ROMANCE: Billion Dollar Question (BWWM Billionaire Bad Boy Romance) (African American Alpha Mail Order Bride New Adult) (10 page)

Vlad spent his time fucking her slowly, not in any big hurry, just making it feel good for the both of them. He kissed her and rubbed her shoulders and arms. Eventually, he reached down and grabbed one of her hips with one hand and squeezed it and pushed her hips into the bed as he picked up the pace and started to fuck her harder.

Shelly screamed as an orgasm hit her unexpectedly out of the blue, she'd been so relaxed and into what he was doing, she hadn't even noticed it sneaking up on her.

The clenching muscles of her pussy walls squeezed Vlad's penis until his own release was just seconds behind her. He shuddered as his cum filled her and then rolled over once he could move again and cuddled her in his arms, kissing the right side of her neck and shoulder gently until she fell asleep in his arms.

Chapter 4: Accepting The Job

Shelly eventually accepted the job by the time Vlad had to leave. He was thrilled, and also disturbed. He realized that first night they hadn't used protection, though he'd been very careful after that to use a condom for each encounter they'd had since that first night.

Vlad was on his way home, and he was paying for Shelly's stuff to be moved. He planned on letting her stay at his house in the mother in law apartment above his garage. It was really the size of a large house; his garage could fit over twenty cars.

A few weeks after Shelly got there, they were getting into a groove. He'd write her handwritten notes on what he needed her to do when he was too busy to talk, she'd pick them up from his desk and get everything done for the day.

She seemed happy. She would swim in his indoor pool and eat dinner with him every night, the two of them seemed to get along really well, and she was an incredibly hard worker.

They were still intimate, although lately, he'd felt like she'd been pulling away from him and it bothered him.

He was falling hard for her, and he wanted to figure out how to propose to her, but the timing never felt right. If he was honest, he was also worried there would be a small chance she'd say no to him.

She'd dropped comments here and there on his job and how much money he had and being unused to such extravagance. That she was a simple person and didn't need everything money could buy.

Shelly was so different than any woman he'd ever met and he just wasn't ready to let her go.

"Sir?" his butler stood in the doorway with a trash can in his hand and was waiting to be given permission to come in.

He'd brought Boris over from Russia with him, and Boris served him faithfully.

“What is going on Boris?” Vlad asked, shutting his laptop and looking up.

“I think you need to see this,” Boris told him and brought the trash can over and slid it across the desk.

Inside on top of tissue was a simple pregnancy test. There were two bright pink lines on it and it didn't register right away what it was.

“We have female staff here; it could be one of theirs,” Vlad replied, confused.

“The female staff are the ones who brought it to me. They say Shelly took it, and thought we should know because she's been throwing up a lot in the mornings and felt she deserved a break,” Boris said his face totally flat.

“She's been sick and hadn't told me?” Vlad said feeling shocked. Shelly had always been so honest with him, why wouldn't she tell him about this?

“Sir, sometimes a woman wants to tell a man in their own way, be patient with her and don't be angry. I know you have strong feelings for her, I can tell, so don't do anything irrational, I know how quick you can be to react when you feel slighted,” Boris said. “If it's yours though, congratulations.”

“That's assuming she plans on keeping it,” Vlad said bluntly. “Not telling me means she hasn't decided what she wants to do yet.”

Boris shook his head. “Not true, it could also be that she's concerned she'll be fired, or your reaction. You've mentioned wanting children, but you're also extremely rich and she's intimidated by your wealth. She may also feel that you'd think she tried to trap you, and would be worried about your reaction. There are many reasons why a woman wouldn't want to tell you right away.”

“Can you go find her for me?” Vlad said, his brain spinning, thinking on how to handle this.

“If you wish, Sir,” Boris replied, “But my advice is to let things lay low until brings it up.”

“You know I can't do that Boris,” Vlad said rubbing his chin with his hand.

“Let's hope it doesn't blow up in your face Sir. Good luck,” Boris said, taking the basket back out with him and going to find Shelly.

Chapter 5: The Baby

Shelly walked into Vlad's office with her tablet and was ready to take notes. When she saw his face, she knew this was personal, not business and closed it and walked over to his desk.

He got up and walked around his desk and pulled her into his arms and kissed her, his hand went to the back of her head and held her firmly in place while his tongue and lips worked their magic to make her melt in his arms.

