made much sense. Al they were real y doing was renewing the joy of simply being together.

“Let’s go to the cave,” Stian said eventual y. “Let us be alone together.”

“I’d like that,” Eleanor agreed. “Just the two of us together.”

“Right now? Tonight?”

“What?” she asked. “And waste al those lovely flowers upstairs.” She shook her head. “Oh no, my love. Tomorrow night we can share the cold, hard

ground. Tonight,” she promised, “I wil show you how I love you on a bed of roses.”

After we lock the door against Lark
, she added to herself.
For that animal has yet to learn I’m the only female my great red wolf needs in his bed.
