Chapter 1

Erica had mixed
feelings as she and Daniel drove Emily to the airport on Wednesday
evening. She was happy that she and Daniel were finally going to get
some alone time but she was also sad that her sister was going back
home. She interlaced her fingers with Emily’s as they slowly
walked into the departures terminal.

You
know the weird thing is that I actually want to stay even though I
have been the third wheel in this arrangement for a week,”
Emily said with a smile. Erica looked at Daniel and felt herself
blush. “Cassandra is going to have my head on a platter for
leaving without telling her,” Emily added.

So,
you left without telling her?” Erica asked in disbelief. Emily
shrugged.

I
only told her when I arrived…two days after I got here,
actually,” Emily shrugged.

Yeah,
Cassandra is definitely going to have your head. You know she would
have come, right?” she asked.

Yeah,
don’t rub in the whole ‘she’s her own boss thing’.
I kind of know how it works,” Emily said rolling her eyes.

You
know you could stay, right?” Daniel asked.

Emily forced a smile
and shook her head.

Well,
as much as I like being the odd one out, I really have to get back to
my life. I have to look over some of the offers and actually accept
one. Plus there is the little factor of having to deal with a few
legal things,” she explained. Daniel shrugged. “But I
would have loved to stick around and maybe try my hand at a charming
Greek god,” she added winking at her sister.

For
some reason, I think those gods were…um…a bit small in
size,” Erica frowned.

Wait,
are you talking about…” Daniel started before Erica
nodded knowingly.

Yes,
that is exactly what I’m talking about,” she said, a
naughty smile on her lips.

Why?”
Daniel asked as he put his hands over his ears. “I really don’t
think this is something I should be hearing right now.”

Well,
like it or not, all the paintings and the structures kind of show all
the men spotting some weirdly small cocks. I don’t think it’s
all a coincidence,” Erica said. It was now Emily’s turn
to frown.

Well,
I’m definitely off Greek men. For life,” she said.

I
was simply making an observation.”

Daniel looked at her
and shook his head. “How I still find myself amazingly
attracted you…I really do not get,” he said.

I
think I have the answer to that. Have you seen her ass?” Emily
smiled.

Emily!”
Erica said a little too loudly. She was surprised that her sister
would say that out loud. That was the kind of thing that you thought
and never spoke of. She was now looking at a giggling Emily.

What?
It’s true. We Hayes women have always had an ass that would put
J-Lo and Beyoncé to shame. We are the true definition of
Bootylicious,” she said.

Erica shook her head.
“I cannot believe we are having this conversation,” she
said under her breath.

Hey,
that is exactly what I was feeling two minutes ago so welcome to my
world,” Daniel said. There was a vengeful smile on his lips.
None of them noticed the time flying by as they stood there until
Emily looked at her phone and realized that it was time to check in.

I
really hate to break this up but I have to check in,” she said
frowning. She took a step towards Daniel and threw her arms around
him. “You take care of her, won’t you?” she asked
as she hugged Daniel tightly.

You
know I will,” he said in a soft voice.

And
you better not fuck this up because I will kill you,” she added
in a loud whisper, loud enough for Erica to hear.

Then
I better not fuck up,” he said as he pulled away from her. She
looked at him and smiled before she threw her arms around her sister.

I
already miss you,” she said in a soft voice.

Even though Erica
thought she was strong, her sister’s words touched a part of
her she didn’t expect. Her eyes welled up as she held her
sister in her arms.

Hey,
sympathetic crier here. Don’t make me turn on the water works,”
Emily said as she rubbed her sister’s back. She pulled away and
held her sister’s face in her eyes. “I’m really
happy to see that you’re happy,” she said as she brushed
off Erica’s tears.

I
am. I really, really am,” Erica said in a low voice.

I
know. You got a great one here. I would hold on to him if I were
you,” Emily said.

Daniel smiled and
nodded. “Words of a wise woman.”

Trust
me. I intend on doing it,” Erica said as Daniel slipped an arm
around her waist.

Do
you have a layover?” Daniel asked. Emily looked at her boarding
pass and nodded.

Yup.
I will be in Paris for eight hours. I can’t wait to go
shopping. Avenue Montaigne and The Marais, here I come,” Emily
said excitedly. She looked into Erica’s eyes and hugged her
again before she pulled back and smiled. “Guess I better get
going, huh?” she said and Erica nodded.

Yeah.
Call me as soon as you get to Paris, when you leave and when you land
in Philly,” Erica said.

Yes
mother,” Emily said shaking her head and rolling her eyes at
Daniel. “How do you do it?” she whispered to Daniel
before she walked away, her luggage in hand.

I
do it because I love her,” Daniel thought as he planted a kiss
on Erica’s head. “Ready to go?” he asked. Erica was
still looking at her sister who had just walked through the gates.
Erica made a weird noise, something that made Daniel realize that she
was the kind of person who liked looking at someone until they
disappeared in the horizon. “Come on, standing here is not
going to make it any easier on you,” he added as he led her
out.

Even
though she did kind of walk in on my vacation, I am really sad to see
her go,” she said in a low voice as they walked out of the
terminal.

Come
on, let’s get you something to make you feel better,” he
said in a low voice. She smiled and rested her head on his shoulder.

Ice
cream?” she asked.

Ice
cream sounds good,” he laughed opening the door for her.

And
maybe just stay in today. No visits, no nothing,” she said when
he climbed into the driver’s seat.

Whatever
you want babe,” he said as he revved the engine to life. He
looked at her and sighed before pulling out of the parking lot. He
knew that she was having a hard time readjusting but he had something
in mind that would cheer her up later.

After taking Emily to
the airport, Erica was right not to want to do anything. If he didn’t
know better, Daniel would have thought that she had been traumatized
or something. It was only then that he realized what a great bond
Erica had with her sister even though they were constantly fighting
when they were together. It dawned on him that he was actually the
same way with his sister. He came to the conclusion that he thought
Erica’s and Emily’s bond was tighter because he was on
the outside looking in.

Maybe
people think the same when they see me and Mel,” he thought as
he drove her back. When they got back to the hotel, he took her hand
in his and led her to the restaurant.

Daniel,
I said I just wanted to stay in…” she started before he
shook his head.

And
do what? Wallow?” he asked as he looked at her.

I
don’t know what you want baby. All I know is I just want to
stay in bed and maybe watch a movie,” she sighed. Daniel held
her face in his hands and pressed his lips to hers.

I’m
here and I promised your bossy sister I would take care of you. So
now, we are going to go have something to eat and then maybe you and
I can do something later that does not involve being sad. Maybe check
out a club or something,” he said as he looked at her. She
forced out a smile and shrugged. “Trust me, I’ll make it
worth your while,” he said before he kissed her cheek softly.
She smiled and followed him to a table. She couldn’t help
looking into his eyes as they sat down.

What
are you up to, Reese?” she asked as he moved closer to her in
the booth. He shrugged and flashed her that heartwarming smile.

What
I can’t just look at you and smile?” he asked as a waiter
walked up to their table. “What do you think? Adventurous or
safe?” he asked as he looked at the menu.

What
the heck, let’s go adventurous,” she shrugged with a
small giggle. Daniel smiled at her and then pointed to something on
the menu. “And a glass of wine please,” he added with a
smile. He held her hand and drew little circles on the back of her
hand with his thumb.
