“It can’t be,” Camp groans.
That’s a damn good catch from Kenly. Aging-wise, a wolf year is the equivalent of about ten human ones. It’s something only the ex-human would notice, since we wolves aren’t very good at judging their ages from the way they look.
“What else, Zara?” Xavier asks, not looking at her.
“They’ve only told him what he’s spoken of.” She pauses, and his shoulders visibly deflate. “He knows nothing of the bomb or an attack coming by them on us.” Camp stiffens at the word bomb, but says nothing. He sits there stunned like we just shattered his world, shattered his train of thought. Grief and pain come off of him in waves, and I feel for the man.
“What do you want to do with him, Xavier?” Max asks, wanting to kick his ass, the vein in his forehead pulsing,
“Nothing else?” Xavier asks Zara again and she shakes her head. “Fuck,” he grumbles, walking away from Camp and turning his back to him. “We can’t let him go. Marissa said they are going to kill him.” Camp sucks in a deep breath at Xavier’s words. “Get Nana O and Grams down here. We’ll need to bind him to the room for the time being.”
“I’ll get them.” Kenly takes off, shutting the door behind her.
“Feed him. Make sure he’s got a bed and stuff to drink. And I don’t know…magazines or something for him to do while he’s here.” Xavier waves his hand and walks out of the room, Zara following. Thor and Max look at each other.
“Let’s get him bound then go from there,” Thor says.
“IT’S HIM,” ZARA WHISPERS
as we enter Xavier’s office, Thor closing the door. Xavier pulls her into his arms. The heaviness in the room is a kick to the gut. “Seth, he’s back.” She backs out of Xavier’s hold, looking up at him. “He said—or thought—that he was going to kill my old pack.” Guilt floods her face and my heart breaks for her.
“It appears he’s part of the Lobos. We should have suspected he had a part in this,” Xavier replies, his hand brushing up and down Zara’s back. I snuggle into Thor deeper, needing his closeness.
“I guess so,” she says, softly.
“Can you read him, Zara?” Xavier asks and she shakes her head. “Thor, any pictures come up to confirm this?”
Thor straightens a bit. “Yes. Can I use your computer, Alpha?”
“By all means,” he says, rising and moving away from his desk. Thor gives me a squeeze then sits at the desk, typing away. As much as I don’t want it to be the same wolves, I do want it to be so we know who exactly we are dealing with.
“Here,” Thor says, pointing to the screen. All of us step around it and Zara gasps. The wolf on the screen is pretty handsome, his brown eyes specked with gold, and dusty blond hair. He’s smiling in the picture, but the smile doesn’t reach his eyes. I’m actually surprised that Zara even went for him.
“Me too,” Zara says, hugging herself, and I instantly feel like a heel. She heard me. Shit.
“Sorry, I—” She waves her hand, cutting of my words.
“I’m thinking the same thing myself. No worries,” Zara says. “That’s him. When I found you, it all started.” She looks so sheepish and Xavier pulls her close.
Then it hits me. “Let’s break this down. Camp was the catalyst that started everything. He went to Donte who knew who the Barren pack was. Donte brought in Zara’s father, Ty, to kill off the wolves while he was really keeping an eye out for the first female to get her powers.”
“And that night with Seth, I got them. I bet by my reactions to him, he knew then, but there were too many people around for him to kill me without being known. Just like Camp said. I went right home and that’s when my father locked me up. There would have been no opportunity for me to get out, or for them to get to me,” Zara adds.
“And I bet Donte was counting on your father keeping you locked up therefore you wouldn’t meet your mate. Ty would kill off most of the wolves, then when Donte was done with him, he’d take Ty and you out. Then the Lobos would rule. After you met your mate, they had to change their plan,” Kenly finishes.
“Holy shit, but how did he know I was there at that specific party?” Zara asks as we try to put this puzzle together. “I’d never been to that place before.”
“If the Lobos had been watching the females in your pack, they could have possibly followed you that night,” Kenly states.
“True.” She shakes her head in despair. “I can’t believe my father was so low. It does explain why he never looked that hard for Seth when I told him about that night. My father knew all along who he was.”
“Sorry, babe.” Xavier wraps her up in his arms. “But now we prepare. We know who and we know why. We just need to be ready when it all comes to a head,” Xavier says and I want to crawl in a hole. Shit.
“What about the crystal?” I ask, begrudgingly. “If we have to have it, is there any hope for us?” My stomach drops, like concrete settling inside of it, hard and heavy.
“We are going to fight with everything we have. Crystal or no crystal, each one of us will give it our all. We will fight as if we have that gem in our hands, and are feeding of its power, whatever that might be.” Xavier pauses, confidence coming off of him in waves. “Rabers will come out on top.”
Heavens, I hope he’s right.
“I’M BEAT.” I COLLAPSE
onto the bed, not having the energy to take off my clothes, my flip flops falling from my feet on their own. Thor closes the door and begins to shed his clothes. I make sure to keep my eyes open for that show.
Thor’s body moves with grace as he takes each piece of clothing off, exposing his hardness to me. Even exhausted my heart starts thumping and wetness coats my underwear.
The males refused to let Zara, Kenly, and me help in the rebuilding of the waterway for the past three days. They state that it’s not safe, even though Xavier, Max, and Thor have been there the entire time. Instead, us females practiced our powers and helped in keeping everyone around fed and hydrated. We haven’t left the den and I admit fully, I’m starting to get twitchy. The need to get out of here and run is eating at me. I let my wolf out, but it’s in the confines of the den. Thor’s being an overprotective jerk, but I like that part about him so I can’t complain too much.
