Rebuilding Stone (The Stone Brother Series Book 2) (12 page)

Kerrigan

I hold my breath as Maddox pushes his finger inside me. He
is taking his time, sliding in and out. I’ve never felt this need to have a man
inside me. I feel him slide two fingers in. YES! This feels amazing. My eyes
search his body; desperate to make Maddox feel the sensations I’m feeling. His
dick is rock solid, so I reach for it to feel it for the first time—with
my hands, I mean. He grabs my hand just as I get a small feel.

He whispers into my mouth, “Wait...this moment is for you,
Kerrigan. Only you....” Hearing his deep, gravelly voice makes my knees go
weak. How can so much pleasure make me want to pass out? He's touching all the
right spots. He slides his fingers out and circles my clit a few times, sending
me over the edge. The feeling is so overwhelming that I try to find something
to hold me up. My hand slips from the shower wall, and Maddox gives me his hand
to hold onto while I ride out this incredible high. When it’s over, I plan on
repaying this amazing favor. I watch as he takes his fingers and licks each
one.

“WOW!” is all I can say—forming words is impossible.

“I’ve waited a long time to know what you taste like,
Kerrigan. Good news for me, it’s better than I thought it would be. The bad
news is--now, I’m a greedy man. Let’s get out of the shower so I can taste you
some more.”

He doesn’t need to ask me twice.

Maddox

After sampling her in the shower, I can only describe the
taste of Kerrigan on my tongue as undeniably appealing. I take my time drying
off Kerrigan’s hair and body. Again, when my fingers touch her, her body reacts
with a moan or whimper. I lead her to my bedroom. This is the first time I’ve
ever brought a woman into my home. Public bathrooms, cars, and their place are
the only places I’ve had sex. Never in my home or in my bed.

“Maddox,” she says, “you told me once that you jerked off to
the thought of me. Which thought was your favorite? I’d like to repay the
pleasure.” Holy shit. Good mother of God. Kerrigan can take me any way she
wants, and I’d be a happy man.

“Kerrigan, I’ve fucked you many different ways—sweet,
slow, fast, raw, rough, and hard. You pick, they were all great.” I smile.

Kerrigan walks over to me and gets on her knees. She places
her hand at the base of my dick and her lips open as she takes me in. My dick
jerks the moment her tongue makes contact. At first, she sucks slowly to gauge
how much she can take in without gagging. Love her fucking heart, she pushes
past the gag reflex and takes it all. She finds her pace and starts sucking
with long, lazy pulls, and it feels perfect. She continues for a couple of
minutes, before increasing the pace. I feel close to my release, so I step
back. I loved cumming inside Kerrigan and would like a repeat.

“I can handle it, Maddox,” she says. “Go ahead.” My girl is
fucking hot.

“I liked cumming inside you. I want to do it again.”

“Maddox, I’m not on birth control. We should use a condom.”
I feel a brief second of disappointment that she wants me to use a condom. She
is right though, we should. Too late tonight, though. My soldiers are swimming
inside of her right now. The selfish part of me is hoping at least one of the
soldiers is doing its job. I want her pregnant.

“Kerrigan, if you’re worried about getting pregnant, I’d say
that it’s a little too late. My cum is inside you right now.”

“I know,” she says. “It was hard to think clearly then. Now
I am thinking clearly and we should.”

“Couldn’t think clearly?” I smile, excited to hear that she
needed that physical intimacy just as much as I did.

I take her to the bed and lay her down. I waste no time
kissing her body. I stop at her neck, kissing it softly. I kiss her shoulders
and make my way to her perfect nipples. My dick is protesting, demanding to be
inside of her right now. It’s going to have to wait. I'm making my way down to
the spot I’ve dreamed about. As I get another taste, I feel a groan vibrate
through my chest.

