PUSH: Ultra Alpha MMA Badboy Mafia Romance (Southside Brotherhood Book 2) (40 page)

Flynn kept working, folding her stuff and laying it in perfect, little piles in the drawers of the long, antique dresser against the wall across from the mammoth bed.

“I know they aren’t eighteen. That I know. I heard a few conversations. One was bad. Really bad. I almost thought about calling the police, but—” She looked out the window and Flynn saw her hands wrap around her waist, her sign she was scared.

“It’s okay. You’re okay. Tell me.”

“There was one girl; she’s gone now. I heard her talking to another girl. They came from Haiti together. She was saying they thought they were going to go to school and work at a restaurant or something. Their parents thought they were sending them to a better life. She was only thirteen.
Thirteen
!”

He could hear the pain in her voice. The tears came, and he set down what he was working on and scooped her against him.

“He’s a fuck, babe. I gotta get something on him, like this. This is bad. This isn’t something that is considered acceptable, even in our fucked up world. You don’t mess with kids.”

“She was talking about how he would take them, rape them and then give them to their new ‘bosses.’ But they weren’t going to be maids, they were going to be prostitutes. Colin broke them and then sent them off to pimps, I guess. I didn’t want to believe it, but after a while, I saw things, saw how they acted around him, and I knew it was true. I still pretended it wasn’t true, but it is, isn’t it?”

“Think so, babe. Don’t worry, I’m going to figure out how to take care of him and us. Now, that’s enough of that ugliness. You stay put, and I’m going to feed you. You need to drink some water too.” He pointed at the bottle of water next to the bed. “I want that entire bottle gone by the time we go to sleep, got it?”

“We’re going to sleep tonight? That’s new.”

“My little fire-doll’s mouth is going to get her in trouble.”

“Promises, promises.”

She put the water to her mouth, and Flynn felt his heart beat. The tips of his fingers tingled thinking of touching her again, but he knew if he did, that may put a stop to the food they both desperately needed.

You’ve got all night. Food first, then love her again before sleep. Stay focused.

After dinner, Flynn’s never-say-die cock took over, and he made love to her, slow and easy, face-to-face until she’d arched and canted her hips, looked him dead in the eye and told him to fuck her harder.

He almost didn’t believe his little cherub could be such a vixen, but she’d taken to this faster than he’d expected, and there was no part of it that didn’t make him growl.

She’d settled into an easy sleep after he’d given her what she’d asked for. Flynn listened to her steady breathing as he toyed with a long curl of her hair, bringing it to his face to smell as he thought of how he would win the war for her. For them.

His brother was about as much of a fuck as their father. But, Flynn had his doubts about whether he was involved with the girls. He’d never seen him with any of the young ones. Sure, he’d taken his share of the staff to his room and anywhere else in the house he liked, but something told Flynn he wasn’t quite as fucked up as Colin.

There had to be some way, something to bring him to ally with them, but Flynn couldn’t quite put it together yet.

Then, it dawned on him.

He smiled at the warmth that lay against him as he settled behind her, arms around her waist.

“I’ve got it babe. I’ve got you.”

Now, I have to be sure I can do what I need to do and fucking stay alive.

Chapter Thirty

“Tell me about Mac.”

Flynn watched Lilly spin up her mile of hair into a loose bun.

She looked stunning standing there in front of the mirror in just her little panties. He’d just managed to have a mouth-watering pussy feast. Waking her up with his mouth would have to be her new standard.

His woman was becoming as he’d envisioned. She showed him that part of her that he’d worked to awaken. To create.

This girl needed him like she needed air. This girl looked at him for her everything and took what he gave and loved the-fuck as much as the-kiss.

Now, Flynn knew it was time to make her his, even in the legal sense. No way was anything going to prevent her from belonging to him in every way, and there was no better way to prevent his fuck of a father from changing the game.

“He’s sweet.”

Flynn shook his head, lost for a second, forgetting he’d asked her a question.

“You trust him?”

“Yes, he’s not perfect. He’s still part of this life, but I think he sees things differently now. He cares about me; I know he does.”

“Good. We’re going to need him.”

“For what?”

“You’ll see. You just need to go do your job. Keep that damn phone on you, right?”

“Right. But I can’t believe they don’t know I’m not at the house. I mean, I’ve been gone two nights, and no one has called? Doesn’t that seem strange?”

Fuck yes, but I’m not going to scare you with that shit. That belongs to me.

“Babe, you’re fine. Colin’s got his head up his ass about this deal. You just keep the program going, make the deadlines, and he’ll be fine. In fact, you need to blow them the fuck away. Get it done faster and better than you thought you could. Do exactly what you are supposed to plus more. Appeal to his greed. You’re in place because he can control you. I mean, your brain is magic, and other parts of you too. But, to tell the truth, he could have paid a shit ton of money to some other fuck and had them guiding this freight train. But, we both know why he didn’t. Why, is you.”

“Yeah, because I’m doing stuff I shouldn’t be doing, putting code in there that no other ethical person would do. And, I’m kinda slave labor, so there’s that.”

“Listen, you need to just do your work, babe. I know it’s not everything you want, but I know it means a lot to you. I’m proud as fuck of what you’re doing. Do you know that? I’m proud of you.”

Flynn stood up, and so did his cock, but there was no more of that right now. His girl was clean and half dressed, and he needed to tame the beast and do the same. They were both running on a few hours of sleep, and she needed to be at work and Flynn needed to do some reconnaissance.

“Thanks.”

“Oh, and one more thing we need to get fucking straight.”

Lilly’s eyes widened as Flynn’s voice rose and deepened.

“What?”

“I took a look at your car before Reggie picked it up.”

