Romance: The Billionaire's Proposal (8 page)

“What? Are you crazy?” I am in shock.

“Maybe a little.”

I laugh. “Really? So this was really your plan the whole time?”

“Yeah…I guess you can say I suck at courting a lady,” he says.

“You’re right about that.”

“I’m working on it.”

“So do you already have the land transfer papers drawn up?”

“Of course.”

“Really?” I’m still in shock.

He puts the papers in front of me, “Here they are.”

As I look over the papers, I see that they are already completed with my company name on them. “You know Alexander, you’re very sneaky.”

“I’ve been told that a time or two.”

“And I’ve called you so many names.”

“You can make it up to me by having dinner with me in Paris.”

“Will we actually get to see the city? Or is it just a business trip?”

He nods. “We can even go to that little bridge you were talking about and put a lock there.”

My eyes widen. “Really? You remember that I said that?”

“Yes, sweetie, we can do whatever you want to do,” he says.

I smile. “I love the sound of that. What are we waiting for?”

He laughs and holds my hand. “My jet is waiting for us.”

One year later

I can’t believe that this day, the grand opening of the community center, is finally here.

I couldn’t be happier.

The library and the nursing home would also be opening soon, but today is the day to give back to the youth.

Alexander and I are still holding on.

He’s such a sweet guy.

He’s actually a reason all of this is moving along so swiftly—he had a lot to do with getting the best workers and more. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect guy than him.

He helps me up on the podium so I can address the crowd that gathered for the event.

“Hi. Thank you all for coming to the grand opening of the community center. Later this spring, we’re hoping to start a garden within its grounds to provide some food for the community. I also would like to thank my wonderful boyfriend, Alexander Hudson, for helping things move along smoothly. You’ve been a great support system and I couldn’t be more thankful,” I say.

The crowd rains in applause, and I know that I made the right decision.

Looking at Tara, I can’t help but feel like the luckiest guy in the world.

This year has been the greatest of my life.

I watched her be so hands-on with this project and am glad to be here for the unveiling of the outcome.

The kids are going to love it.

I have donated new state-of-the-art computers to the building as well as helped screen most of the volunteers.

It is something I usually never did with any of my projects, but I felt a strange urge to help Tara in any way that I could. She is an amazing woman, and I will do anything in the world for her.

She steps down the podium and hugs me tightly. “So what’d you think of my speech?” she asks.

I smile. “I’m glad that you’re finally ready to tell the world we’re an item. It’s been a year now.”

She laughs. “Well I think it’s time to let people know that I have an amazing guy in my life whom I love very much.”

I smile down at her. “And I think it’s high time everyone knows that I have the most beautiful girl in the world at my side. You’re amazing, Tara, and I couldn’t ask for a better woman.”

“Good, because you couldn’t find one even if you tried.”

I laugh. “You know, I think you might be right about that.”

“I know I am. Now let’s go greet the kids and show them the building.”

She grabs my hand and drags me inside, where she animatedly shows the kids and parents where everything is.

Her face is lit up, and I know I can expect the same thing when the library and the nursing home open.

Not that I mind, though.

I’m going to be standing by the most amazing woman, and for that I will be forever grateful.

Authors Note:

Thank you for reading ‘The Billionaire’s Proposal’. It means a lot to me that people have taken the time to read my work.

All of my work is based on parts of my past, and this story is no different. I have experienced many things in my life and when times were tough, romance novels were my savior. In my times of darkness, romance stories helped me escape to another world where things always ended happily.

The value of entertainment should never be underestimated.

I hope that you have found my stories entertaining!

Thank you!