Kerrigan

Damn, I just had my third orgasm tonight. I'm about to have
my fourth, I think, as I straddle Maddox. He positions himself at my entrance
and I slowly slide down. I know it’s stupid not to use a condom, but he’s
right, too late for that now. Clearing that from my mind, I let go of
everything that has ever held me back and enjoy the ride. I know I want sweet
and romantic, but when you're having sex with someone who looks and responds
like Maddox, it’s impossible. I'm bouncing up and slamming down as hard and
fast as I can on Maddox's rock hard cock. Every time my clit makes contact with
him, I moan. Maddox is squeezing my ass and helping me thrust harder and
deeper.

“Kerrigan!” exclaims Maddox, in a deep satisfied voice.
Hearing it makes my stomach flip. I'm so close to my fourth orgasm. My clit
needs the constant contact of his body, so I start grinding against him.
Watching Maddox’s face sends me over the edge. His eyes take turns rolling back
in pleasure and meeting my gaze. My nails dig into his chest. I can tell this
turns Maddox on. He starts rapidly thrusting his hips up to meet mine. It takes
no time for the euphoria to infuse my body. He feels so good in me—so, so
GOOD!

“Thank God!” Maddox ejaculates. He raises my breast to his
mouth and sucks hard, sending a jolt straight between my legs. It prolongs both
my orgasm and his. Once we're both spent, I collapse on top of his chest.

“That was incredible,” I whisper. “Thank you for the perfect
night. Thank you for understanding, and thank you for being there for me.”

“That’s all I want, Kerrigan, to be there for you and to
make every night a perfect night. For the rest of my life, there will only be
you. I love you, Kerrigan.” After our kiss is over, we lie there for a little while
longer.

“I need to get going,” I say, “It’s 11 at night, and in 12
hours, my flight is leaving.”

“Stay the night, Kerrigan,” he pleads. It hurts my heart
when I hear the pain in his voice.

“I can’t,” I say regretfully. “I still have packing to do, and
I promised Ari and Lani we would meet for breakfast. If you want, you can take
me to the airport.”

“I want any moment I can have with you.”

Kerrigan

I’m having breakfast with Ari and Lani. My heart is aching
so badly. Right now, I hate Aaron more than I ever have. I’m leaving everybody
I love to put my life back together to get away from the “girl accusing a cop
of a crime.” I guess they can tell I’m upset because Lani starts talking.

“Kerrigan, we’ll come see you. I’ve never been to Kentucky.
What do people do for fun there?”

“Heck, I have no idea,” I respond. Molly has told me a
little bit about the area. Mostly, it was stories of her and Kelly.

“Well, we will give you a month and come out,” Ari says.

“Yeah. We can take turns,” I say, feeling better.

“So, how was your goodbye with Maddox?” Ari asks.

“It was the best night of my life.” I can’t help the smile
crossing my face. It was the best night of my life and a memory I will enjoy
revisiting.

“I’m glad he gave that to you,” Lani says as she nudges my
arm. I can’t help but giggle.

“Let me know if amazing runs in the family,” I joke back to
Lani.

“That’s not going to happen. I’m not into rough and kink.”

“Yeah, you’re into boring,” I tease.

“No, I’m into gentle,” Lani says in all seriousness.

We finish our breakfast making plans about visits and phone
calls. I feel like Ari and I are just starting our relationship. I know she
will be fine, though. She found a roommate so she doesn’t have to move back in
with her parents. She has changed and grown so much. She has started taking
classes again and will earn her business degree next year. I’m so proud of her.

Maddox

On my drive to pick up Kerrigan, I decide I want to give her
something. I don’t know what, though. I pass small jewelers and decide to look
and see if I can find something. I start browsing and stop at engagement rings.
I’m not going to propose any time soon but I decide, right now, I’m buying one.
I’ll keep it with me until the day I put it on her finger.

“Can I help you?” the salesman asks.

“I’m looking for a couple of things. First, an engagement
ring. Second, my girlfriend is leaving today and she’ll be gone awhile. I want
something beautiful but casual enough that she can wear all the time.”

“Okay. Lets start with the rings. Do you know what size?
Cut? Clarity?”

Hell, my answer is “no” to all of those questions.

“No, sir.”

“Okay. How big?” As soon as he says that, my eyes lock onto
a ring in the center of the case.

