through the front doors.

“What? You didn’t already fuck her did you?” The tone of his voice makes me laugh. Arrogant asshole thinks I have fucked half the city.

“No asshole I didn’t. Her playing just hit me though.” Sean laughs as he stops and looks at me.

“Hit you? As in hit you in the dick? We all know nothing hits you in an emotional kind of way.” Sometimes I wonder if he wasn’t my brother if I would kick his ass. I swear he is the biggest dick I know.

“Fuck off. I’m out of here.” Waving to Sean, I walk down the sidewalk. As chilly as it is outside, I love it. The club that the party is at isn’t far from the theater so I decided to walk over.

Besides, if I had to spend one more minute with Sean I might kick his ass.

The club is alive and loaded with girls when I walk in. Just the way I like it.

“Now this is a fucking party.” I mumble to myself as I make my way inside to find Brad. Spotting him over by the bar, I make a beeline towards him.

“Hey assfuck.” Slapping him on the shoulder he smiles over at me.

“Fuckface! You came.” Brad pulls me into a quick hug before motioning for a beer to the bar tender.

“Hell, after the day I had with Sean I need to drink half this bar.” Brad laughs before passing me a beer.

“Well, it should be fun. Steph’s friend is coming in later to play a little and then we have a DJ. Drink it up, my dad’s paying.” Slapping my shoulder, I chuckle. Brad’s dad is a rich bitch like my mom. That’s how we met.

“Where is Steph? I haven’t seen her in a while, didn’t know she had friends.” Laughing slightly I take a drink of my beer.

“Laney is her best friend. They have been for years. It’s a little weird that you never met her.” Looking around like he’s trying to find her he nods.

“There’s my girl.” I turn as I watch Steph walk over towards us, a huge smile plastered across her face. Steph’s defiantly a beautiful girl. She has shoulder length hair that curls around her little face.

“What are you two doing? Picking up bitches?” Steph throws herself into Brad’s arms making him smile.

“Hey where is Laney? They haven’t met.” Brad pulls Steph into his side.

“She isn’t here yet.” Shaking her head, I smile at her.

“Is she hot?” Steph slaps me before giving me the go to hell look.

“What? I was just asking.” Faking being insulted she laughs.

“She is far from your type, Gavin. She isn’t a hooker.” Steph laughs while I watch her, a slight smile on my face. Brad has his hands full with that one.

Just as I’m about to speak, I hear it. That captivating song rings through the air.

“There she is.” I glance over at Steph as her eyes light up turning towards the stage. Following her gaze my eyes come to rest on the little blonde at the piano.

She changed since I saw her. She’s wearing a long blue dress that dips down her back so low I can see her whole spine. Her brownish blonde hair falls down her back in soft waves as her body moves with her music.

My heart stops when she plays. I’m spellbound by her.

“Pick your mouth up off the floor, Gavin. She has a boyfriend.” Steph pokes me in the chest making me laugh but that isn’t what has me in such a trance. It’s the beauty of how she plays with such a passion.

“She’s amazing.”

Laney

I wasn’t sure I’d make it on time after the little chat with Mr. Hottie before I left the theater so I headed straight here. Good thing I had my dress in the car.

“Laney, you are amazing!” Steph grabs me into a hug when I finished playing the pieces they asked for.

“Thank you babe. You look amazing!” Pulling back I look her over. This girl could rock a sheet, I swear.

“So do you! My god, you need to wear more dresses!” We both giggle as Brad walks over.

“That was just magnificent. I have had so many compliments on your playing. You fucking rocked it.”  I smile at Brad for being so nice. He always has been though.

“Thank you. I’m glad you liked it. Are you stealing my girl?” Noticing that he has people starring him down behind us, I know he needs Steph.

“Just for a few. I promise.” Winking at me I nod as I watch the two of them walk away.

I’m so happy that Steph has a good guy like Brad. He is filthy rich as is his family but he really loves her, you can see it in his eyes.

“Are you going to tell me the name of that piece?” That voice. The guy from the theater. My heart starts to race as I spin around and see him smiling at me.

“Are you a stalker? If you are you should be able to find that out too.” I start to walk away when his hand wraps around my wrist. The feelings that blow through me threaten to knock my legs out from under me.

“I’m sorry. I’m Gavin.” Turning to look at him he smiles. Damn he is one nice looking piece of man.

“I’m Laney.”

“Dance with me, Laney.” Without waiting for an answer, Gavin pulls me closer to him. His hands wrap around my waist, grazing my skin where the back of my dress falls.

“I didn’t say yes.” Looking up into those dark eyes, he smiles.

“I didn’t ask.” He spins me around slightly and I’m surprised that a man that is dressed like a rocker can dance to this kind of slow music.

“If ever I fall.” The words leave my mouth before I can stop them. I don’t know what made me say that out loud.

That piece of music is very personal to me and I just blurted it out to a total stranger.

“What?” Gavin pulls back so he can look me in the eyes.

“That’s the name of the piece I played.” His slight smile says he likes it before he pulls me back into him.

We sway and move to the music before something faster comes on.

