SEALed With a Kiss: Even a Hero Needs Help Sometimes... (50 page)

"Oh."

"Yes,
oh."
Jax slid an arm under Pickett. Now that she had him awake again, he wasn't as satiated as he thought, but holding her, just holding, was good.

"All right," Pickett conceded at last. "But no more tirades when I don't come up to SEAL standards, okay? Us magical creatures don't like it."

Pickett scooted closer and nestled next to him on her side, one leg curled across his thighs. She stroked his neck for a minute with her soft, warm hand. He'd wondered the first time he met her if she really was that soft all over. She was. She snuggled into a more comfortable position with a sleepy sigh, then tapped his breastbone three times to get his attention.

"One more thing. Making one 'I love you' speech is not going to cut it. You are going to have to say it—in words—every single day for the rest of our lives."

Jax's stomach shook with silent laughter. That was Pickett.

He always knew she was gonna be high maintenance.
