Blair worked his other hand into the top of Drew's jeans, fumbling with the button, moving fast.

In the back of his lust-fogged mind, he knew Blair hoped to get him so excited he'd pass that point of no return without knowing it. But Drew wanted the escape that sex brought, too He enjoyed outdoor sex, and this was such a beautiful place. And Blair was a talented lover.

The walls of resistance crumbled around Drew.

Cool air
.

Blair had Drew's cock out. Slick with pre-cum, he was delivering a hand job with all the enthusiasm of a beer hawker at a ballgame.

Breaking from the kiss, Drew rolled his head against his shoulders. The groan he'd been afraid to release slipped from his throat, deep, guttural. "Ah."

On his knees now, Blair took Drew's dick in his hot mouth.

The silky sensations of Blair's clever tongue and lips were Drew's undoing. He needed this release more than ever. Blair never wanted a long-term commitment; being fuck buddies was fine with him. Right now,
friends with benefits
status was okay with Drew, too.

He ran his fingers through Blair's thick, wavy hair, helping to guide his head. An orgasm was building fast, but Drew didn't want things to end so quickly.

"Stop. Wait."

Blair talked with his mouth full. "No. Too far, need . . . this."

Drew felt his muscles coil, wild flames of desire licked his groin, building intensity with each movement of Blair's mouth on him.

"Do you have a condom? I want you." Drew ground out each word like he was in agony.

Blair released Drew's cock and came up for a tongue-twisting kiss.

"Do you have one? A rubber? Damn it, I'm not wearing anything I own."

With a smile, Blair produced one from his back pocket.

Grinning, Drew took the foil packet from him. "Bless you, my son."

He kissed Blair again, tasting the remnants of his musk in Blair's mouth.

Blair pulled back. His dark eyes smoldered. "Do you want to fuck me in these babies?" He pointed to the leather chaps.

"That would rock." Drew helped Blair take off his boots and pants. The sight of Blair's chiseled ass in those black chaps made his cock drool.

Blair looked over his shoulder. "How's it look? Good enough to fuck?"

"More than good enough."

Drew's dick throbbed in his hand while he slid on the condom. Then he hugged Blair from behind, savoring his masculine strength, and the scent of new leather, horses, and men.

"I love the way you smell. Damn, you could make a dead man horny. Bend over.

I want you tight around me."

"I was starting to wonder how long it was going to take you."

"Pull on that gorgeous dick of yours while I fuck you." He spit on his fingers and spread Blair's ass cheeks.

"You don't need to ask twice . . . ah . . . ."

With two fingers, Drew opened the tight muscle. "How long as it been? You're tight as a virgin."

"Too long, and I was waiting for you. I could have killed you last night when you took off on me. My dick was so hard I could have shoed a horse with it."

Leaning forward, Drew kissed Blair's back. "I'm sorry. Obviously, I wasn't thinking straight. How could I turn this down?"

"Cock, please. We're going to be late for the afternoon session."

After spitting on his hand again, Drew rubbed Blair's asshole, then pressed his dick in.

"Oh, fuck, you feel amazing." He started to stroke, slowly, and a little deeper with each penetration.

Blair's breath left him with each pump forward. "Harder, I want all of you."

Drew widened his stance and complied. "Are you working that dick? I bet it's soaking wet."

"And so hard. Damn, wreck my ass. You own me."

Holding tightly to Blair's hips, Drew gave up control. He stroked inside Blair's tight muscle, sometimes pulling all the way out, and then slapping his firm butt cheek before diving back in. He concentrated on hitting the sweet spot inside Blair.

"Right there." Blair's voice was a mix of agony and ecstasy. "That's it. Oh, shit, I'm coming. Fuck me hard, now!"

Sweat dripped down the sides of Drew's face. The nearby cattle could have charged toward them, and he wouldn't have heard them coming, been able to stop. His vision blurred as the first burst of cum left his body.

Blair shuddered beneath him, hollering out monosyllabic words.

Pulses of cold heat radiated from Drew's spine through his cock. He couldn't remember the last time he'd orgasmed this hard. When the fog cleared from his vision, he pulled out of Blair's ass. His legs still trembled.