“Okay.”

“Uh huh. No fucking more of that shit, you got it? I won’t have it, Lilly. No bullshit on this one. You know what I’m fucking talking about so don’t play. I can see right through that shit.”

“I—” She blew out a breath, long and low before raising her eyes to his. “I didn’t open it. I was going to; I’m not going to lie. I went all week after that night in the shower. Then, I don’t know. It just all seemed so pointless. And, I stopped and bought the bottle, and I was going to come here and just drink and who knows what. It wasn’t smart.”

“Yeah, but
you
are, so look me in the eye and promise. No more.” He shook his head, the muscles in his chest tightening and flexing as he spoke. The tension in his glare sent a chill through the room.

“I do. I promise.”

“Good. Now, I consider that fucking subject closed.”

She tugged her lime green cashmere sweater over her head, and Flynn fought to get his dick inside his button fly jeans.

“Going commando?” Lilly gave him a playful smile, trying to lighten the mood.

“Less between you and me, babe.”

“God, honestly. You are going to stick like that, you know?”

“That’s your damn fault. Not mine.”

Flynn gave her a quick kiss, fighting the urge to start loving her again.

“Oh, so you’re saying you don’t have control over your own body, Mr. Dunleavy?”

“Nope. No control.”

He took a big handful of grab-ass as she leaned over to put her legs in her little, black skirt.

“God!
Stop.

“Come on. We need to get out of here before my lack of control has you bent over the bed for a quickie.”

“I already need to take very careful steps otherwise I yelp. So yeah, let’s go. I’m ready.”

“Okay. Call Mac. See if we can go see him later. You usually go for lunch, right?”

“Yeah, but what will he think if we both show up? What if he tells Topher or Colin?”

“You said he already knows, right? He gave you the damn key to this house. He’s on your team, Lil. I just need to prove to him I am, too. He’ll be there for us, just trust me. Set up lunch, a late lunch if you can. I have to go to the gym, clear my head. That promoter is coming today to watch me and some other dude. I gotta deal with that shit.”

“I’m proud of you, too.” Lilly wrapped herself around his waist, and Flynn felt that overwhelming sense of instinct to protect what was his.

“Thanks, babe. Let’s go.”

“Just promise me one thing.”

“Anything.”

“Just take care of me, okay? I’m so tired. So tired of being afraid, looking over my shoulder — of this crazy life you have. I feel like any second you could disappear, and I don’t know if I could take that. Not now.”

“I’m not going anywhere. No one is going to hurt me. I’ll always be here for you.”

“Okay. I’m going to hold you to that, you hear me?”

“Uh huh. Move that sweet ass; remember who gives the orders here.”

Flynn brought his hand down in a loud smack on her ass, and Lilly’s laugh and scream warmed his heart as she ran out the door.

“Mac said he can’t meet us for lunch. But, they have some little wine and cheese party thing at three o’clock. He said come then.” Lilly held the cell phone to her ear, plugging the other to try to hear over the whir in the server room.

“Good girl. I’ll pick you up at 2:30.”

“Okay. Everything okay?”

“Everything is fine, babe. You just do your work. I’m going to be at the gym for a couple more hours, then I have to go talk to someone, then I’ll be there to get you. Okay?”

“Okay.”

“Bye, babe.”

Roger proceeded to beat the shit out of Flynn with a workout that had his heart in the danger zone and his hair looking like he’d just gotten out of the shower.

It’d felt good, just what he’d needed, and the silence between the fighter and his trainer felt comfortable. Flynn had developed a sense of trust with the old fuck, even if he did stink of whiskey and cigarettes at nine in the morning.

“Do you ever have a good day?” Roger looked at Flynn as he worked the bag. “Or you always an angry, Irish fuck?”

Roger was bent because Flynn still wouldn’t sign the contract. Simon Reed hung around for an hour watching him spar and workout, but Flynn threw him shade, and it pissed the old man off.

“What? How do you know this
isn’t
a good day?” Flynn came around with his shin, practically tossing the bag at a forty-five degree angle and making Roger duck to the side.

He pounded the bag, the movement of his fists not individual but a blur as sweat coursed down the indents of his body.

“You’re a damn mess. I don’t know what you’re always so balled up about, but someday that shit will kill you.”

“I’m working it out, Coach. Right now, can’t ya see?” Flynn shifted his feet, gave the old man a smile and came around with another foot, then a barrage of rapid fire blows until his lungs were on fire, and he had to rest his hands on his knees and take a breath.

“Uh huh. I can see.” Roger tightened his lips together. “Now, kid, I’m not pushing you, but you got an offer. You acted like an ass that night, storming off, but Simon Reed came back around. And today, you acted like a spoiled fucking brat. He won’t wait forever for your ass to decide. He liked what he saw, thinks you need your ass kicked in shape, but I can do that. So, you gotta make a decision. You read that contract all the way through, yet?”

Flynn cracked his neck and shrugged twice, bringing his shoulders almost to his ears.

“Yeah. I read it.”

“And?”

“I’m still thinking about it.”

“What the fuck is there to think about? Now, listen — I know there’s something you’re either running from or something else. You fight like a pro. You say you’re from somewhere in Boston, but you don’t give out any details. I’m okay with it. I don’t give a shit about your personal life. If I thought enough about it, I could probably figure out who the fuck you are, but I’m not going to. But, I do give a shit about this gym.” Roger’s voice rose with each word, his face heating and turning red. “When I see what you’ve got, it’s a damn waste. Shit or get off the shitter. Take the contract or tell me what the fuck it is you’re here for and quit wasting my damn time.”
His face beat red now, Roger turned and stomped off toward the back hallway.