Eventually, he pulled back and looked at her. “When were you going to tell me?”

“Tell you what?” Shelly said looking confused for a minute, still reeling from his kisses her brain hadn't quite caught up yet.

“About the test,” Vlad told her softly, rubbing her cheek with one of his hands.

Shelly looked at him funny for a moment. “What test?”

“The pregnancy test!” Vlad said spelling it out since she didn't seem to know what he was talking about.

Realization dawned on Shelly and she nervously took a step back and wrapped her arms around her belly protectively, without knowing she did it.

“I wasn't sure. I still need to see a doctor to confirm,” she said nervously.

Vlad looked at her for a moment before responding quietly. “I'd like to be there.”

“You do?” Shelly said sounding shocked.

Nodding, Vlad took her hand in his trying to reassure her. “I've always wanted children, I've fallen in love with you these past few weeks Shelly, and I'm okay with this, if you are. Please keep me involved.”

“I don't know if I'm ready to be a mom, I'm only twenty three, I pictured getting my brother through school before I found someone to settle down and have kids with,” she told him looking a little lost. “And, I don't know if I can be the woman you need me to be. I'm from a completely different culture.”

“I don't care. Skin color doesn't matter to me, where you were born doesn't matter to me. What I care about is the fact that I find you beautiful, kind, intelligent, caring, and you have a work ethic that I admire. You're not scared to work hard and you are willing to stand up to me when you think I could do better or am making a mistake. You are perfect for me Shelly. Nothing else matters to me. I want to see you happy, and I want to spend my life with you.” Until Vlad had spewed all the words, he hadn't realized exactly how much he truly meant them.

Shelly opened her mouth to say something and then instead, burst into tears.

Vlad looked panicked for a minute, unsure what to do, he was expecting her to be happy, not cry. Pulling her into his arms, he rubbed her back gently for a few minutes until she stopped sobbing and started sniffling.

“Are you okay?” Vlad asked her; worried he'd said something wrong.

“Yes... No... I don't know,” she told him, sounding as confused as he felt.

Vlad hugged her tighter for a couple more minutes before finally letting her go to talk to her.

“Marry me. If you don't want a big wedding, we can do something small and intimate, we can elope to Vegas, whatever you want. I had been thinking of asking you before I knew you were even pregnant, but now I insist,” Vlad told her.

“Let me think about it for a few days, okay?” Shelly told him, wiping her face off with her hands.

“You never can make decisions without thinking about them, can you?”

“Not when they are so important and big decisions. I don't believe in divorce Vlad, I have to believe that we'll work out and everything between us is real,” Shelly told him. “My parents had a love that I got to see growing up that I admired. I want that in my life, especially when raising children.”

“It is real Shelly. I'm sorry if my timing sucks and I didn't ask you before I knew you were pregnant. Finding out you were pregnant made me realize I didn't want to lose you or the baby though,” Vlad said worried now that she might choose not to marry him. He wasn't used to not getting his way, and this was something that emotionally mattered to him. It wasn't a game, or a challenge, or a business deal.

This was a matter of the heart.

Shelly reached up and cupped his cheek with her hand. “I will let you know soon, okay?”

Vlad nodded and watched her walk out of the room but didn't follow her. Sometimes giving a person space is the only way for them to realize what they need.

Even if it's hard to stop yourself from chasing after them.

Chapter 6: Acceptance

Shelly sat in the doctor's office a few days after her first blood draw. They confirmed the pregnancy and were now doing a dating ultrasound to confirm her dates.

She'd be close to fifteen weeks if it was accurate, which meant she conceived on their first night together. She hadn't been totally aware of the no condom thing until after they'd had sex, but she'd just come off her period and didn't think there was any chance she'd get pregnant.

Apparently, she'd been wrong about her ovulation date.

The nurse called her into the room and had her undress. A few minutes later, the doctor came in and put cold gel on her stomach and then was pointing thing out to the nurse on the screen.

“Shelly, would you like some picture of the babies?” The doctor asked her.

Nodding, Shelly almost didn't catch the word 'babies'.

“Wait, babies? As in more than one?” she asked him, shocked.

