1. Anyone who knew Dietrich Bonhoeffer must be filled with admiration and gratitude to Bethge for his outstanding biography. No matter how well one may have known Dietrich Bonhoeffer, this work offers an abundance of new facts, insights, and explanations which could have been uncovered only by thorough and painstaking research throughout the years of utter dedication. And no one but Bethge could have produced it. He is unique in his knowledge of Bonhoeffer, his background, and the thoughts with which he lived. Bethge has welded the three into a whole.
