‘You know, I am. A year ago I wouldn’t have believed things would turn out this way. That we would be together.’

His hand moved up from her abdomen to the tender curve of her breasts. ‘It’s been the best year of my life.’

She smiled. ‘Two weddings in the family, and the third scheduled for tomorrow.’

‘Mmm.’ He brushed his thumb back and forward across one of her dusky nipples. ‘Ours was the best.’

Laughing, she caught his hand in hers. ‘I don’t think Spiros and Elena will ever forgive us for beating them to the altar.’

‘My brother and Elena will have to be content with providing my father with his first grandchild. Their baby seems to have brought Spiros and my father close together for the first time in their lives. And now, he gets to look forward to the arrival of our child.’

‘He’s not the only one, but I’m really glad we waited. It was good to finish out my academic year. It meant a lot to me to see my senior students through their studies.’

‘Always thinking of others.’ He sat up and leaned back against the pillows, shifting her against his chest. ‘I’ve enjoyed having you to myself, even if it has meant you’ve stayed up late marking assignments when you could’ve been in bed with me. Time to make up for it.’ He tickled her ribs.

She slapped his hands away playfully. ‘Alex Kristidis — that only happened once!’

‘Once was once too often.’

‘Hey, as I remember it, you were the reason I had to stay up late. You didn’t let me get out of bed all day.’

‘An experience we could repeat today,’ he suggested throatily.

‘Sorry.’ She caught one of his nipples between her teeth and flicked it with her tongue. As he groaned his frustration, she laughed. ‘You know I have a dress fitting later today. There’s just one final adjustment to my outfit for Mum and Dad’s wedding tomorrow.’

‘You are such a tease.’ He pulled her up and over his body, so she now sat straddling him. ‘Right now you have time for a fitting of a very different kind.’

‘Alex!’ She laughed at his boldness as he guided her onto his arousal. Her laughter was soon replaced by insistent need as she sank her pelvis lower, so she felt him stretch and fill her. Her hips rocked of their own volition, rejoicing in the feel of him and the pleasure he provided.

His hands cupped her full breasts, exciting her nipples until they were fully distended. Then one hand moved to where they were joined, and she began to feel his fingers circling her swollen nub. Delight speared deep within her, setting her alight with need, taking her over the edge and into physical completion.

‘Oh, yes.’ Her need became more compelling, her movements faster, but she lost her rhythm as his fingers began to excite her beyond belief.

‘Keep going,
agape mou
,’ he said raggedly. The hand at her breasts moved under her buttocks, encouraging her into a more regular tempo.

‘Alex!’ she cried out, as she threw her head backwards, her muscles spasming and tightening around his hard length.

She heard him cry out his own release and then brought her head forward, opening her eyes as she watched him climax. The cords of his neck stood out. His eyes closed tight as he shuddered, losing himself in her. She felt the hot liquid of him deep inside her and smiled in triumph. It had been a year since they’d married, and she was still amazed at the effect she had on her strong, powerful husband.

Alex opened his eyes and smiled at her, reading her thoughts. ‘You’ll always have this effect on me, Leah.’ He reached for her hand and took it to his lips. ‘You, and no other woman.’

She moved off him and then snuggled against his chest. They lay there like that for several minutes, revelling in the intimacy of their shared union and the deep warmth of their love.

Then his arms hugged her more firmly. ‘You’ll outshine everyone at the wedding.’

‘I don’t know about that. Susie’s looking pretty good.’

‘Much better now she’s off the drugs,’ he agreed.

Leah was so proud of the positive changes Susie had recently made in her life. With the support of her parents, she’d left the music industry and had entered a rehab facility. Now, her sister was using her fame to campaign against drug use.

The twins had talked a lot about recent events and were closer now than they’d ever been before. Leah was thankful, too, that Susie’s accident had been just that — an accident. She had felt nothing but relief when her sister had assured her that she’d not walked out in front of the truck on purpose.

Concentrating again on the present, she turned to him and whispered, ‘And you have been a terrific support.’ She placed a kiss on the broad expanse of his chest. ‘I think she’s more settled now that Mum and Dad are together and supporting her. I was worried her addiction would tear them apart, but instead it’s brought them closer together.’ She trailed a fingernail down his chest and felt him shudder in response. She gave him a smile. ‘But enough about my sister. We can’t spend the whole day in bed, my love, but we’ve got a few more hours yet.’

He moved over her. ‘Then,
matia mou
, I think we should use those hours wisely.’

‘Mmm.’ She drew his head down to hers and kissed him deeply. ‘I love you, Alex.’

‘S’agapo. I love you too, Leah. Now and forever.’