“Thank you for the dance.”  Gavin releases me as I spin around and walk towards the bar. I can feel his eyes on me even though I can’t see him.

“I see you met Gavin.” Steph grabs me around the waist.

“You know the hot guy?” Steph laughs as she raises her eyebrows at me.

“Oh he’s hot is he?” Brad walks up as my face turns red. Oh, this is going to get ugly.

“Who’s hot?” Brad looks between the two of us.

“She thinks Gavin’s hot.” I swear my face couldn’t get any redder than it is right now.

“Awww. That’s so sweet.” Brad flutters his eye lashes at me like a girl making me lose it.

“You two are assholes.” Grabbing a beer from the bar I take a long drink. I will kill these two.

“You should ask him out.” Brad nudges my shoulder. I spin sideways to look at him when I notice Gavin standing next to him now. Well isn’t that great.

“Who is she asking out?” Gavin throws his arm over Brad’s shoulder and I swear my face is the color of Santa’s suit. This is so embarrassing.

“You! She thinks you’re hot.” Oh my god! I have the worst friends ever!

I turn and start to walk away after the embarrassment finally takes over.

“Don’t leave, Laney.” Steph laughs as I flip her off over my shoulder. I officially hate my friend. No I don’t, I love her.

“Don’t walk off. I think it’s sweet.” Gavin’s hand comes around my waist startling me a little.

“I think I’ve been embarrassed enough for one night.” Gavin chuckles behind me before I turn to face him.

“Don’t be. Your friends are just having fun. So are you going to?”  Looking at him as if he’s completely lost it along with me, he doesn’t move.

“Am I what?”

“Going to ask me out?” Kill me now!

Gavin

Laney stands in front of me looking hot as hell yet confused at the same time. I guess she didn’t expect me to be so bold and ask.

“I don’t think so. It was nice meeting you.” I watch as she turns around and walks away from me. Well, that was an awkward way to meet a girl. I fucking loved it.

“Did she ask you out man?” Brad wraps his arm around me before I jab him in the ribs with my elbow.

“Nope. She said it was nice to meet me.” Chuckling I look around for anyone I may know.

“Jenna’s here.” Snapping my gaze back to Brad, he just shrugs. I should have known she would be here. This isn’t what I wanted to deal with tonight.

“Thanks for warning me.” Walking off I mingle with the people for a while until I spot Jenna. Her eyes find mine quickly and a small smile tugs at her lips. It’s been a while since we have seen each other and it does feel a little awkward.

I watch as she makes her way over to me in that sexy little dress she’s wearing. Damn that makes my dick hard.

“Hey Gavin.” I look Jenna up and down and I must say I like what I see.

“Jenna.” I want to make her beg me for what I already know she wants judging by the look in her eyes. Besides, I do kind of miss her.

“How have you been?” I love the small talk she tries to make with me.

“I’m ok. What about you?” Chugging my beer now, my dick stirs in my jeans. Shit, why do women do this to me?

“I miss you Gavin. I know you don’t want anything long term but I was wondering if maybe we could date again.” The shyness in her voice and the pure look on her face, how the hell could I say no to that?

Grabbing her around the waist, I pull her into my chest before kissing her neck.

“I missed you too. Want to get out of here?” The shiver that runs up her body doesn’t go unnoticed. She wants me like she always has.

“Yes.” She breathless already and just the way I want her. She knows the drill once I get her in my bed.

Spinning us around I wrap my hand around her waist and lead her towards the back door. Brad sees us and smiles as I walk past him making kissy faces at me. I just flip him off and keep walking.

When we walk out the door though nothing goes as planned. I didn’t plan on seeing Laney out there. Crying at that.

“Oh my god Gavin. That hoe got pimp slapped.” Jenna laughs like it’s the funniest joke in the world and usually it probably would be but something about the whole situation bothers me.

“She’s one of Brad’s friends. Give me a second.” Letting go of Jenna I walk towards Laney. She’s huddled in the corner covering her face with her hands. Something in my chest tightens when I see her like that.

Placing my hand on her shoulder, I speak softly.

“Are you ok?” Laney’s head pops up as she realizes that it’s me. She quickly starts wiping at her cheeks to clear the tears that streak them. Without thinking, I react. My hand comes up to cup her cheek, wiping the tears with my thumb. What the fuck am I doing?

“I’m ok. I didn’t think anyone would be out here.” Her voice is soft and clearly hurting.

“What are you doing?” Jenna walks up next to me as I drop my hand. She’s right, what am I doing?

“You shouldn’t be out here by yourself. This isn’t the best area.” Completely ignoring Jenna I know I will pay for that shit later but that pang in my chest won’t let me walk away.

“I’m ok. Really.” Wiping her cheeks again she starts to walk past us.

“Do you need a ride?” Laney stops as Jenna huffs but I don’t care.

“No, thank you. I’m going to find Steph.”  I watch Laney walk through the back door back inside. That tug is still there although I don’t know why. I have never felt anything like this.

“What the hell was that? Who is she?” Jenna stomps her stiletto behind me.

“Really Jenna? I just fucking met her.” I start to walk away from her next but she grabs my arm.

“I’m sorry. Take me home?”
