W
e were back
at the reception hall on the dance floor and all I could think about was the way that Brenda and I had been during the day. We were no longer strangers—the two teenagers who fell in love in high school still had a connection. It had never gone away. When we danced, I thought of nothing more than holding her in my arms, and when we snuck off to the side room, the adventures that we used to have as a teenager came rushing back. There was still something missing. We hadn’t spoken about Wendy or Annette.

“A penny for your thoughts,” Brenda whispered as she wrapped her arm around my waist.

“Brenda Stiles, I will say that you are truly wasted.” I smiled as I held her in my arms. She was beautiful, and when she’d walked in front of Kelly, I couldn’t get my eyes off her in the aisle. She had gone back to her natural color, her light makeup emphasized her eyes, and her smile was unforgettable. No matter how much I tried to shut it away, it always managed to pull a string in my heart.

“Shall we go back to my room after?” she slurred. I started to wonder if it was the champagne talking or if she really meant it. She pressed her lips against mine and then an announcement was made: “The bride and groom are leaving for their honeymoon.”

“Oh,” Brenda cried out, startled by the announcement. “I thought they were staying here.”

“No, they have an early morning flight so they are leaving now to be near the airport. Besides, I think Kelly wants to start working on having baby number two.”

Kelly hadn’t made it a secret that she was planning to have another one soon. She wanted Cole and their next child to be close in age. Also, she had always wanted a big family, because she had been brought up as an only child.

“Well, we all know that.” Brenda sighed, but before she could say what she wanted to say, Kelly screamed out, “Brenda, come on,” as she grabbed her hand and dragged her outside.

Women! Always up to something. I didn’t want to be stranded on the dance floor by myself. I joined the crowd as it proceeded outside to see the couple climb into the classical Beauford to be whisked away to the Hilton near the airport. There was only one part of the night that hadn’t been completed, and I started to wonder if that was the reason for Kelly grabbing Brenda’s hand.

“Ladies, are you ready to catch the bouquet?” Kelly screamed as she bounced up and down in the Beauford.

Yep, I was right. Seb nudged me as he whispered, “Sad. We all know who is going to get it.” He didn’t wait for me to reply as he started to make his way into the car. Yep, we all knew. They screamed, fought, and Brenda jumped up in the air as if her life depended on it.

A look of relief was on Kelly’s face as she turned around after throwing it.

Seb couldn’t stop laughing at his grandma’s face when she failed to catch it. “Nan, why were you in line?” he shouted.

She replied, “Because your grandpa’s dead!”

There were fits of laugher as she replied and adjusted her white curly wig.

Kelly ran out of the Beauford and headed towards me, giving hugs and kisses to everyone. “Well, I hope you make good use of our honeymoon room upstairs.”

I smiled and said, “Thank you, Kelly. Just have a good time and congratulations, Mrs.—”

Seb tore us apart, “Enough of that. She’s my wife. Go and get your own.” He laughed as he hugged her with all his might. They were both in matching cream suits after they got changed from their wedding outfits.

I couldn’t resist the temptation of asking, “So, are you two going to be wearing matching outfits from now on?”

Seb nodded. “If it keeps my wife happy, then why not?”

He really was a changed man and as Seb dragged her off to the car, Kelly shouted, “Don’t forget Cole and Wendy are with mom tonight and then he is all yours tomorrow.”

Everyone waved and blew kisses to them. It was so nice to see them happy. Brenda came to my side after Grandma finished trying to fight with her over the bouquet. She whispered in my ear, “So, does this mean that I am next?”

I nodded and said, “But first it depends if you are a good girl tonight.”

“Oh, I have no intention of being good, only bad…” she said as she kissed my lips. I wrapped my arms around her with only one intention. This time I was never going to let her go, never. No matter how much she tried to push me away. Yet, I had the feeling that she would not try it again. Once bitten, twice shy.

I
spent
the summer trying to make sure that I had a brand new image for the start of college. I wanted to be sexy, interesting, and all the things I wasn’t in the past.

Until, I met the prick, Ethan Tiry. He made sure that I was the center attention on his webpage called ‘Pranks By Us’. He humiliated me and I hated him.

At first, I wanted to be like the girls on campus that swarmed around him. When he showed his true colors, that he was nothing more than an arrogant jerk, I did the opposite. I completely avoided him.

Until, I got the phone call and I found out that I couldn’t avoid Ethan, no matter how much I wanted to.

et it off
,” they screeched as Sophia fiddled with her top. Why the heck were we playing strip poker? I smiled as Ethan glanced over at me. We were in his room with his two friends, Dean and Thomas. Sophia and I just happened to be passing his dorm room and we heard the noise. Curiosity got the better of us and we knocked on the door. Okay, not so much us, but me. Ethan opened it. Did I mention that Ethan was the hottest guy on campus? From the moment my mom dropped me off at NYU campus last week, I couldn’t help but find excuses to talk to him.