Blair stood and faced him, winded and covered in a glorious shade of red. He spoke between gasps for air. "I thought I was going to pass out."

Barely able to swallow his own spit, Drew nodded. "You're not the only one."

He pulled off the condom and tied it shut before stuffing it back in the foil package as best he could. Then, he spread his jacket on the ground.

"Sapphire is going to have a fit, but come here and relax for a few minutes."

Blair settled alongside him.

Drew kissed along Blair's shoulder and neck. "Why did you come after me?"

"I didn't like the way things ended last night, and you were obviously upset this morning." Blair rested his head on Drew's shoulder. His voice sounded groggy. "You wanted me last night as much as I wanted you. There's no reason for this sanctimonious bullshit. We're good together."

"You got that right."

"I know you have to work things out with Luis once and for all, but I've been thinking about you a lot lately." He pulled Drew's arm tighter to his chest and kissed Drew's knuckles. "If you finally give up on him, come to me."

Surprised, Drew propped up on an elbow. "Come to you?"

"Yeah. Let's give this thing between us a try. My job is pretty portable. I can move to New Orleans."

"Seriously? Why didn't you say something sooner?"

Blair shrugged. "I wanted to see how it was between us this time. We work well together, we have fun, and you're great in the sack—or on the prairie."

Drew chuckled over the truth of that last statement.

"I guess when I heard Teak and Kevin talk about getting married, I remembered this was how they started. Granted, we don't have the sexual identity issues Kevin had, but they started working together and fell in love."

Heat rushed into Drew's face as a realization dawned. "Are . . . are you saying you're in love with me?"

Blair shifted onto his back.

Drew looked into his eyes. Honesty and affection shone bright.

"I think I could, and after you told me about Luis last night, I didn't want to leave here without letting you know you're important to me. If you're interested, I am, too. If you think New Orleans isn't big enough for the three of us, the wildlife department in our area is huge."

Blair had obviously given this a lot of thought. His candor stunned Drew. "I don't know what to say."

Threading their fingers together, Blair spoke in soft tones. "Say you'll think about it. You have options. Luis is only one of them."

Light kisses lead to licks across Blair's full lips. Drew had no words to describe the tumult of emotions Blair unleashed. He'd been looking for a love he could count on, and maybe that was in his arms. He didn't want to say something he didn't mean or make a promise he might not keep.

"I'm flattered, and yes, I'll think about it."

Drew kissed Blair and then got between his knees. He slid Blair's dick into his mouth to coax his sleeping cock back to full hardness. The act prevented Drew from finding answers to the questions swirling in his mind. And when Blair finally shot his wad into Drew's throat, Drew came—hands-free.

After he swallowed, Drew couldn't help but laugh.

Blair looked at him with suspicion. "What's so funny?"

"Sapphire is going to kill me." He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

Picking up a shirtsleeve Blair was lying on, Drew explained. "I just came all over this shirt, and I don't even know if I'm supposed to wear it this afternoon."

Bursting into laughter, Blair nodded. "You really know how to make him happy, don't you?"

"Kevin won't care. He'll laugh." Drew dabbed the splotches of cum off Blair's inner thighs. "Sapphire is jealous. He'll have to pitch a fit so he won't break down crying."

Blair put his arm over his eyes. "You always were a troublemaker."

"We'd better get moving. Kevin might not care if we have cum-soaked clothes, but he hates when we're late."

Chapter Seven

Luis parked his Mercedes in a visitor spot outside the New Orleans office of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Weeping willows shaded the gray, three-story, brick building. Nestled in a commercial area near Highway 90, its tinted glass kept the blazing sun and prying eyes out.

Four newer model Jeeps were parked near the building entrance. The governmental logo was emblazoned on the 4x4s' doors.

He found it hard to believe that Drew had chosen this profession. When Drew fled to Minnesota, he'd taken a job at an outfitting company. Last Luis had heard, Drew was stuffing backpacks with dehydrated meals, and renting canoes and camping gear to people who probably shouldn't be in the wilderness alone.

Luis had left work a few hours early, figuring to catch Drew near the start or end of his day. Hell, he wasn't even sure what hours Drew worked, but when he didn't answer his doorbell, Luis took more drastic measures.