“Yes, you have two, and while you're still early, it looks like one of each. A boy and a girl, if you want to come back around twenty weeks, I can confirm genders for you if you want,” the doctor told her, printing out some pictures for her. He handed them to her.

“But... How is that possible?” Shelly asked him, gripping the pictures of the babies and staring down at the proof in her hand.

“Well, if they are boy and girl like they appear, it means you ovulated twice. Only identical twins share the same egg, and they have to be the same gender,” he told her smiling. “This is a good thing. Two babies! Do you have a husband or any support at home to help you?”

“I have a boyfriend,” Shelly muttered, realizing that Vlad had offered to marry her. Now she found out it was twins. Oh god, what was she going to tell him?

“I'll be passing you off to a high risk specialist who is used to dealing with twin pregnancies. You'll need to start thinking about how you want to give birth, and maybe take some classes here soon. You are far enough along that you shouldn't wait last minute. Twins are often known to come a few weeks early, the doctor said standing up and nodding to the nurse. “I'll see you again in a couple of weeks, but for right now, everything looks perfect, if you have any questions, you can ask the nurse and I'll give you a call at home if you need something answered the nurse can't help with, okay?”

Shelly nodded, feeling completely numb right this minute. Getting dressed after wiping the gel off her belly, she barely registered the nurse having her sign paperwork for more blood tests and giving her a slip to go to the lab.

Getting her blood drawn was the least of her worries right now; she wondered what Vlad was going to say.

She drove back to his house and pulled into the large driveway and just sat in her car for a few minutes and contemplated their relationship.

He was attentive, and passionate, considerate and kind, he could have a temper, but he always tried to walk away and never take it out on her. She could see the kind of man he tried to be, and admired it. He was older than she was by twelve years, and yet she never really noticed the age gap.

Vlad always made time for her, and listened to her. He'd indulge her desire to watch silly movies sometimes.

She was worried what people would say about his money, that she was a gold digger and got pregnant on purpose to trap him. She knew that wasn't true, she wasn't even trying to get pregnant, but she put a hand over her belly and knew she'd do anything for these babies.

Loving them already, she finally understood why women who lost a pregnancy would be so devastated; these little people in her already mattered to her so much.

Her problem was how to handle Vlad, and what he would want out of all of this. She was pretty sure he'd continue to insist on getting married. He was an honorable kind of man with old-fashioned notions. He believed children deserved two parents. She knew logically she agreed with him, but she was so emotional right now, it was hard to think rationally.

She slowly climbed out of her car, and went to find him. She passed Boris in the hallway and stopped him.

“Where is Vlad?” she asked.

“He's in his bedroom. He has a business trip coming up and was packing for it. He leaves in the morning,” Boris informed her.

“I didn't know about this,” Shelly said startled.

Boris shook his head. “Neither did he. One of his distilleries in Russia blew up, and he needs to go survey the damage. He should only be gone a few days.”

“Okay, thanks,” Shelly told him, making her way through the twenty thousand square foot house to the Master bedroom to go find Vlad.

She walked in and saw him packing, without saying a word, she walked over and handed him the pictures of the babies, Vlad stopped what he was doing and took them from her.

“Wait, are these all the same baby?” Vlad asked looking confused.

“Twins,” Shelly said and sat down on the end of his bed looking amazed.

“Shelly, I have to go for a few days, but I'll be back, I'll text you while I'm gone, I swear to you, that I won't think of anyone else but you the entire time I'm gone. You just take good care of yourself and don't hesitate to ask Boris for anything if you need something. Or want something,” Vlad told her, leaning down to kiss her, and then surprised her when he dropped to his knees in front of her and kissed her belly gently.

“Okay. Thank you Vlad,” Shelly said.

Vlad looked at her for a moment and then grabbed her hand and brought her knuckles up to his mouth to kiss them.

“I love you Shelly, I would love you no matter what, but please have an answer for me by the time I get back about marriage. I want to spend my life with you, and I promise I will stick up for you if anyone ever thinks we got married for the wrong reasons. I never knew what I was missing until I found you. I need you in my life, and I want to be a good husband to you, and a good father to our children,” he told her and then stood up and grabbed his bag. “Think about it.”

Shelly nodded and watched him leave, realizing she was going to miss him.

Chapter 7: Marriage To Shelly

Shelly called her brothers to talk to them. They were all happy for her, but surprised at her resistance to marriage.