I was a geek in high school. There was no other polite way of describing me, but as geekish. I didn’t have fancy clothes—pretty much sweats or anything black are my best friends. I studied too much, no, all the time. Even when we didn’t have exams, I was always studying. Most of the time I didn’t go out, not even on the weekend. If I did meet up, it was with my best friend, Sophia. The three guys said, “Let’s make this game of poker more interesting” and turned it into strip poker mainly because Sophia has the biggest breasts ever. God, I wish I was Mexican like Sophia, with her tanned complexion and big assets, she makes me feel inferior.

I wanted to fit in at college. High school was over, and so I bought a few new clothes while working at my uncle’s store before we started college. None of them were black, and I got my hair done too. Oh, and I went all-out and got contacts. Half the time I still thought I had glasses on and kept adjusting them. I know, crazy, right?

Ethan was well out of my league: on the college football team, girls swarm him like bees to honey, and he’s popular. We only started college last week; I mean, how could he be popular already? It just seemed natural to him.

When I bumped into him on my way to my room. Chris Hemsworth, eat your heart out. I never thought another man could be so fine. Ethan had a sexy accent; it came from him travelling so much. A mix of a British accent, with a hint of California, oh and he spoke Spanish too. Fluently. I didn’t know anyone who spoke anything but English. Well, in fact, I hardly knew anyone apart from Sophia. Ethan’s dad owns a few clubs worldwide, or so I heard. . As for his eyes, they are the deepest color blue that I have ever seen on a man or even a woman. He makes my hazel eyes seem boring. Mom always commented on how great it was that I had gotten rid of my glasses and wore contacts, so everyone can see my beautiful eyes. Obviously, she hadn’t seen Ethan’s.

I had to go into his room. In secret at night, I touched myself. Not all the time, but I imagined that it was Chris Hemsworth’s hands all over my body. Until I bumped into Ethan and I spilled my Diet Coke all over him. At first he was annoyed, but then something switched and he smiled at me.

At me, Nicole St. Clair.

No guy has ever smiled at me. You know that sexy thing they do with their lips when the curl it. I have seen them do it enough times with Sophia. Normally they ignored me or winced, but a smile from someone so hot, it was like a dream come true, but it was my reality. So, I apologized a thousand times and he just said, “No worries,” and headed to his room. I took note that his room was number 820 and then I thought how lucky that mine was only 810. Just down the hall from the hottest guy in campus. Just down the hall from the guy that I dreamed about every night. Just down the hall.

It seemed like the perfect plan. I was nervous and Cole decided that he was more then peed when he didn´t get his way with me that night.

The arrogant, obnoxious quarterback embarrassed me.

I
t was prom night
, and we all agreed to hook up at my house and get ready for the big day. I was excited. Not only did I never have to study any book again, but I was going to party like crazy. We had one rule for the night: we all could fuck each other’s dates. I know, it was crazy. None of us believed in relationships, but we believed in playing the part.

Okay so the burning question is, who are we?

Well, my name is Ana Steele. I’m the head cheer for the Wildcats in Los Angeles. We’re supporting the best football team on the West coast. I’m kind of hoping that I can get into modelling if I stay focused on my cheerleading. So, I love to jog, eat the bare minimum, and I love to be a bitch. That is the beauty of being a cheer.

Then, there’s my partner in crime. Her name is Wendy Foster. We’ve been best friends since kindergarten. No one could ever break up our friendship, no one has ever dared try. Our parents are practically best friends too, and we spend way too much time together. And when we are not together, we are on Whatsapp or Facebook chatting to each other. I know it’s crazy. I just couldn’t imagine life without her.

Finally, there is Clarisse Jenkins. She started high school in our sophomore year. She moved here from Minnesota. I had never met anyone who came from there, so I was fascinated with her ability to engage with everyone and anyone at school. Shoot, she made popularity look like it was so easy. She had no problem meeting and greeting people, and every guy wanted to do her. Including the one guy that I had my eye on, and everyone knew he was off-limits.

But no one respected me. Until Clarisse came along. True enough. I should have been following her, but she respected me. So the question is why am I telling you this? This was three years ago. None of it should matter. That is the problem. It does matter, cause the shit is about to hit the fan, and I need to talk to someone. Even if it means me writing a journal on the events so I can keep it all clear in my mind. Shit, I’m nervous. But, I have no choice. I need strength, and it needs to come from somewhere.