He placed his tie and suit jacket on the front seat. Luis contemplated wearing sunglasses, but changed his mind. If he was going for honesty today, he'd better let Drew see his eyes. He couldn't say the idea appealed to him. Revealing his emotions had always been a struggle for Luis, and, judging from the queasiness in his stomach at the moment, it still was.

Letting out a pent-up breath, Luis stepped out of the car. The door shut with a soft
thump
, typical of expensive, foreign cars. Looking skyward, he noticed that thick, gray clouds could only mean the forecasters got things right for a change, and a storm was imminent. Luis hoped the bad weather would hold off until he got home, otherwise traffic would be insane.

At the office entrance, a man wearing the dark green Wildlife and Fisheries uniform held the door for him.

Luis nodded his thanks. The air-conditioned building was a sanctuary against the late afternoon humidity.

A man looked up from behind the receptionist desk. "May I help you?"

"I'm looking for Drew Rothem." He cleared his throat. "Officer Drew Rothem."

"I'm sorry, but
Agent
Rothem isn't in."

"When will he be back?"

"I can't tell you that. If you'd like to leave a card or message, I'll see he gets it."

Luis wasn't happy, but he wasn't in any position to argue, either. He reached for his wallet, took out a business card, then handed it to the man behind the desk. "You'll give this to Agent Rothem?"

He gave Luis a look. "I will."

Kyle LaMontagne strode into the reception area. "Why are you here?"

Luis frowned.
They're both agents?

The receptionist answered without hesitation. "He's looking for Drew."

"He's not here." Kyle's voice held all the warmth of an arctic tundra in January.

Luis squinted at the receptionist's ID tag. "Mr. Patricks already told me that.

When will Drew will be back? That's the answer I'd really like."

Kyle crossed his arms, stubbornness oozing from his pores. "His whereabouts are none of your business."

Luis took a calming breath. "Do you really want to get into this right here?" He nodded toward Patricks. "In front of him?"

Kyle crooked his finger at Luis while turning toward the lobby door.

He hated being led around like a puppy on a leash, but he'd come to find Drew.

If he had to put up with a little drama from this ass, so be it.

Outside, a distant rumble of thunder made Luis look skyward. He stood under the awning, just in case.
Agent Prick can get soaked.

Luis turned his attention to the arrogant-looking man with him. "You were saying?"

"Why are you really here?"

"Now it's my turn to say that's none of your business." Luis couldn't contain his smirk.

"I'm making it my business." Kyle put his hands on his hips and rocked back on his heels. "You've been out of his life for six years. A chance meeting at the bar gives you no special rights."

Luis applauded slowly. "Your math skills are phenomenal. Did you do that quick figuring all by yourself?"

Kyle clenched and released jaw muscles.

He'd struck a nerve. "Just because you had a date the other night doesn't mean I have to divulge anything to you,
Agent
."

"Friday wasn't our first date." His tone was flat, matter-of-fact.

A twinge of anxiety ricocheted in Luis' gut. "Are you a couple?"

"We could be, if you'd get the hell out of his life—for good."

What an illuminating comment.
"I want to talk to him. We have a lot of catching up to do. If your relationship is so secure, then a little conversation won't do any harm."

Dry ice would have felt warmer than Kyle's gaze. "You've never done anything but hurt him."

"Tsk-tsk. Your insecurities are hanging out."

"If you care about Drew, leave him alone. Disappear again. He doesn't want anything to do with you."

A stab of regret hit Luis. "I don't answer to you." He turned to leave.

"I meant what I said, Luis. Leave Drew alone."

He glanced over his shoulder. "Let's let him decide."

"He already has."

Luis stopped and faced Kyle once more, waiting for more information.

"We spent Friday night together, all night, in fact. And Saturday night, too. If seeing you really had upset Drew, he wouldn't have made love with me—several times.

You're his past." Kyle pointed to his heart. "I'm his future."

Luis wanted to punch Kyle's smug mouth, but the desperate ramblings of a clingy lover meant nothing. He had to hear "get lost" from Drew. Luis crooked an eyebrow in suspicion. He wouldn't be surprised if Kyle retrieved and tore up his business card and kept this meeting a secret.
Hell, that's exactly what I'd do.