She knew they didn't fully understand her fears. Vlad was extremely wealthy, and that could mean a lack of privacy that she preferred to have, as his assistant, she was always in the background and no one noticed her.

As his wife, she'd be talked about, and constantly noticed. It brought back anxiety she hadn't felt in years and she sat in Vlad's room sitting on his bed waiting for him. She had her own room, Vlad had wanted her to feel like she had her own space, but had given her free access to his room anytime she wanted.

She'd been sleeping in it while he was gone, hugging his pillow. It had made her realize that she needed him around. He made her smile and he was attentive and took the time to notice her. He'd even stop working sometimes just to press a kiss to her lips and tell her she was beautiful.

Knowing how rare such a good man was, she knew that she shouldn't let her knee-jerk fears stop her, but it was hard not to.

Vlad arrived later than she thought, and she must have fallen asleep on the bed. She was woken up by him pressing gentle kisses to her forehead, down her cheeks until he reached her mouth.

His hands gently fondled her breasts through her shirt as he slowly woke her up and she cracked one eye open and smiled at him.

“They are bigger,” he said sounding surprised.

Shelly laughed softly. “They do that when you are pregnant.”

“I know, but it's really obvious now!” he said grinning at her, and then pressed a gentle kiss to her belly before wrapping his arms around her and holding her close. “Did you make a decision?”

“I did, but I have a couple of stipulations,” Shelly told him not wanting to upset him, but unable to keep it to herself.

“Okay, I'm listening.”

“First, no big wedding, I want a private, quiet ceremony. I don't want to announce we are pregnant, it's between us. Second, I want us to spend Holidays with my family in Chicago, unless you want to fly them out here holidays. They deserve to be a part of our life too, and I miss them,” Shelly told him. “It can't just be you and me all the time Vlad, I have a family too, brothers who miss me.”

“Really? I have a surprise for you then. We can do the rest and I'm fine with that as long as you marry me. I can't promise people won't find out we got married, but I promise to always stick up for you and not let people think bad things about us if I can say a few simple words to make sure it comes from me and not tabloids,” Vlad told her.

“What's the surprise?” Shelly asked him.

“I stopped in Chicago and brought your brothers home with me,” he said grinning. “They are downstairs playing in the game room right now waiting for you. I hoped they could convince you to marry me.”

“You brought my brothers to gang up on me?” Shelly snorted but realized it wasn't a half-bad plan. Her brothers were stubborn and they'd already made it clear they liked Vlad. “When did you get to know my brothers?”

“After I hired you, they all emailed me, and we started talking. I believe your little brother threatened to remove my gonads if I hurt you. I like them,” Vlad said grinning at her. “I promised them I would take good care of you.”

“I cannot believe they are really here,” Shelly said jumping out of the bed, she stopped in the doorway and looked back at Vlad. “Thank you.”

Vlad nodded and let her enjoy her seeing her brother without him interfering. For now. He had the rest of his life to be involved in everything, he could give her a couple of hours alone with her siblings, besides, and he had a wedding to plan.

He flipped open his phone and called one of his friends who were an ordained minister. He'd already applied for the marriage license because he was confident he could convince Shelly to marry him. Or at least, he'd told himself he would be able to convince her she wanted to marry him.

His friend would come by tomorrow to marry them in the privacy of their own home, surrounding by Boris, and her brothers. Satisfied, Vlad unpacked his bags and realized that he'd never been happier in his life.

All the hard work he'd done had gotten him to a place where he could pursue his dreams, but until he'd met Shelly, he hadn't even known what he was missing.

He would spend the rest of his life showing her how much she meant to him, giving her babies, and being there for her. He would need to hire someone he could trust to start traveling for him and give him reports.

Being home with his family would be important. Maybe it was also time to get rid of some of his cars, it's not like he even drove most of them.

Shelly taught him that just because he had money, he didn't need to spend all his money on trivial things. That sometimes the simple things in life could bring the most pleasure.

He pulled out the wedding band out of his pocket and smiled at it. It was a simple diamond; large enough to satisfy his need to spoil her, but small enough she wouldn't be afraid to wear it.

Vlad knew that she would love it. Satisfied, he put it back into his pocket, eager for tomorrow.