None of us have seen Camp. After the spells were put on him, we all left him alone with a rotation of guards to watch over his doors. A couple of the wolves bring him food and such. He knows nothing of what is coming and there’s no sense in riling him up. He’s only a human who came into this world for the wrong reasons. Vengeance. He’s just a sad man and who can blame him. His family was ripped away from him when he was very young and in a very horrific way for a human. I feel so damn bad for him. Zara said that he cries sometimes at night. That struck me deep.
“Well, it’s done,” Thor says, breaking me away from my thoughts and kicking his jeans to the corner of the room. One thing I’ve learned is that Thor doesn’t clean up after himself. I’ve given him a lot of leeway because he’s working his ass off, but we will definitely be having a chat about that very soon.
“The whole waterway?” It was a huge undertaking and even with all the manpower we have in the pack, I thought it would take two weeks, minimum.
“What we can. Some of it was destroyed beyond repair, so we had to work around it and create new paths, but water is flowing again.” He turns his back to me, dropping his boxer briefs and giving me a sexy as hell glimpse of his ass. Yes, please. “Gotta shower. Be out in a minute and then I’ll fuck you.” He turns his head, giving me a wink before striding into the bathroom.
I take those brief moments to pull myself together. Tired or not, I’m having him. I jump to my feet and stare into the mirror. My hair is a hot mess, pieces sticking out all over the place and not one where it is supposed to be. Using my fingers, I get out as many of the tangles as I can, taming it down a bit. My face looks tired, droopy eyes, skin slack. Shit.
I flip my head over, letting the blood flow to my face and shaking my hair in the process. Maybe that will help. I flip back up and look in the mirror. Some color has come back, but there is nothing I can do for tired eyes. I blink them but…nothing. Whatever, it’s as good as it’s going to get without me stepping into the bathroom with him. He knows I want him, so this whole seduction thing is a waste of time anyway.
The door to the bathroom opens and Thor comes out completely naked, his cock at attention. My pussy clenches and aches for him. My wolf whines. I thought I’d toned down the whining, but apparently with sex, that is a no go for her. No negotiations appease her and with all the shit going on, sex is something that we take whenever we can get it.
My feet move to him like a magnetic force compels them to take me to my mate. I jump up high, wrapping my legs around his body, and slamming my lips down on his. His strong hands knead my ass, only spurring me on, and I can’t help but be pissed at myself that I didn’t take off my clothes with all that hair flipping I was doing.
His tongue begins its wicked assault on me, and I suck and nip every chance I get, lacing my fingers through his hair and pulling. His muscles tense at this and my hips move on their own accord. Up and down. Up and down. The friction is so good, even if it’s just from my clit rubbing against his abs. With the ripples in them, it doesn’t take long before the movement has me ready to combust.
We move but I keep my eyes closed. I’m thrown down on the soft surface of the bed and Thor’s weight buries me. I love every damn inch of it. His rough fingers slip under the hem of my worn t-shirt, and as much as I want him to rip it off and get inside of me, he feels the need to take his time. Each painstakingly slow inch he lifts my shirt to expose my tan skin to him is killing me inside. I lift my arms to help him, but he doesn’t quicken his movements. He keeps at his own pace, setting the scene exactly as he wants it.
I rip my lips away from his mouth, my pussy screaming to be filled by him. I take my shirt off in haste. “What the hell, Thor?” I bark, as he gives me that sexy smile I’ve come to love so much these past few days. My insides twist and warmth spreads through me, not the pissed off kind but the heart melting kind.
Without words, he pulls my arms up above my head, clamping them at the wrist. I struggle briefly, until realizing that he’s not giving me an inch, I settle. His lips touch the nape of my neck, leaving wet trails up and down, and taking extra moments to caress the underside of my ear on his descent. Every thought leaves my brain as I focus only on his lips and allow myself to feel everything they are doing to me.
His bottom lip roams over my shoulder and up my arm, stopping just before my elbow. The process is repeated again with the other. My breathing comes out in pants, my arousal spiking to all-time high levels. Holy shit!
I close my eyes, turning my head to give him better access. He’s a wolf not a vampire, yet here I am, offering a damn vein to the man, but I don’t care. When he sucks on the skin where my neck and collarbone meet, I scream as sensations close to climax erupt in me.
“You like that, Sabrea? Bet you’re dying for my cock right about now.” He takes that moment to rub his hardened erection along my thigh. I clench my hand, wanting so badly to grab him, touch him, anything, but I’m unable to move. His words only make the growing ache inside me so intense I want to scream. I need to scream, but hold it in. If I play along, he’ll get this on quicker, right? If I fight then he’ll drag it out longer, right?
Oh, I hope that’s the game that he’s playing because my body is so on fire, I swear it will spontaneously combust at any given moment. My wolf inside doesn’t feel like playing that game and rears her head. I buck my hips hard, moving Thor about an inch, if that. It’s enough for me to slip out from under him. His grip on my arm tightens and I don’t get far.
He pulls me back down the bed. “Think you can get away? Do what you want?” His teeth bite my throat, yes! Bite. My. Throat. And I like it. A lot. There is something about the hotness level of it that sends me reeling. I rub up on him quicker, my orgasm right there…and then he pulls away. Son-of-a-bitch!
“Thor!” This time I scream at him. He’s a wolf, for Heavens’ sakes. Take me! This slow and steady is not working right now. We’ve only done slow one other time, the rest have been fast and furious. I need the latter right now. The burn is going to eat me alive. The tingles prickling my skin are small electrodes, pulsing erratically.