“This one.” I point to it and he takes it out.

“Yes, this one is beautiful. It’s an Asscher cut. Two
Carats.”

“Okay. Wrap it up.” I don’t need to think about it. It’s the
one.

“Do you want to talk price?” I probably should have, but
this is her ring. If it means taking on two more jobs to pay for it, then
that’s what I’ll do.

“No, sir,” I say and walk to look at bracelets. There isn’t
anything that catches my eye so I move to the necklaces. Several will do, but
nothing that’s good enough for her.

“Can I make a suggestion?” the salesman asks.

“Sure.”

He walks over to a cabinet then comes back and lays a
necklace in front of me. It has a single diamond. It’s the same shape of her
engagement ring. It’s the one. It’s simple, beautiful, and deserves to be worn
by Kerrigan.

“Thank you. That’s all I’ll need then.” We head over to the
register. I nearly choke when he gives me the total. I am betting this man
works on commission.

“That’ll be eleven thousand, eight hundred dollars.”

“Here comes the overtime,” I think, as I hand him my credit
card. It’s worth it, though. Besides, I’ll need to stay busy while she’s away.
Once he finishes wrapping them up, I head to my car and drive to pick her up.

I’m standing outside Kerrigan’s door and I’m dying inside.
Last night can’t be described. She was perfect and more than I ever dreamed
possible. Now, I am about to say goodbye to her. I knock a couple of times, and
she answers the door with the suitcase trailing behind her.

“Here, let me get that,” I say, as I reach for her suitcase.

“Thanks, I’m ready. We should get going,” she says
nervously.

I put her suitcase in the trunk and get in the car. I glance
at her and my heart stops again. Why can’t I be the person who helps put her
back together? Why is she leaving me? I have a lot of questions, but I can’t
form them. Kerrigan needs to do what is right for her. It’s killing me but it’s
her decision.

“Will you call me when you arrive to let me know you made it
safely?” I ask.

“Yes, Maddox. I’ll call and I’ll come visit. This isn’t the
end of us.”

It’s a small hope but it’s hope. And, I will cling to that
hope until she is home with me.

“I know. I love you, Kerrigan. Whatever you need please let
me know.”

“I will. I’m just hoping this time away will help me put
things into perspective. This trial is approaching but not fast enough. I want
it over because I want to move on.”

“I want that, too. I want you home with me where you belong.
I don’t want to rush you, but I do want you to know that I meant what I said.
There will only ever be you. When you’re ready my home is yours.”

I look over and see a mix of sadness and peace in her. She
squeezes my hand.

“Here, I got you something.” I reach in the bag and give her
the box.

“What is this?” she asks.

“Find out.” I smile at her and watch her open the box.

She stares at it.

“Maddox, it’s beautiful. There is no way I’m accepting
this.”

“I already bought it.”

“Maddox, it’s too much. I can’t.”

I take the necklace from her.

“Turn around.”

She looks unsure but does as I ask. I get it clasped and
turn her around.

Yes, it’s the right decision. It looks beautiful on her. She
takes her hand and places it over the necklace.

“Thank you.”

It’s simple but heartfelt. I lean over and kiss her on the
cheek.

“You’re welcome,” I say.

I get out of the car and open her door. As we walk towards
the ticket counter, I grab her hand and guide her through the busy airport
traffic. I wish we were on our way to our honeymoon.

After she gets checked in, I walk her to the security
checkpoint. I wrap my arms around her, breathe in the scent of her, and run my
fingers through her hair. She is doing the same thing to me. When she looks up,
I lean down to kiss her and we get totally lost in the moment. In this very
busy airport, it feels like it’s only Kerrigan and me. Her kiss is gentle, her
mouth is warm, and her tongue is soft.

“I love you, Maddox Stone. Always,” she says breaking away
from the kiss.

“I love you, Kerrigan Andrews.”

She heads to the checkpoint. We hold hands for as long we
can until they are separated by distance. I watch the love of my life get lost
in the crowd. I’m devastated. Right now, murdering Aaron Reeves sounds like a
good plan.

I stand in the airport for several minutes. I hate leaving
here without her.

The drive home is slow. I can’t get my head straight.
Growing up, I never believed in love. As an adult, I didn’t want it. Now, I
don’t know how I’ll live without it. Kerrigan is it, for me.

Kerrigan

I’ve just landed. I thought it was odd that I had to fly
into Huntington, West Virginia. I’ve never been on such a small plane before.
The flight took just over an hour, for which I am grateful.

All I could think of was Maddox and how leaving feels
stupid. He told me his home was mine. I thought that I made the right decision
with Aaron and that he was exactly what I wanted. I don’t fully trust Maddox
yet. Maybe it’s me who I don’t trust and that’s the reason I needed to leave.
Being with Maddox felt right. So right. But, I’ve made so many mistakes in my
life. I will not let Maddox be a mistake because he isn’t a mistake. I place my
hand over the necklace so I can feel him. I didn’t want to accept it, but the
look in his eyes told me he expected nothing in return. It’s the first gift
I’ve ever been given that the only meaning behind it was a simple “I love you.”

I only brought one suitcase. Jay and Annie are bringing the
rest of my stuff up at the end of the week. It’s not that much anyway. I did
snap a photo of Maddox at the airport. I don’t think he saw me, but when I
looked back, his head was down. He looked devastated. I wanted to run back to
him but I couldn’t. Walking away from him once was hard enough. I will blow
that picture up as soon as I can.

Kelly is picking me up at the airport. I’ve spoken to her
over the phone and have seen her in photos. According to Molly, she is a lot of
fun and has a hard time being serious. I think I need that. Someone who won’t
constantly remind me of what I’ve been through. It gives me the chance to break
away. When I walk through the doors, I see her smiling and switching from foot
to foot. I smile, happy to know that I’m truly wanted.

“Hey! Its nice to finally meet you in person,” I say, as I
extend my hand to shake hers.

“Sorry, I'm from Kentucky. We hug. Get used to it,” she says
pulling me in for a hug. I’m surprised at how much her hug means to me.

“Well, alright. What are the plans for today?” I ask.

“I’ll get you settled first. Probably dinner. It will be a
down day. Tomorrow is Saturday. That means four-wheeling with some hot farm
guys.”

HUH? She knows what I’ve been through and this is her idea
of what I should be doing? I don’t want to be rude and decide right now to put
my blind trust in a complete stranger. I trust Molly one hundred percent, and
she trusts Kelly.

We get into the car and drive for a short distance until we
are out of West Virginia and into Kentucky. I look around and it’s exactly what
Molly described. Wide open spaces with towns in between. The best part is no
traffic. It should be easy for me to navigate this place. Chicago traffic is a
nightmare.

After driving for about thirty minutes, we pull into a small
apartment complex just off of the highway. When I get out of the car, Kelly
grabs my bag and we walk in. It’s on the first floor, and my first impression
is it’s small but cozy. I can tell there have been no updates to this place in
the last fifteen years, or so. The carpet is a type of blue color, and the
walls are faded white. It’s been taken care of, but I still see a trip to the
local hardware store in my near future. A fresh coat of paint and some curtains
will make this feel more like a home.

“Your bedroom will be right around this corner,” Kelly says
leading me down a small hallway.

Okay, this room is tiny. I guess it’s a good thing I left
Aaron with nothing but the clothes on my back. I’ve only collected small things
since, so it’s perfect.

“Thank you for this, Kelly. It means so much. I’ll start
looking for a job on Monday to help contribute more.”

“Actually, Jay mentioned he had a job lined up for you at
the church. The one thing you need to know about this place is community and
friendships run deep. We help where we can and expect nothing in return. When
you’re ready to start working, we can talk about bills then.”

No one has ever shown me this much acceptance in such a
short time. I’m overwhelmed. I want to go lay down but I won’t because I’m
having a good time. Besides, my whole reason for being here is to deal with
things, as they come, not to wait to sort through anything later. I need to
face it. I start to tear up, but I managed to say “Thank you.”
